I decided to have some letterpress business cards printed up as a gift for Mrs. Penguin recently. We don’t really have official titles here at Weddingbee, so when I got to thinking what Mrs. Penguin’s title should be, I realized that she’s really been the Editor in chief since the beginning of this year. She’s been doing a fantastic job — she loves Weddingbee and it really shows!
Meanwhile I’ve been able to concentrate on growing traffic and building new features.
Mrs. Bird of Paradise recently started her own letterpress shop, so she pulled together these wonderfully clean designs for us. Mrs. Penguin wants you guys to decide on her business cards, so please let us know what you think!
Option A: The logo in “Weddingbee green” with Cathleya’s deets in silver. The hearts would be blind (no ink) embossed into the cards.

Option B: The logo in “Weddingbee green” with Cathleya’s deets and the bee path in a lighter green.

Option C: The logo and Cathleya’s deets in “Weddingbee green” with a red heart. This card is also slightly shorter than a standard business card so that it stands out.

Which card should Mrs. Penguin choose and why?

I work in construction and I get business cards alllll the time…and the ones that stand out to me are the ones that are in a cool color (The Langham Hotel has pink business cards/pink stationary etc) or an odd size. So I say #2 all the way.

Option #2! The bee path is symbolic
of all the bloggers (past, present and future) on the site, and has a simple, clean, modern look.

Oh, and you’ve been doing a fab job, Pengy! Enjoy you well-deserved letterpress goodness. whatever design is the final one. ![]()
I say #1 design (love the embossing), #3 size….I have oversized business cards and everyone loves them….and people keep them. I have to admit that most business cards end up under my car seat…at the bottom of my purse and other random locations.
I like a mix of the three. I like the Weddingbee written in weddingbee green with the bee path in a lighter green, but I think the wording should be in the silver and the heart in the red. I think it would stand out a little more. Take the best from each of the cards.
I like 1 the best I think, followed by 2….I don’t like #3 at all. I don’t like odd sized business cards since they don’t fit as nicely into my business card holder.

Um, whoa, I need to organize my thoughts into one comment. Have you considered a square-shaped card. They REALLY stand out in a pile!
ooh was that a mistake to post her full name on here? I always thought you girls had the fake names to remain anonymous
I agree that odd sized cards are where its at. The company I work for has extra thick (think double thick) business cards and a bit oversized printed on both sides. People always comment and agree that its hard for those ones to get lost in the shuffle.
I say 3!
Great job Pengy! You are doing a fabulous job!
I like colored business cards, but not oddly shaped ones just because they often don’t fit well with the other ones in the stack or if it was square, wouldn’t fit in my holder and would likely end up in my pants –> washing machine.
Mr. Bearcub and I agree - the last one is the cutest!

I like option B best but think it would look even better with silver instead of light green details.
Also, I really don’t like odd-sized business cards. They’re harder for me to keep organized!
@keyedontie: Mrs. Bee gave me the option to remain anonymous, but because this is my real-life work, I’m happy to reveal my secret (real) identity. ![]()
Can you do a mix of #2 & #3? I love the Bee path embossed, but I like the heart and the different sized card.
Great designs BOP!
and ditto to Miss Bruschetta, you’re doing a FAB job Pengy! ![]()
I like option C the best. I agree that I always notice when I get a business card that is a different size or shape. Bright colors don’t really do it for me, so I love the simple design of these. I bet they will look awesome in letterpress!
I like #2 best but with the red heart from #3! Also, just as an aside…should it be Editor in Chief with a capital C instead of Editor in chief with a lowercase C because it’s a title? My grammar police brain wants it to be capitalized. What say you, Ms. Editor? Love the cards! ![]()
Bee Path & Shorter Card.
The shorter card allows it to ’stand out’ but still fits into the standard business card holder (which is key for it not to get lost
)
I like all 3 for different reasons!
#1 - the embossed hearts to frame the card
#2 - the lighter green bee path
#3 - the pink heart
In any case, I like that they each look clean. ![]()
I LOVE C. I have a suggestion that might help the card stand out even more though! What about doing the painted edges ala Miss Gloss? In the green or the red (to coordinate w/ the heart?).
I love the last option, but why not make it standard size? If it doesn’t fit into people’s wallets, they may be less likely to keep it!
I think this:
Weddingbee in weddingbee green
name/title in lighter green
heart and bee path blind embossed
weird shape (either square or like #3, etc.)
PAINTED EDGES (lighter green)
haha.
I think the number 1 option on the number 3 size
Its both simple and unique!

I love #3 for the card shape, but the embossing is just so cute, too!

I would combine Options A & B (I like to keep business cards in pretty universal sized files and C would end up lost, even if it stood out to me when I first received it!). I’d do the Weddingbee and detail text as it is in Option A, but with the bee path instead of the hearts (either in a lighter color like silver or blind embossed)–it just makes more immediate sense than the hearts to me.
But if combining isn’t an option, I prefer A.
Option C! With a few changes. Add the bee path, but instead of using green ink have the pattern blind embossed onto the card. Also, instead of using a red for the heart I would maybe use fuschia, or a color that’s almost red. (slight difference but I try to avoid pairing green and red).
I like the embossed hearts on option A. I like the bee path on option B. And I like how option C stands out.

#3 all the way. The red heart is awesome and so is the smaller size!
I like Option C. It is unique and will definitely stand out. The only thing to think about is how it will fit in business card holders! Maybe a fun one made via Etsy will do the trick!
#1 in #3 size; are you having the back side colored? It’d be cool if the backside was the same green…
I really like 2’s logo, but with 1’s silver writing in 3’s size.
Option C all the way! I love that it’s skinnier. And the red heart adds a nice subtle touch to it ![]()
I’d prefer to merge options 2 & 3. Incorporate the bee trail, but with the size/layout of 3. If a combination is not an option, I like #3 best.
I love No. 2 because I love the bee path. But I also love the blind embossed hearts…
I’m with the Option C fans! The red heart stands out and would make me take a second look!
I like #2… I think the bee path is what all Weddingbee’s are about!
I love the last option- it’s so cute and it will really stand out.
I like the colors and heart embossed on A, the bee path on B, and the size of C as long as the length is the same as a regular business card so it still fits in wallets and stuff. I agree with Alisha, an odd shape may stand out, but I’m usually annoyed by them when I have to store them so I end up throwing them away.
I love LOVE the design of Option #3 (the heart catches your eye!)….but I’m with “anon.” The odd shape wouldn’t fit in my business card holder, should this card be from a vendor contact. So that would be sort of a pain.
#1. professional AND cute. #3 is a little ‘too’ cute to be taken seriously, IMO.
May I make a suggestion?
Instead of the icon of the heart between her name and the title ‘editor in chief’… maybe instead put a mini icon of the bee with the hearts??? So Option #2- since you have the little bee swirl in it… but then with a bee added in there if possible???
I personally like the blind embossing option of A, but there seems to be too much negative space. Why not go with option A at the size of option C. That’s my vote!
Definitely #3…with either a colored back of colored edges(my new fave)
I think I vote for #3. I love the red heart and the distinct size.

I love number 2! The bee path makes it! But I would make the heart red like #3 for an extra pop!
I really like the pink heart in #3, but the size seems a bit more rectangular than regular business cards. Could just be me though.
I love number 3! Just a little bit different and stands out to me a bit more.
Btw, Mrs. Pengy, you do a fabulous job!
i like #2, but with the pink heart. #3 is my 2nd choice!
2+3= great!! : )
Like everyone else I love the bee path, the red hearth, and the odd shape. : )

bee path with shorter card. The bee path might look cool “blind” rather than light green. All of them are fab!
Honestly, if you’re actually using these for professional reasons, you should really go with a normal shaped normal size card. I would go with option two, with the text in green with the bee trail blind. That’s just me though.
If I had to pick one - as is - it would be #3. I love the pop of color with the red heart. . . but I also really love the embossed hearts on #1
Aww… thanks you guys for all the kind words! Mr. Penguin agreed that he likes the standard size better… he typically staples them into Rolodexes (because he lives in the 18th century) and said he wouldn’t know what to do with a smaller card! Haha.
Mrs. Bee! Thank you so much for this gift, of of course, yummy letterpress, and more importantly, such a lofty title.
These are so hard to pick from, I trust the hive’s judgment! You’ve all never steered me wrong!
I LOVE the red heart in option C, but like many have already said, I prefer the standard sized business cards better.
I don’t really like option B as it is now because I personally had a really hard time seeing the bee path. I might like it better if it were a little darker.
It would be cool to see a mixture of A and B (heart in the corner but swirly line across the card)
Adorable! And wow, quite the last name! People mispronounce mine all the time and it’s only 7 letters, but I guess I should stop complaining.
I always gotta change stuff….SO…I like #2 because of the background, but I would love it best if it had the red heart from #3.
Um, what’s wrong with me? I totally forgot…Mrs. Pengy, thank you so very much for all that you do for us!
I like #3 the best as well. I thinkt he all green reminds me very much of the Bee. Perfection. And you are awesome Mrs. Peng!
#2! I love the bee path and that the isn’t too much emphasis on the hearts. Yay Peng!
#2! I love the bee path and that there isn’t too much emphasis on the hearts. Yay Peng!
Option A! Because I love silver and embossing.
I like that it’s not ALL green like the other two.

I like B & C. The red heart on C is cute and I like the shorter length. I like the bee path (although it’s hard to see on my monitor, it may look better in person) on option B.
#3 please! the little red heart just pump the whole thing up~ not so sure about others comment on the odd size, for myself, weddingbee is not a corporate business, and can go as much creative as you want to get others attention!
I like option A the best. I think the silver deets make the logo stand out and provide a bit of a serious contrast. I am not a fan of odd sized business cards because they easily get lost. I’m a networker and when you do things like trade shows and conferences you get so many cards it is easy to lose the ones that don’t fit. I see how making it the right width but short could be fine but I tend to shuffle through business cards in a deck and would easily miss the little one when looking for a contact I made at a trade show (which is where I assume most of these will be given out). Also, what do Mrs. Bee’s look like, consistency is nice.
Not a fan of the green or silver. Love the blind embossing in one, the bee trail in 2 and the size of three. If I had to pick, it would be #2 (B).
I agree with other suggestions - combine the bee path in 2 with the red heart in 3.
I like #1, but I think you should add the bee path from #2. What fantastic cards!
I’m so glad you are doing this for her! She has been so kind in answering my questions about e-rings! I think like others have said combine the bee path with the red heart. I like the meaning behind the path but I love the punch of color. It catches your eye! ![]()

Such a hard decision. They are all great designs!
I like #2, but I would add the blind embossed hearts to it. It would be such a sweet, subtle detail.
I like the hearst on #1 and think those should be in pink. Also, I think it would be so much cuter with the Bee guy in there buzzing around. Without the colors, all 3 cards look kind of plain.
