I keep lists for fun, am constantly daydreaming of my next international travel adventure (four continents down, three to go), debating sports (let’s Got Mets/Giants!) and dancing around my apartment to stay sane. About Mrs. Swan

UP

June 9th, 2009 @ 12:34 pm by Mrs. Swan

Well, I recently got my hair done, and I decided that I won’t cheat on my stylist, after all. She brought up my wedding before I even did at my last appointment. I’ve already told her that I will be stalking her the month of July so we can try to figure something out. At this point, I am going to just relax. She did tell me that I’d better be looking at pictures of styles that I like. Yes, ma’am!

I think I have definitely been moving towards wearing my hair up. Here are a few styles that have been striking my fancy:

I’m sure you remember my favorite old standby. This one really is one of my favorites for its simplicity:

I can also just simplify the updo a bit, too! (Although this is probably more complicated than it appears.)

(source)

I like this one below because there’s a kind of bang going on. I have a big ol’ forehead, and I think I look best with something framing my face.

I usually don’t like my hair completely up and back because sometimes it can look a bit severe for me. I think this one is pretty nice, though. It seems like like locs were braided together and then pinned up. When she takes her hair down and loosens the braids, it will look crimped like my profile pic to your right.

My stylist has also told me that I don’t have to look solely at loc styles either. She can copy something with straightened hair for me.

Here’s one that’s definitely pretty:

Are you wearing your hair up? If you don’t typically wear it up, why did you decide to put it up for the wedding?

I love that last one! I like the side-swept bangs. I’m still debating between up and down…

I like the first one because it has the curly locs still faming the face. The ones where the hair is braided right back from the face look a bit severe to me. I actually really like the last one, if you’re willing to have a straightened front bit, because that will cover your high forehead if you’re worrying about that.

Have a look at this wedding I shot; I thought the bride’s hair looked really pretty - I’m just talking about the front for you, of course, if you want to keep your dreadlocks for the rest of your head.

Picture 3 is absolutely gorgeous. It looks intricate and complicated, but it’s absolutely beautiful.

i love all of the styles. i think you should go with something of a bang or sideswept–it’s just my personal preference, i love that look!

check out this bride’s hair. it’s awesome, you might like it! my locks aren’t long enough for the style (for most of these) i’m so envious!

i’m not a big fan of too much scalp showing in some of these ‘dos, and i do love the very first one!

i love the elegance of updos, but i think my face is too round and an updo would make it worse :(

You’ve got lost to choose from. They are really nice. I saw my godmother’s other goddaughter’s wedding pics this weekend and oddly thought about you when I saw that she had locs and an updo. There some curls hanging down in the front as a kind of bang, longer than banged style you have featured. Definitely gorgeous, though!

I am wearing my hair up. Simply put: It’s August, my wedding is outside, and curls always frizz in my hair by the end of the night. Why bother?

Hey Ms. Swan. Another caribbean born (but also raised) natural-haired bride to be (and I also use to many parentheses). My event coordinator actually recommended your blog to me because I have no idea what to do with my hair. I love the styles you’ve posted (I actually had the last one you posted saved to my hard drive before). Great inspiration photos.
