Hi!
I’m a table! Just your regular 8 by 3 foot wood table with wood benches. Normally cute little kiddies put their tushies on my benches and joke and giggle while they eat on me. But sometimes… sometimes I get to go wild! Ladies who can’t stop smiling dress me up in new cloths and crown me with beautifully fragrant flowers. I wonder what I’ll wear for the next happy sappy lady!
Sincerely,
Miss Bear Cub’s wedding table

Hive, I need you help. I’ve got some big design shoes to fill, and some important tables I can’t disappoint. I’m stuck on how to dress up the tables for our reception!

One of the many ways I’m cutting costs for the big day is through jewelry. I’m not a fine jewelry person because I usually lose or break things. I only buy cheap, fashion jewelry from places that frequently offer buy 2 get 1 free in the mall. I’m always warning Mr. Lab that the only expensive piece of jewelry I ever want to own is my engagement ring. So when it comes to wedding day and bridal party jewelry, I’m following my own instructions.
So began the search for the wedding jewelry. I knew I’d want something with a hint of pink in both my jewelry and the bridesmaids’. I happened to run across some gorgeous pink topaz drop earrings during one of my many Google searches.

My hair and makeup trials are taking place this coming weekend, and I’ve been scrambling to put together some pictures to show the stylist the look I’m going for. This is where the problem lies. I’m no longer certain I know exactly what look I’d like to achieve on the big day. If you remember from my last hairspiration post (which was months ago) I wanted a low side bun, much like these two.

Actually, it is that easy, being green.
It occurs to me that some of you who read my posts may not understand why the Dude and I want to have a “green” wedding or what having a “green” wedding even means. I’d like to share my thoughts on the matter, while at the same time recognizing that there are many ways to make your wedding and your life more eco-friendly. We’re choosing to do a few, simple things that make our wedding have less of an environmental impact.
Why do we want our wedding to be eco-friendly?

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Not signs in the Five Man Electrical Band “long haired freaky people, need not apply” sense, but in the figurative sense.

Drawing by Brian Andreas
I’ve expresses my love of Brian Andreas in the past (his quote even made an appearance on our invites!). This story is the very first one of his that I read, some 6 years ago, and I was hooked:
I used to wait for a sign, she said, before I did anything. Then one night I had a dream and an angel in black tights came to me and said, ‘You can start any time now.’ And then I said, ‘Is this a sign?’ And the angel started laughing and I woke up. Now, I think the whole world is filled with signs, but if there’s no laughter, I know they’re not for me.
I’ve read a lot of blogs where a bride books/buys something based on a sign. There are a lot of cultures where signs are extremely significant. While I definitely think my life is grounded in reality, I have to admit that I’ve listened to signs in the past.

We finally got our wedding photos back from our photographer, so while I sift through 1500+ photos, I thought I’d talk about the couple outings we had on the days leading up to the wedding day. First up, our last minute, totally not planned, family hike up Diamond Head.
I go back to Hawaii every few years to visit friends, and every single time I’m there I make sure (and usually drag my friends) I get a chance to climb Diamond Head. Not only is it breathtaking once you get to the top, but it is very nice and easy (and good) exercise.

You know, I’ve been pretty content post-wedding as far as no more planning goes. I know a lot of brides get withdrawals from anticipating the big day or even from planning. I mean, you plan for anywhere from months to a few years, and it’s all over in a day? That’s kind of a bummer, don’t you think? Well, I don’t miss the contracts, the timelines, worrying about how I will look. I don’t miss it at all.
What do you think I miss the most? C’mon hive, you know me… you know this!

The dress! Most of us girls think it’s the most important part of the wedding, but we can’t forget about our grooms!
I’m very petite and it was hard for me to find the dress that would fit me perfectly. I went to many bridal shops and couldn’t find one that I liked. I always had in mind that I would want a lacy type of dress. I wanted more of a flowing soft fabric dress, but when I tried them on they didn’t look right. My sister and I ended up going to Terri Costa, a bridal shop that has many different bridal collections. I chose 3 dresses to try on. One had a HUGE train with blue crystal beading on top and some beading on the train, one was all lace, and one had lots of intricate beading and looked like it would fit me. My sister helped me pick the first two dresses, and the third one was just hanging by the dressing room door. I thought it looked different, and just wanted to try on for fun. The first two dresses were really heavy and looked like they swallowed me whole. When I put the third one on, it fit like a glove. It was quite different than the dress I would imagine myself choosing. I didn’t want a lot of beading, tiers, details, or even a corset top, and this dress was all that and more.
I would recommend trying on different styles of dresses even if you think you won’t like them. You might be surprised! The beading on my dress may be overwhelming for some people, but it was perfect for me. It added some mass so I didn’t look too small, and the dress had a vintage feel that fit my venue very well.

I wasn’t 100% sure we’d be able to swing a 1-year anniversary shoot, but I’m so glad everything worked out! I’ve picked out some of my favorite photos from our anniversary shoot with NY photographer, Chris Chen, to share with you (yes, it’s more than just one picture!).
Reader Johnny D recently won our the DIY Office 2008 for Mac Wedding Contest. He and his fiancee received $1000, a new MacBook, and copy of Office 2008! Apparently his whole family is thrilled with their new prize, even his adorable puppy, Lulu! Johnny sent us this sweet thank-you:
Thanks so much for the laptop. It’s such an improvement from the previous set-up, everyone’s using it to get onto weddingbee.com!
Thanks again,
Johnny D

Congrats again Johnny! We’re glad that you and Lulu have a new way to enjoy Weddingbee. ![]()
It was sugar bliss. The epitome of sweetness. Dessert heaven.
A bountiful cookie buffet, giving a nod to my Italian heritage — and supplementing the traditional wedding cake Mr. Bruschetta and I had recently embraced. I imagined servers busing ice cold milk, our guests indulging in light, layered cake and dense, freshly-baked cookies.

And then reality set in.

Mr. Cloud and I have a very special little lady in our lives; she’s white and fluffy, and her name is Bella! We actually did two shoots for our engagement photos (which I will blog more about later) and this is one of my faves from the second shoot. Our photographer Heather (of Dolphin Dance Photography) nailed our gal perfectly here! I think this is her nosey look—she always has to know what’s going on!
Obviously we had involved Bella in our engagement photos, but I really thought that would be the last of her involvement in our big day.

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to blog for Weddingbee was because I see so many bees on the boards writing about all the really tough issues they’re facing as young-ish brides. I say “young-ish” because I’ve always been kind of old for my age, but know that I still have parts of my maturity that correspond perfectly with the date on my birth certificate. Many of the other bloggers here are in their mid-20s, which is still not ancient by any stretch, but I think brides who are in their early 20s face a unique set of challenges that I haven’t seen talked about much on the blog. So here I am, hoping to ease the young-ish brides’ concerns and to let you all know that you’re not alone and you’re definitely not crazy!

At least we’re not that young, right?
I am 22 (although I’m turning the big 2-3 on July 11!), but have the added luck and difficulty of looking like I’m about 16, as you might have noticed from some of my pics. One of the hardest parts of being a young-ish bride that I’ve encountered is the general negativity I get from people I don’t know or barely know when they find out that I’m engaged.

The wedding day was a crazy day, but we got it done. Whew! And were we tired. We did the flowers for a wedding at the Biltmore hotel in Los Angeles with 250 guests. We were able to take a few pics but not as many as I would have liked. Hopefully, the bride’s photographer took some more for me.
Break down of flowers totaling over 1500 stems of flowers and greens:
Now, time for a good 2 month nap. ![]()
Here are a few pics during the getting ready and the day of. And for you bees this is the wedding of Mrs. Glitter. Don’t want to give too much away, as she will surely share. Her dress (OMG) was absolutely stunning…wow!!! She looked amazing to no end!
