Something New (And Blue!)

June 11th, 2009 @ 5:14 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

I love receiving mail — especially when it’s something this exciting: My new Panasonic camera (a birthday gift from Mama and Daddy Bruschetta) has arrived!

(source)

Purchasing a reliable point-and-shoot before the wedding was already on my to-do list, and knowing this, Mr. Bruschetta secretly passed along the brand and model specifics to my parents before my birthday a few weeks ago. (In fact, he confessed to logging into Weddingbee and sending a PM to Mrs. Cupcake, who’s raved about her Panasonic, in order to ensure he had the correct information.)

I can’t wait to have the time — this weekend, I hope — to sit down, read the manual (yup, I read ’em all from front to back, unlike the rest of the Bruschetta clan) and practice snapping away with my new, blue toy! I’m most excited to test out its macro abilities (on our wedding rings, invitations, and other details we don’t *exactly* have yet) and, of course, to document our Italian honeymoon.

Will/did you purchase a new camera before your wedding?

Love it! No, no camera has been bought. Boo. Wedding in 1.5 months. Maybe time to invest?

Very cute. I have the same camera, and I love it. I know you’ll be happy with it!

I just got an early wedding present from my FIL’s… a Canon Rebel SLR. I’ve been playing with it constantly. I read the manual too. I’ll keep my Panasonic around for parties and places I don’t feel comfortable lugging a big SLR around.

My MIL has that camera and I’ve used it a bunch of times when I’ve visited her in Montana. I ADORE it and I will buy it as soon as I have a job!

I have that model too. It’s decent for a non-pro point & shoot. (Is there such things as a pro point & shoot?) Unfortunately, someone offered to take a picture of the family while out for dinner and when he was going to hand back the camera to me, we miscalculated and he dropped it, on the ground, with the lens all the way out, on the front of the lens. Now the protection window does not close (to protect the lens) and there is a big dent on the lens. I sent it to Panasonic for repair and they were going to charge me the same price as a brand new camera. Right. Now I keep the camera is its own case and never let anyone hold it.

On the bright side, it’s a nice camera. Enjoy it!

I bought this camera too at the recommendation of Mrs. Cupcake and I L.O.V.E. it!!! You will have so much fun with it and I remember you saying how awful your old camera was! I only wish I had this camera for our honeymoon, too!

Ooh that looks nice! I’ll have to check it out. I am hoping that a ridiculous amount of hinting will end me up with a new DSLR before wedding time rolls around :) We are going to Europe as well and I can’t wait to have a great camera to take a million pictures of it all!

I also have a panasonic digital camera that’s now 5 years old, and I still love it! It’s in my handbag even now, as always.
I know you’ll have many happy years with yours. Panasonics are the best.

I have this camera as well. It takes great pictures.

One other thing I like about it is that it takes HD quality movies and can zoom during movies. I often use for taking quick movies of fun moments. It’s great to be able to have both picture and video memories!

I got my new camera for Christmas (from my mister, before we were engaged) but with all of our upcoming engagement and wedding planning events, etc. coming up, I’m revisiting the owner’s manual to re-learn all of the cool features. For example, you can put it on a setting that will look specifically for a smile and focus on that point, incredibly useful and neat!
