About Mrs. Joey

Thank You, Thank You

June 3rd, 2009 @ 9:27 am by Mrs. Joey

Ah, the thank you cards. I knew from the beginning that I (I say I because “we” didn’t care) wanted to do postcards. I love getting postcards more than I like getting letters. Maybe it’s because I’ve sent so many as a traveler, or because I love seeing images of all the places my friends and family have visited.

Originally I was going to go with something like this:

And then I wanted to do something more personal, like takign a cheesy picture of Mr. Joey and me holding the presents and giving the camera a wink and a thumbs up.

The first option was doable, but I wasn’t feeling it so much.

I loved the second option, but it was so labor intensive. I thought about buying postcards of Seattle (5 for a $1.00), but it wouldn’t be that much fun for those who live here (most of the guest list).

These aren’t 5 for $1.00, but they’re pretty!

Instead, I decided to try and incorporate our colors and some of our luggage tag designs onto some postcards I bought. I found some 140lb blank watercolor postcards on MisterArt for $3.10 a pack. There are 15 cards in a pack. I selected some images and printed them directly onto the postcards. All in all, I got about 65 postcards done at about $0.24 a piece.

I was still attached to the Banana Republic rehearsal dinner invite design, so I printed some of those up on leftover 80lb paper and trimmed the edges. The inside of the card is blank. I have 38 envelopes leftover from the rehearsal dinner invites I can use. We may still buy a few Seattle postcards for guests who couldn’t make it to the wedding.

I tried not to make all the postcards look wedding-y, just in case we have leftovers. We can use them as regular thank you notes in the future.

Are your thank you notes specific to your wedding, or can leftovers be used post-wedding?

Love the bracketed thank you with bells. Good idea to create designs that can “live” beyond the wedding!

You are so unbelieveably talented - I’m quite jealous! I think they look amazing and would be very impressed if I got one in the mail! :-)

We haven’t gotten thank-you’s, yet…but I’m hoping to do some with pictures from the wedding/honeymoon!

These are great! Did you just print them with a regular “at-home” printer?

I’m planning on having a sign that says “Thank You” and a picture of us taken with it the day of te wedding and using that as the front of a notecard. But hte postcards are super cute- and can be done ahead of time!

These came out great. I have so many different ideas running through my head for what we’ll do and I love that you did multiple designs!

I am with you Miss Joey, I LOVE postcards and really would like to incorporate them into the wedding. I was debating table numbers and reply cards and the like.

My final decision is to use them as our thank you notes and at reply cards. These will help with the style we’re looking for and the cheaper postage we’re planning on!

For our thank you notes I want to make them like the SEATTLE card in your post but with our fun wedding pictures in the letters. We’ll see how they turn out? Our reply cards are going to be pretty much blank, only a blank text bubble on the one side for our guests to (hopefully) be creative in their reply’s. We will show them off at the wedding if they are fun!

Doh! I forgot one of the designs. We turned the bike design into a thank you too. It’s my favorite one!

We have chops of our names from a trip to Taiwan, and had cards made at a local printer with just the chops in the corner. Since they don’t have a wedding theme–or even say thank you on them–we can use them indefinitely, for anything. Which is good, because we got a bajillion of them.

we’re planning to use Moo greeting cards so each one can be personalized, probably with a picture of us + said guests.
we’re having a small guest list (40) so that’s manageable.
