Mrs. Mouse, Austin Age and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/Attorney Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil Engineer Engagement Date: December 19, 2007 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: Barr Mansion About Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
About Mrs. Mouse

Lately I’ve been trolling Etsy like crazy for everything from wedding day jewelry to rehearsal dinner outfits. Buying stuff off of Etsy makes me feel good for many reasons: 1) it’s unique, 2) it helps to support independent artists and crafters, 3) it’s cheap, and 4) a lot of the stuff you can buy is made out of recycled or repurposed (upcycled) items.

During the invitation extravaganza that was taking place in my head last week, I became obsessed with looking at paper goods on Etsy. Here is just a sampling of the wonders I found.

Has anyone thought about using a handmade vintage journal like this as a guestbook? I think it would be pretty.

There are tons of sellers on Etsy who will custom make everything from your invitations to your save the dates and thank you cards. Here is a simple modern style that I liked–they’re even made from recycled paper!

There are all sorts of gifts tags made from recycled materials. These vintage botanical ones were some of my faves, but there were also some made from the pages of an old novel! Think about using tags like this for wedding favors or bridesmaid gifts.

Are you using any recycled or upcycled items for your wedding?

oh, LOTS! on example was that we used vintage maps from crates of old 1960s/1970s NatGeos we found in his grandpa’s closet, using them as table runners, and also to wrap old shoe boxes to use as our bathroom basket for guests.

thank you for planning an earth-friendly wedding. sometimes weddings just reek of excess that it’s sad!
