Sizing Snafu

Since we received word that Mr. Bruschetta’s wedding ring came in this past weekend, I’d been hoping to share a picture of the mister’s hardware with the hive; instead, I only have a handful of numbers — and a frustrating conclusion:

  • Approximate weeks spent looking at potential rings with Mr. Bruschetta? Eight.
  • Number of “finalist” ring styles? Three.
  • Cost (in dollars, natch) of the chosen ring — pretax — after Mr. Bruschetta’s skilled bargaining? 500.
  • Days until the mister’s wedding ring (eeeee!) arrived? 12.
  • Size of the imprecisely-measured band? Somewhere between 8-1/2 and 8-3/4.
  • And my mister’s left hand ring finger size? Yeah, that’d be a 9.

So he’s a ringless groom for another two weeks or so. After our salesman acknowledged the jewelry store was at fault, he promised us a brand new ring — rather than simply resizing the original one. Mr. Bruschetta was looking forward to masquerading as a married man for an hour or so over the weekend — just, he said, to get used to what the ring will feel like (so cute!) — so I’m sure when the correctly-sized band comes in, he’ll have a hankering to play faux husband again. Unfortunately, for now, we’re both just frustrated we can’t cross this one off the to-do list yet.

Did you face any challenges in finalizing your wedding ring purchases?

My FH decided MONTHS after the final payment of his that the ring might cause his death. Long story…I convinced him it woudl be OK :)

Haha- I thought only MY MAN would be the only one out there to want to wear his ring before the big day to ‘get used to it’ but apparently not. We made dinner one night and he wore it while we were cooking- and while we ate. THEN he wore it to sleep that night. In the morning, he said he didn’t sleep well because he had a foreign object on his finger that felt weird and he doesn’t know if he can handle it. :-/ I told him if he has to wear it an hour a day, an increase the time in wearing it to get used to it by our wedding day- then that is simply what he will have to consider because I fully expect him to wear it. ;o) Every day after we are married. It’s his finger handcuff (as we have so fondly come to call it).
But yes I can related to the feeling of, one more thing checked off the list! But it’s bummer your man’s ring doesn’t fit! At least the jeweler is willing to work with ya!

this is so funny, I really thought my fiance was the only one too! :) we had the ring in our apartment for a while before stashing it with my mom and he wanted to try it on every day. we did run into a problem with my ring - they put the wrong size diamonds into the micro pave. we weren’t sure at first, but we’re really glad we decided to risk looking stupid and ask them to check, because they were too small and not what we paid for!

Hehe… this happened to us too! Except with my engagement ring… and the sizing bit? that was my fault! I had always told Mr. T that my ring size was a 6. Only it’s not… It’s a 4.5!

When I first got my ring, it was a 6.75…. I’m a 4.25! They had to make me an entirely new ring, free of charge.

and, my mister can’t keep it off his hand :) I eventually took it back after a long weekend of him looking at it and twisting it excessively… I’m glad he likes it!

I can relate to the sizing issues… when we got my ring it was a little bit too tight :-/ I had to take it in so they could shave of a 1/4 size. I had just gotten engaged and when ppl went to look @ my ring they didn’t believe me.

Awww, “masquerading,” how cute of Mr. Bruschetta. :)
My ring size was considered so small that they couldn’t even resize my original ring down–the jeweler had to make me a brand new ring!

yea we’re having ring issues - like convincing the groom that we need to make time to shop for one when there’s two months left…… I have a feeling we might just get some out of the quarter machine at the grocery store at this point.

we were nervous because we ordered them online, but e-weddingbands.com did an AWESOME job and surprise surprise, the Mister actually can’t wait to wear it and has been sneakily trying it on!

My son who is four saw this pic and ran and grabbed his silly pins and the exact ones too! I couldn’t believe he figured that out cause I had no idea what they were at first.
