Why, you ask, will the Stilettos be doing some middle school dancing? This Stiletto isn’t so much of a dancer, sadly. It seems fitting, really, considering the scope of our relationship. Mr. S and I actually have a definite role reversal in many aspects of our relationship. He’s a fanatical cleaner (seriously, I’ve never cleaned the bathroom since we’ve lived together), a great cook, and always seems to know when we’re running low on the essentials like toilet paper and hand soap. If it were left to me, we’d be running to the store in a panic as each of these items ran out. I’m a much more laid back member of the household, and tend to be the one leaving shoes out and not seeing the reason for making the bed in the morning (seriously, aren’t we just going to mess it up again?!).
Anyway, where was I? Oh yes - dancing. The stereotype seems to be that women are usually better dancers and the guys struggle with no rhythm and generally avoid the dance floor. I, sadly, am the wallflower of our duo. Mr. S has natural confidence on the dance floor and is just so darn cute. In recent years, I’ve finally started going out onto the dance floor, but I need a good dose of vodka tonic to really get me going. And, let’s be honest, I probably look like a ridiculous fool… but I’ve had to make my peace with that.
So, for the first dance, I’m not anticipating any fancy twirls or big dips. I’m thinking more along the lines of my hands on his shoulders, his hands on my hips, and some awkward swaying back and forth.

Mama Frenchie and I decided to start our search at David’s Bridal (that’s right I linked to a wiki, not their website muahaha), because I just wanted to see what silhouettes looked best on me. And hey, if I fell in love with a dress there, then imagine the money we’d save!
So one Sunday, Mama Frenchie and I went to our appointment at DB. Yes, I made an appointment, and yes, I TOTALLY recommend doing so, especially if you are going on a weekend - three girls came in without appointments after me and were reprimanded and had to wait.
Lemme just run you thought my time at DB…

We’ve decided it’s time to move houses. Although we’re staying in Santa Fe, we’re opting for a lil’ lower rent and place that’s unfurnished where we can begin building our own collection of furniture (and have a place to stow any wedding gifts). We’ve been in our current place for two years now–it was our first home in Santa Fe–and we’re sad to see it go. It’s the longest we’ve ever lived anywhere together and it really felt like home. (This is starting to sound like a bad poem.)
But, it’s the truth. Mr. Cowboy Boot spent a lot of time planting a vegetable garden, building a compost bin, and fixing up the property altogether. It’s our puppies’ first home and the place we first became “parents” (to the dogs, of course). It’s where we came home to after getting engaged in Italy. It’s our first house, not apartment. It’s where our families stayed when they came to visit. It’s where we’ve had some serious talks about wedding plans, life, jobs, and finances. Essentially, it’s where we really got serious.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
I know it’s been a while, and I promised you guys I’d share a few more of my projects. I’ve just recently (in the past month or so) been able to start reading about weddings again without getting all misty-eyed and, since this would have been our wedding weekend, I thought I would share one of the first projects that I did: our wedding website.
I actually started on our wedding website before the proposal (shh…), mainly because I wanted to make sure our domain name was available.
The main page of the site gave our guests some basic things that they could do. This included giving them instructions on where they could learn “Thriller” or what hotel to book rooms at.
Here are some great ways to save beaucoup dinero that have come to my attention that I just had to share with y’all!

You may have noticed in all of the posts I’ve done about dresses thus far, I’ve never prefaced them with death threats directed at Mr. Mary Jane. I don’t ask him to leave the blog, and I don’t demand that he avert his eyes from dress-related announcements.
It’s not because he doesn’t come here - he does. He reads my posts, your comments, everything. The fact of the matter is, I want him to see my dress. I don’t know what I would do if he did not want to see it. The thing is, Mr. Mary Jane is awesome.
Seriously. He’s always honest about the way clothes look on me. He tells me if something doesn’t fit my body correctly, but he also goes a step further by letting me know if he thinks an outfit meshes with my personality.
He’s been behind the camera for most of the photos I’ve posted of my at-home dress shopping adventures. He’s provided feedback on every dress. And the dress-of-the-moment* is hanging in our closet right now, front and center. I would feel so much less confident about my wedding day beauty if I made decisions about it without input from my best bud. It just so happens that my best bud is also my groom.

As much as I wanted to hire a professional to capture our rehearsal dinner, the Bruschetta budget simply refused to allow this extra expense. Several weeks ago, though, I noticed a Weddingbee Classifieds listing for free portraits or engagement sessions in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
After a few private messages, I began emailing with the photographer — and imagine my surprise when we realized we attended high school together! Ted Nghiem, who (like me and the mister) sang in our high school choir, is pursuing his passion through Emerald Dreams Photography.
Ted agreed to extend his portrait-building offer to our rehearsal dinner (yea!), and met with me and the mister recently at Positano Coast to get a feel for the restaurant. After Ted checked out the lighting and layout, he snapped a few pictures of the Bruschettas.
…is the soon to be Mrs. Quiche!
Mr. Quiche-
As I sit here watching our family and friends strolling around, having the time of their lives, I think about how lucky we are to be blessed with an amazing backbone of love and support from everyone here. Hearing the laughter and shrieks from all of the kids as they run from the pool to the beach (and back again…and again) brings me such joy.

So… maybe it’s because I blog, or because I bought a Mac, or perhaps because both of my parents and Mr. D work with computers, that people tend to think I know my way around a computer. The reality? Not so much. Mr. D, web guru that he is, runs circles around me with his computer, and he and my parents laugh at me for my lack of computer savvy when I cry for help.
We’re getting ready to mail out the UK invitations, and thus have been researching fonts to address the envelopes with. Using With this Ring’s (aka Almost Anderson) fabulous faux-ligraphy idea, we plan to address these ourselves.
After visiting Dafont.com, UrbanFonts, and the like, I began to download a few fonts. If you, like me, don’t fully understand how to get from point A (see font/like font) to point B (effectively use the font), then this post is for you.
Basically, I had Mr. D show me several times how to use a font, and then I took a screen shot of the process. (Why yes, I did have to Google how to take a screen shot.)
Mr. Gloss is not going to be wearing a tux when our big day rolls around. It’s going to hot, and he does not deal well with heat. Plus he HATES, haaaates ’dressing up’. *Sidenote: He told me he would wear one and be happy in it if I wanted him to wear at tux… awww.* But it’s just as much his day as it is mine, and I want him to feel comfortable! We toyed with the idea of having him and the groomsmen wear suits for a while, but ultimately decided to have them wear navy blazers and khakis.

Casual, nautical and totally re-wearable! I think every guy should own a navy blazer. It’s like a perfect ‘Little Black Dress’ for boys.

After Anne Ruthmann posted her fantastic ring shooting tutorial, I had to take some shots. I didn’t even wait to get home. I used some pears our office had received as a Christmas gift and got to shooting.

Mr Frenchie did a fantastic job on my ring. As you can see, it looks very similar to the Robin’s Brothers ring I’d fallen in love with back in June.

Happy Friday! My plan for the weekend is to have a little crafting party with my lovely bridesmaid, Dana. She is also getting married this fall, and we both need to figure out what we’re doing for our invitations! We figured doing it together would be a little more fun (especially if wine is involved), and it would force us to sit down and actually design them! Procrastination has been our specialty when it comes to our invites.
Here is a sneak peek at our invite inspiration!
Dana’s color scheme is gray and ivory, with sage green accents. She is leaning towards more modern invites, possibly using some sort of circle elements in the design. I am loving this invitation from A Windy City Wedding (her sister designed them, isn’t she sweet?).
