May I Escort You to Your Table?

June 4th, 2009 @ 5:11 pm by Mrs. Joey

I bet you can guess what’s been on my mind lately — escort cards, and how to display them. I have no idea why, and it isn’t my highest priority right now, but I can’t stop thinking about them. Of course, I went straight to Martha to gather ideas.

I’m thinking a combination of images 1 and 4, and maybe even a little of 3. I have an idea in my head that involves Goodwill, some left over fabric from table runners, a package of yard sale price tags I found at my parents’ house, and some spray paint. I might even throw in a white platter and few flowers. This may be my weekend wedding project. I can’t wait to play with it and share.

How are you displaying your escort cards?

We’re putting our cards on the tables for the guest and then having a chart/map at the front for them to find their table.

But if we weren’t doing it that way I’d be seriously considering #2 :)

We decided not to have escort cards since we only have 40 guests and they’re clustered in large groups anyway. i had intended to use luggage tag-style paper tags with their names hand written, to go with our travel theme.

Miss Joey, I have totally been on an escort card kick myself the past week. I ordered some eco white placecards from Paper Source… which was a good base… and now I don’t know where to go from here! Looking forward to seeing your finished project for inspiration ;-)

I am a huge fan of escort cards on a bulletin board, like image 1. Can’t wait to see how yours turn out!

I found this idea for escort cards that I fell in LOVE with, also from Martha. (Oh boo, I can;t leave a picture!)

I think were displaying amongst different size pictures of all our grandparents, godparents, and parents wedding photos.

We are using our favors (jars of jam) as escort cards. I covered the lids with fabric tied on with raffia, and printed name with table assignments out on cardstock and used a 2 inch punch to make “labels” for the top of the jars. I stuck them on with double-sided tape. They are cute….but it took FOREVER to do 75 of them. I’m still not totally sure how to best display them….guess I should figure that out before next week.

I am planning to do something similar to one. I saw a photo somewhere online where the back was removed from the picture frame and replaced with vertical ribbons of varrying colors. I bought blue (lake) place cards from Paper Source, two vintage frames from a yard sale and grograin ribbon in blue and white and plan to just hang the cards over the rows of ribbon. There may also be some sprac paint involved if I decide the frame should be white.

I was inspired by the last one, but I did it with tented cards and vintage-y looking paper. They were mostly picked up when we arrived, but I saw a pic of them from our DOC, and I think they turned out lovely! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I’m setting up my favours on a table with tags facing up (jars of honey with a shipping tag) and their name and table name will be on the tag…then I will have place cards on the tables so people will not specifically which seat is theirs….this got me out of having to make a chart with names etc…which frankly scares the jeepers out of me!
