I Think I’m Gonna Cheat

Shh… don’t tell anyone!!

Don’t worry… not on Mr. Swan! I think I might cheat on my hairstylist! Hive, I don’t know about you, but I always feel better after I’ve gotten my hair did. I also know that the person who helps care for my hair (and I’m sure yours) has to be someone I can trust, or at least does a good job. I really like the women that currently do my hair, but I’m thinking about cheating on them for the wedding!

When I had my initial conversation with my current stylists, I wasn’t exactly sure what to think. They want me to come in a month before the wedding to discuss possible styles. I’m kinda concerned about that time frame. Perhaps it’s the super planner in me, but that seems too close to the wedding. I feel like I need more time, or at least an actual trial OR TWO to see what styles might actually work.

I’m also wondering if I should see who else is out there and whether I should get a second opinion. I don’t know if I should be staying with what I know, or possibly cheating on them to make sure I’ve covered all of my bases. I am also particularly concerned because our late morning ceremony requires me to possibly do something to my hair the day before, and work a little magic that morning. Essentially, I don’t want to have a conversation about my hair, but instead I’d actually like to see what’s in store MORE THAN ONCE.

Can you imagine that my hair is one of the few things stressing me out right now? (Well, escort cards and cupcake displays are bothering me too, but no one will be looking at those all day.)

Is anyone thinking about “cheating” on a stylist or other service provider that your regularly use as you prepare for the wedding? Am I being paranoid? It’s not like I’m the first bride they’ve had come through their shop.

I’m totally cheating on my regular hair dresser….for various reasons but with 11 days to go I’m not stressing about my hair which is a good feeling (not that I’m not stressing about my makeup still).

I’m cheating, but she knows all about it. My hairstylist doesn’t do up-dos, so every time I’ve needed a fancy style some one else has done it. This time, though, my FSIL will be doing my hair because she is a hairstylist and does amazing up-dos. Plus she’s a bridesmaid and will be there all day to touch up!

I’m was going to cheat on my hair stylist, but she knew b/c my mom’s hair stylist was attending our wedding. Now he can’t come and I think one of my bridesmaids is just going to do it :) That way I can do as many trails as we need.

I’m cheating and she knows it. Actually, she introduced me to the gal that will be doing my hair. My stylist is renewing her vows the night before my wedding, so she won’t be able to do mine.

Yes I did, although I did give my gal first dibs. I lot of day to day hair stylists aren’t interested in bridal anyway, so you might get off the hook pretty easily.

I’m cheating, because I need someone who will come to our hotel room in the city!

I’m cheating but she knows. She can’t do it since she’ll be out of town!

I had a hair trial with a girl but looking back I don’t like it so I’m cheating with her and finding someone else. eh, oh well.

I’m cheating for my wedding. The person who was going to do my hair was a friendor, but I quickly saw that our styles were not going to mesh enough for it to work out. Luckily she was incredibly gracious that I asked for an open relationship. I couched it in terms where I wanted her to be able to enjoy the wedding day. I found a complete rockstar who shares and can implement my vision!

Probably. He’s an amazing stylist, but he doesn’t really do “wedding hair.” My sister used him and she looked great, but it didn’t last all night–that would drive me nuts! Plus I don’t know how I feel asking him to travel nearly two hours to do my hair.

I probably won’t cheat, but that’s only because my best friend is a stylist, and I don’t trust anyone else. But if I were you, I agree, I think one month may be too close. I would freak out about the time frame, too. And especially since this is one of your top priorities to explore, right?

I have been going to the same salon since I was a little girl, and she’s never raised her prices on me. I get a hair cut, color, highlights, eyebrow wax, and lip/chin wax for about $80. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut the problem is that when she finishes, she always wants to style my hair like a little porcelain doll. While she’s fantastic at coloring and what not, I think I will cheat on her for the style and go somewhere local where they have made their name in wedding styles. She’s already kind of let me off the hook though because she is the sole employee at her salon, so she said since I’d have my bridesmaids getting their hair/makeup/nails done, it would be best to go to a bigger salon for our wedding day stuff. WHEW!

I’m definitely NOT cheating, but I love the up-dos my stylist does!

When I had to do my college recital, I had my hair done the day before and slept on it. I had a TON of hairspray and a lot of pins, and she pulled everything REALLY tight. It loosened overnight and looked fantastic the next day with a five minute touch-up! Make sure you trial this before if that’s the route you choose to go though - we did it about a month before to be sure that my mom could do the touch-up.

Don’t worry about it, do what you’re gonna do. It’s just business and you need to be calm and looking good.

God, I love Rihanna’s eyeliner in that picture.

Im definitely cheating on my hairdresser. I just can’t rely on him to be on time the day of my wedding. I don’t want to be stressed about that so I am currently in the process of looking for someone who can work with my fro’ and be on time!

I’m not going to cheat….both the people who do my make up (well, she usually just waxes my brows) and hair have offered for months- as in way before the relationship even got serious- to travel to wherever we decide to get married. I love both of them and think it is the best gift I could receive.

Both of my sisters went elsewhere when they got married- they had done formal hair with the stylist before and knew it wasn’t her strong point. One moved after the wedding, so no big deal. The other one, well, lots of hard feelings when the topic was raised by the stylist, so she now goes elsewhere. I say go with your gut, but be prepared for the potential of hurt feelings.

I’m cheating! Mine actually recommended someone else! She said she doesn’t do wedding hair as great as this other person. I appreciated her honesty, even though that meant “cheating” on her! :) It was kinda nervous for me because i like going to someone I can trust too. I think in the end your hair dresser should understand this is an important day and hopefully she won’t feel too hurt…
Looking your best the day of is super important! It will be in your pictures forever! Def go with your gut- you need to feel good that day!

I’m going in just over a month ahead of time for my trial… BUT, she was highly recommended for weddings…. without being TOO weddingy. Have you had your hair done in that manner before by your current stylist? I would go with who you feel most comfortable with giving you exactly what you’re looking for.

I’m cheating, and my stylist is my FSIL. I know its terrible and I haven’t quite worked out all the details. I am planning on telling her I don’t want her to have to work the day of the weddings.. its just that i have VERY curly hair and she cuts and colors it fine but updo’s call for special forces. Not everyone knows what to do with thick, textured curls. Hey, lets not feel bad its one day.. we can go right back to them after the wedding.
