Mrs. Bruschetta's Picture
Mrs. Bruschetta, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 25, Communication Professional Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapy Graduate Student Engagement Date: November 30, 2007 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: St. Thomas of Villanova Church & the F.U.E.L. House About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
About Mrs. Bruschetta

Last week marked a momentous occasion — and an exciting few days — in the Bruschetta household: My mister became a doctor!*

Dr./Mr. Bruschetta has worked immensely hard, tacking on this three-year physical therapy program immediately after his undergraduate degree, and working multiple (at times, up to five) part-time jobs while maintaining magna cum laude full-time student status. He’s financed both his B.S. and DPT degrees himself (with the help of a whole lotta loans) and as a result, is incredibly organized and resourceful — which, of course, has proved helpful during the wedding planning!

I’ve noticed how passionate the mister/doctor is about his chosen field — sometimes, these observations have been when he’s treating me, since (like Mrs. Cupcake) I’m a self-confessed klutz. I’ve gained an incredibly knowledgeable gym buddy who’s created some of the most demanding and intense workouts I’ve ever attempted. And I’m over-the-moon thrilled that Doctor-Mister Bruschetta’s reached his goal, and oh-so proud of him for doing so with such great focus.

Who knew I’d actually get lucky enough to marry a doctor?

Are you (or your fiance) celebrating any significant milestones mere months before your wedding?

*All the DPT students have finished the necessary courses, and are now completing the last requirement: their fourth and final clinical affiliation, which runs for 10 weeks. So although they all walked in the Commencement exercises, they won’t be receiving diplomas until after the affiliations conclude.

I’ll be graduating from law school (May 2010), taking the bar (July 2010), and getting married (Sept. 2010) all within mere months of one another. Next year is going to be a very big milestone year for me :) Congratulations to Dr./Mr. Bruschetta! It’s always exciting getting to meet those goals :)

Congratulations Dr. B! Mr. Peng is also a DPT, and there is quite a war in his company fighting over good therapists, because they are so hard to come by! At meetings, they war over who is getting which therapist (the PTs move around offices as they wish, because there is always an opening everywhere). You should have no trouble finding a job… what a great field to be in right now! :)

Congrats! My fiance proposed to me 2.5 weeks ago, and I also graduated w/ my PhD last week. What a busy time. Rather than being Mr. and Mrs., or Dr. and Mrs., we will be Mr. and Dr.!

SO exciting and congrats! I have my DPT too, it’s a great field to work in!
*Just a quick note, you have to be careful using the “Dr.” title, some states are still a bit behind and a PT can get fined for referring to themselves as a Doctor. It’s crazy, I know, but i’ve seen it happen, even after ALL the hard work!!!

@CO919: Mr. Peng doesn’t refer to himself as a Dr. either… he comes from a family of MDs, so I think he feels weird about it… but I didn’t even know you could get fined! :O

@CO919: @Mrs. Penguin: Mr. Bruschetta won’t be going as “Dr.” either, since his first objective is to make his patients feel comfortable and relaxed around him…plus, he still looks way too young for that title to “fit” him — and will most likely be working with PT professionals who entered the field before this advanced degree was popular (or even available)…and it would be really awkward to have your supervisor have to call you “Dr.,” ya know?

Mr. Spin will be graduating from PA school in June 2010, taking his boards in July and we’re getting married in August. Next summer is going to be awesome and crazy! ^_^ I can’t wait!

first, Congrats! the mile stone for us is not near our wedding, but he timed the proposal around it. I defended my Ph.D. in March; We got engaged in May; and I just attended my convocation this week. :)

June’s crazy with THREE birthdays (mine, my FI’s, and my dad’s); my convocation; both our parents’ anniversary; and my brother’s getting married! CRAZY!

Yellowrose - I never knew that if the lady is a Dr. then she gets to come first on formal invite…is this true? I’ve always seen and heard Mr. & Dr…
