SoleMates

June 5th, 2009 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. French Bulldog

I can’t remember what I started drooling over first, wedding dresses or wedding shoes. I LOVE shoes! (Really, what girl doesn’t?) If I take a look at the collection of shoes I’ve bookmarked over the past 7 months (have I really been planning that long?) I see a trend—pumps.

But a couple months ago it hit me - I’m getting married on GRASS! I will walk down a grass aisle and I will mingle on grass during our reception.

Those heels are going to sink right in. What is a French Bulldog to do? I can’t change our venue, that would just be crazy. I guess I could wear wedges, like the wise Mrs Pomegranate, but I don’t think wedges would go well with my lacy dress. Plus, I’ve only found one pair I like.

Christian Louboutin doesn’t come cheap, and if I’m buying Louboutin, I want a red sole, darn it!

Enter, my SoleMates, not to be confused with my soul mate, Mr. Frenchie.

According to their website, SoleMates increase the surface area of the heel base, which of course reduces the pressure so you don’t irrigate the lawn. A pretty genius invention, if you ask me. Mama Frenchie picked up a pair of these in clear for me at a local boutique, but they can also be ordered online.

Just in case you’re wondering how well they work, I tested them out at our venue this weekend and I didn’t sink at all.

Are you getting married on the grass too? What kind of shoes are you wearing?

I wish I would have known about sole mates before a couple of weeks ago. I “settled” for some wedges that I’m not thrilled with but that my dress it now tailored to :(

Those are pretty great! Too bad I’m a disaster in heels! I knew from the very start that I would be wearing flats, and that has little to do with the outside ceremony and a lot to do with not wanting to waddle down the aisle.

I bought these: http://i41.tinypic.com/14b5auw.jpg and I will be wrapping the tan part with bright turquoise ribbon to match my colors.

Over here we have this fabulous selection of them

But I have no need for them so can use the excuse to bling up my wedding shoes.

My aisle (It’s mine, ALL MINE…. mwahahah… ahem) isn’t grass but it’s just plain DIRT. I’m wearing wedges because I CANNOT walk in heels but I’m semi-ok in wedges. I love my wedges (I keep mis-typing… wedgies are NOT comfortable wedges ARE!) and they match my dress so I’m happy. :D

these seem great! they really work? I’m so nervous abouu sinking into grass so was planning on trying to find wedges. Though it’s hard to find formal enough ones. Any ideas anyone? But maybe I’ll try solemates.

I discoverd Soulmates at a friend’s wedding after I was 2 inches in grass and she was just fine! Ladies, if you are considering them - DO IT! They are a livesaver :) After struggling to find wedges that my bridesmaids and I loved, it was much easier to find fantastic pumps and spend a few dollars on the soulmates :)

You mean aerate the lawn? It’d be a neat trick if you packed a sprinkler system into those shoes ;)

Both my ceremony and reception will be on grass, but I refuse to buy wedges!!!!! I’m glad to hear feedback about these - looks like I will have to purchase a pair!

Thank you so much! I’ve been looking for these forever. Our reception is at a grassy park and I’m pretty sure Parks and Rec doesn’t need me aerating their lawn.
Grassy-as, senorita!

My sister, mom and I are each getting a pair of these, since our formal pictures before the ceremony will be on grass. :-)

I used these for my wedding two months ago. They worked perfectly! I didn’t sink once.. but I did lose one by the end of the night :)

I am also getting married outdoors, and thought about sending them with my invitations.

I’m getting married on grass as well and will be wearing peep toe pumps. I’ll be getting a pair of these babies for sure!

I was in my sisters wedding last august and the ceremony was outside on grass. We wore these little stick on heel things so our stillettos didn’t sink. I guess the stickiness wasn’t enough to hold onto the heel because they all came off and we all sunk anyway. For the price about $4 a pair, I think it was a total rip off.
