Yesterday’s post gave you a little rundown on my flower inspiration. But, like I said, my florist was wary of the soft pink and ivory palette meshing with my tendency to gravitate towards peaches. She also mentioned that we’d have to replace the spring blooms with similar fall flowers.
So, here’s our plan with side-by-side (or one on top of the other) images of the spring bloom originally used versus the fall bloom we hope to replace it with (and few options). The colors are not exactly on par with what we’re planning, but close.

Hello hive! Many of you might not remember me, but this is Mrs. Hydrangea here. It’s hard to believe that it has been almost eight months since we said, “I Do”; it seems like just yesterday. After our September ’08 wedding, life caught up with us and I never finished my recaps, which were always there in the back of my mind. Now that life has adjusted, there is just not any good excuse to keep the last bit of our wedding from the hive!
For those of you who might not know me well, here are a few links to catch up with where I left off:
Now, it’s time to get back to the recaps, and to one of my most favorite parts of the evening, the introduction of the wedding party. Little did our wedding party know, we had a little plan to make the intros interesting, thanks to our amazing DJ, Andy Austin. We filled out questionnaires for each member prior to the wedding in order to give them a mini-roast instead of just announcing their names, but that wasn’t the only trick we had up our sleeves that evening.
Okay enough of me explaining, I’ll let the photos (thanks to Perez Photography) do the rest…

This is Aubergine.
Today’s photo of the day was uploaded by JoieDeVie. She DIYed gold flip flops for her bridesmaids to wear at the reception, so they could dance all night long in comfort and style!

Be sure to upload your photos to the gallery this week for your chance to win a 11″x20″ Custom Vows or Wedding Song Lyrics on canvas from GeeZees Custom Canvas! Remember, your pictures have to be under 5MB, or they won’t load.

So, my “gift wrap” came a few days ago. Mr. CC didn’t want to even see it, but I rushed to the bedroom to try them on.
There are no pictures to document this nightmare.
The pink one:

Wasn’t too bad. They have heavily Photoshopped the stock photo, cause my nipples show right through that see-through fabric. But I guess that’s half the point, aye?
The ivory one, on the other hand:

We are officially 100 days out… yikes! While a lot of the big stuff is done, there are a few things looming over my head that have yet to be touched.
1. Florist - I’m not really concerned about centerpieces, since we are just doing single stems in these vases. (Seems pretty easy to DIY right?) Bouquets are another item all together. I think I am waaay too anal to be able to pull these together myself and have them look acceptable. I’ve been procrastinating on this since none of the florists in the area have websites (which is how I have done a majority of my research) and I haven’t been back to Maine since Christmas.

Greetings from sunny South Florida!
It’s with a beaming smile (and wagging tail!) that I introduce myself to you as Miss Yorkie! (Wow, that sounds different!) I have to admit, when I first received The email, I was in total disbelief. Could it be? Me… a Bee?!T hat’s what it says! Well, as soon as the reality set in, it’s like a switch went off and I could barely sit still! Yeah, I’m quite certain I did the human version of the “I’m-so-excited-I-could-pee-a-little” dance that my dog, Bella, greets me with every time I walk in the door. (Good thing there was no one in my office to witness the joyous jig!)
With a little more than five weeks until I scamper down the aisle, I’m excited, honored and blessed to be able to share the last leg of my journey with you. Since I don’t have too long before becoming Mrs. Yorkie, I’d better get down to business and tell you a little bit about myself!
Unlike a real Yorkie, my pedigree isn’t exactly “pure bred”. Nope, I’m a curious combination of Cuban, Scottish, and Irish, with a dash of German thrown in for good measure. (In other words, I’m a mutt… and a proud one at that!) Also unlike a Yorkie, or at least the one in my icon, I’m not quite prissy or high maintenance. Nope, my daily beauty regimen consists of mascara, blush and Carmex. Oh, and I can’t forget the ponytail! My lifestyle is a little too active (and I’m a lot too lazy) to spend time gussying myself up every day. Or at least, that’s my excuse! (I know I should really try… and I will, without too much whimpering. I promise!)

I never thought I would be one of those brides that got into the idea of wedding colors… but I have! By the way, I have surprised myself with the things I’ve ended up caring and not caring about during this process, so I guess that I shouldn’t be surprised again.
I knew that I wanted bold colors after deciding on our venue. Battery Gardens is a very stark white, light, airy place that uses all white linens. While I am sure that I could have brought in my own linens, I definitely wanted to have a bold color pop against all of that white. To me, bold became more important since we chose not to have a nighttime wedding. It wouldn’t make much sense getting lighting for a reception at 1PM, so I wanted our color choices to project brightness for us. We decided that we really wanted our colors to stand out.
One of the coolest weddings I’d ever seen online was stark white with nice lime green accents that looked so simple and modern. I had even thought for second that we would use green or yellow and white as colors because I was seeing all of these inspiring weddings using them in such great ways. I was intrigued by contrasts (kinda like me and Mr. Swan, no?).
Then one day early on, I got inspiration from (of all places) a wedding magazine! It’s probably the only thing that has inspired me from a wedding mag. What did we end up choosing? Drum roll…

… or how I made my inspiration board.
I wish I owned Photoshop or something like that. I don’t even own anything more than a trial version of PowerPoint, which I’m sure you could use make an inspiration board, as well. So, because I don’t own these fancy programs, I used the two I do have: Microsoft Word and IrfanView.*
IrfanView is a free and easy-to-use graphic viewer and editor I downloaded years ago to easily edit my photos for MySpace. I use it almost daily to email Mr. Frenchie or friends pictures I’ve seen on websites, because most of their work emails block images that I just copy and paste.
Step 1 - Collecting the photos - If you’re anything like me, you’ve collected a ton of inspiration photos. The hardest part of this step for me was deciding which photos to use, which forced me to decide on a set theme.
*Note: for this step I HIGHLY recommend bookmarking websites instead of just saving the pictures to a file. This makes sourcing your photos MUCH easier.
Step 2 - Editing photos - I’ve found the easiest way for me to edit my photos was to “Print Screen” and paste into IrfanView. The “Print Screen” button basically copies whatever is in view on your screen to your clipboard. In order to see what you’ve “copied”, you have to “paste” it into a new document, or in our case, program.
What my screen looks like in IrfanView…
This all-wedding-all-the-time thing kinda sucks. Every moment I’m not working, I’m painting or sewing or haphazardly throwing things on a long to-do list that has long since taken a vacation from organization. “Paint bathroom ceiling” sits right below “decide on importance of wedding programs”. Little things mix with big things. I’m prioritizing via this little trick called memory - if I remember it, it must be important. If not, meh.
I’m totally sick of it and it’s only been this way for a few weeks.
With less than 20 days to go (ARGH!!! ohcrapohcrapohcrap), we are plugging through a thousand things, and luckily, they’re not strictly wedding-ish… or I’d probably say screw it, and not do them. But emptying random stuff from the guest suite can’t be avoided. Picking up and laundering the ever-growing piles of clothes must be done. Slipcovering the stupid couch — because we’re suckers and let the dogs sleep (and wrestle, argh) on the other slipcover, which now looks completely disgusting — has gotta happen.
And then there’s the list of real wedding tasks: finish writing ceremony, meet with preacher, send road closure paperwork to city, invite neighbors, plan ceremony situation, finish song list, pick a first dance song, etc, etc, ETCETERA. *deep breaths*

I’ve seen the cute birdcages, mailboxes, and hat boxes that brides are using these days for their card boxes on the gift table. So many of them are tailored to fit in perfectly with their themes. I, however, can’t seem to get myself to jump onto that bandwagon. Sometimes I wonder why I have to make things so hard on myself.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to think of creative options for the card box that fit us, but won’t make us go crazy. Or broke. I started thinking about vintage suitcases like this one, and how they tell there story of where you’ve been.

My weekend is going to be full of last-minute wedding stuff. But in the meantime, I have a serious crush on this dress, the designer Sassy Holford, and the photographer, Shelly Kroeger:
What’s the best wedding present ever? No, it isn’t a KitchenAid mixer. And no, it isn’t a lifetime supply of chocolate (but that would be great). The best wedding present ever is someone moving for us. What? I know. So if you remember, the Joeys are building a house right now. Actually the Joeys are waiting for their building permit (any day now!!). If the weather holds up and everything goes according to schedule, The house will be inhabitable by the time we get back from our honeymoon (if not before).
I was really stressed about moving. Mr. Joey goes back to teaching a day or two after we get back from Australia. We won’t have time to move. We thought of using the 4 days between the wedding and the honeymoon to move, but we’ll just be too tired. Plus, we scheduled our trip that way because we wanted extra time with friends and family before they left Seattle. I know the days leading up to the wedding will be stressful and crazy, and won’t leave us much time for socializing.
I told my Mom about my anxiety (and excitement) around moving, and she gave me the best gift ever.
