Thanks for all your input on the insanely cute business cards! There was an overwhelming love for card #3. Many of you mentioned that the bee path would look neat as a blind hit, and I totally agree! For now, I tried to Photoshop the merge of cards 2 and 3, with the bee path being a letterpress print impression with no ink (rather than green, pictured). I’m not sure if the path can interfere with my name like that, but we’ll leave it up to the pro, Mrs. Bird of Paradise! You likey? Me likey!

I’m the kind of person that thinks that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. So I’m hesitant to talk about how insanely excited I am to look towards the future, and the good fortune I have just being here today. So, instead, I thought I’d talk a little bit about how I got here!
A few days after my honeymoon (no time wasted there), Mrs. Bee asked me to call her in regards to possibly doing some day-to-day editing work for Weddingbee. Mrs. Bee, Mr. Bee, and BIL Bee were (and remain) an incredible trio that, in my opinion, will never be matched as a team. Mrs. Bee takes an incredible amount of pride in this website—after all, it bears her name!—and while I think she would have preferred to clone herself, she was apparently skeptical of human cloning advances at the time and had no choice but to call for backup.
The thought of working—in any capacity—for Weddingbee was exciting.
I gladly accepted, and worked a few hours a day on Weddingbee, while still maintaining my full time job as a video producer. A few hours became a half day, and a half day became 40 hours a week, and pretty soon I had two full time jobs. These past few months have been heinously exhausting interesting, to say the least. Had it not been for the endless hours of DIY and wedding planning during the previous year (also a full time job in itself!) I’m not sure I could have handled it. I am now fully confident that any woman that has planned her own wedding has gained the ability to work twice as long daily as she was capable of pre-engagement. Don’t you feel that way? After you’ve spent a year planning and executing a wedding while maintaining a full time job, you’re pretty much left with a gaping hole of time in your day after the wedding is over.
I finally came to realize that I had two fulfilling jobs, but little else. During particularly busy weeks, I’d make it to about Thursday morning before I would just break down and cry from sheer exhaustion. And every time I came across a blog talking about “doing what you love”, I’d whimper a little. I was being groomed as a video producer since I was in high school. Did I like what I was doing? Sure. But I came to realize that I simply enjoyed the paycheck. And while I tried my hardest to work from my new married home as much as possible, it just wasn’t possible to stay at home with Mr. Peng for more than 3 days a week, especially if we were busy, because my clients were mostly based in my hometown, 2 hours from where Mr. Peng and I currently reside. But at the end of the day, what I went home and talked eagerly about to Mr. Penguin was Weddingbee. If you asked me what I loved, without hesitation, I would say that I loved Weddingbee, and that it was my secret dream to be able to really work from home—our married home—and focus my full energy on growing the blog.
Transitioning out of my video business—a family business—is something that has been a bit hard for me to do. Leaving affects not only me, but my parents, in a great way, and I’m ever thankful for the opportunities they’ve provided me. But following my heart has been one thing that I know I’ll never regret.
And Weddingbee is where my heart is.
Mr. Peng and I celebrate our 1-year anniversary this weekend, which also marks my approximate 1-year anniversary working as an editor here at Weddingbee. I would not find success in this job if it weren’t for the incredible bees who contribute daily, sharing what they love so that we all can benefit from the fruits of their wedding planning labor. The best part of being an editor for Weddingbee is being able to interact with the 130 (yes, I counted) bees, past and present, on a daily basis. I’m excited to focus my full energy on growing the blog and continuing to call Weddingbee my heart, and my home, as I have for the past few years!
Passionate sloppy tongue kisses,
Pengy
P.S. - Hell yeah my last name has 15 letters. How many extraneous letters does your last name have?
