I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts. Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!

My First Etsy Purchase

June 11th, 2009 @ 11:29 am by Mrs. Bunny

I’ve been a fan of Etsy for quite a while.  It’s a horrible great place to waste an afternoon and is chock full of inspiration for the DIY inclined.

In spite of my secret love affair with Etsy, I’d never made a purchase until last week. I just never found something I liked enough to justify the shipping charges! I’ve been trying to keep my online purchases to things that I can’t find around town in order to save money.

Bakers twine, it turned out, was one of those things that is too hard to find in Columbus. Back when I was planning a red, cream and blue-ish palette for our fourth of July weekend wedding, I loved the look of this:

After I switched out the red for pink, I began hunting for pink and white twine instead. Ah Etsy, so useful for such a search. Enter Leesiebella aka Analise of Sugar*Sugar. A quick convo was all it took to set up a purchase of 15 yards.

I took inspiration from Mrs. Cherry Pie and the jars she crafted for her bridesmaids’ bouquets.

Why not give my ’maids a place to store their flowers while they enjoy the wedding festivities? Cherry Pie ala Bunny…

I found the jars at an antique store right around the corner from our venue. The tags are made from recycled paper grocery bags. I purchased the metal letters from Jo-Ann Fabrics a few years ago to use for a Thanksgiving table.

Fortunately, all my bridesmaids have different first initials.

Thanks, Analise, for making my first Etsy experience a fab one! The twine was just what these jars needed.

What has been your favorite Etsy purchase?

I bought a Paloma ring nest. It was my first but I can’t pick a favorite since I’m an Etsy-holic now :)

I’ve made several purchases recently, but my ceremony veil is the only one I’ve received so far!

etsy has actually been one of the only resources that ships to chile! and fast!
I got a beautiful necklace in about 2 weeks (as opposed to 2 months with normal shipping to chile!)

So far I’ve only bought a return address stamp. But there are many many things I drool over!

I love that! My only purchase (so far) has been my ring bearer bowl from Paloma’s Nest. Funny, I just blogged about my Etsy obsession this morning. :)

I love this idea! I was going to ask the florist to bring vases to set out that we could display the bouquets in during the reception, and I love the idea of having the personalized tags, too.

I adore Etsy. I have to stay away. I recently discovered baked goods on Etsy - mmmm red velvet cupcakes (literally, cups of cake)!

What is it about this stuff that makes me giddy?! I love it!

Once you start buying, you can’t stop. Trust. :)

p.s. If you need more, I wonder if you could get it at North Market? Just a thought!

My favorite Etsy purchase?
Vintage shoes for your wedding, Sis. They’re high heels, so I’m a little worried I’ll sink in the grass as I walk down the aisle…but fortunately, nobody will be paying attention. They’ll all be craning their necks, looking behind me, trying to catch a glimpse of you!

I love Etsy! Its nothing but eye candy. I wear my chunky white rose ring that I purchased there all the time. Also—just because I’m crazy—you can actually chop off that extra loop on the metal M with a plain old pair of scissors. They are by Making Memories if anyone is looking for them :) Your jars are very cute!!

I’ve bought at least a dozen wedding things and supplies off of Etsy.

I love the idea of labelling the “vases.” I sense another DIY project coming on…
