On Friday I woke up bright and early again, this time in my parents’ living room. Mom and dad were up shortly thereafter and we set about gathering caffeine and our wits for the day. My sister/MOH was still dead to the world, but since it was MY weekend I cracked the whip, and soon we were all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

The ladies and I had a big day ahead of us as we had early morning mani/pedi appointments for the entire bridal party and my mom’s sisters, followed by a leisurely bridal lunch at (my fave!) California Pizza Kitchen and an errand or two before the rehearsal and welcome dinner. I was a ball of nerves as I was super excited about all of the fun ahead of us, and scared to death about the weather. The sky was still ominously dark at 10:30AM and you could cut the humidity with a knife, the air was so thick. When we arrived at the nail salon it began to drizzle and I started to shut down. I tried to put on a happy face and made small talk with my girls and the super sweet nail techs, but I don’t think I was very successful.
The bridesmaids and I were done first, so we decided to head to CPK to grab a table. As soon as we opened the door to leave we were greeted by a torrential downpour. Pink umbrellas open, we made our way across the parking lot to our lunch spot. Once we were seated, my girls did their best to cheer me up. We made idle conversation and took some cheese-ball photos to lighten the mood.

See, I’m HAPPY! The rain DOES NOT affect me WHAT-SO-EVER…

We were about to order when we heard a terrible crash and then the power went out. Seriously. That was it for me.
About ten seconds later the power came back on and BMChristina was on the hunt for our waiter to get some Pinot delivered, stat. A generous glass (or 2) later and I was beginning to realize that there wasn’t a damn thing I could do about the weather so I might as well sit back and enjoy myself. I mean, I was still on vacation and about to marry my best friend after 10 blissful years of courting. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself.
Lunch was over and we had a few hours until we were set to begin the rehearsal. The rain was letting up and I had a nice buzz tied on, so things were looking somewhat better. My sister and I headed over to the Men’s Warehouse, conveniently located in the same shopping center, to pick up the tuxes for the groomsmen, ushers, and my man. Upon arrival, I learn that half the guys hadn’t paid in full for their tuxes yet AND the groom’s tux WAS STILL IN AUSTIN. Oh, and they couldn’t guarantee it would be in San Antonio in time for the wedding.
Awesome. This was exactly what I needed in light of the weather situation.
