Adding It Up

June 5th, 2009 @ 1:07 pm by Mrs. Joey

What do you get when you add this…

Adding It Up : wedding decor diy reception Cufflin

to this…

Adding It Up : wedding decor diy reception Fabric4

plus this?

Adding It Up : wedding decor diy reception Wedding01

Our table numbers.

Adding It Up : wedding decor diy reception Tablen

all images except fabric

I’ve been thinking about how to label tables. Our venue offered us pre-made table numbers in little silver frames. I wasn’t sold on them, but thought they’d be OK if my brain couldn’t come up with something better. Then a few days ago, I was surfing Martha’s website and found the last image. So perfect.

The plan is to cover some buttons (thanks for the instructions, Martha) and use them in place of the cufflinks. I like the idea for different fonts for the numbers. I think I’m going to use different fonts for each number and have that correspond to the font I use on escort cards. I also want to match the fabric on the buttons to the fabric used on the cufflinks. Each table will have a different fabric print.

I’m so excited. The idea just came to me, and it seemed perfect. I need to decide whether to put a bottle of wine on each table, or fill each bottle with water. What do you think?

Cute idea! Fill it with wine and you’ll have a table decoration that guests will be *sure* to take home. ;)

I saw and wanted to do this too. I love the idea! My venue allows us to bring in wine for a small corkage fee, so we’re bringing in full bottles - 2 per table with the number on it! My only fear is that the guests will turn the bottles (labels facing the wrong way) or finish them too quickly, and the servers will lose track of the tables!

Great idea—Martha does it again! I’m looking forward to seeing how your take on this turns out.

@Lillisa: That’s a good point… though, if you did something that kind of elevated the bottle, it would make guests less likely to mess with it. Plus, it’s nice to have different heights for your arrangements, to give more visual interest. If they were up a tier, i don’t think people would start to drink them right away. By the time a little later in the reception that they got consumed, the guests and the servers would already know which tables were which.

Miss Joey i love the idea!

That’s such a great idea! Please post pics of any mock-ups you make!

Were those bottles from the “tuxedo” themed wedding in the Martha magazine? I think that’s where I remember them from and that was my ABSOLUTE favorite theme in that issue! In fact I’m using it as my wedding inspiration so I may be following in your footsteps as well with the wine bottles.

Could you use bottles of Perrier or Panna?

I guess I would just use empty bottles rather than filling them, for spillage reasons.
