Which Bud’s For Me?

June 15th, 2009 @ 4:24 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

The lovely and talented Mrs. Sea Breeze will be creating a dreamy netted piece that’ll be my second wedding veil, to be worn throughout our reception. But she’s given me her blessing to seek a floral accent elsewhere, if I choose.

So, naturally, I wandered over to Etsy to peruse my options. Which was, of course, the best and worst thing I could have done. I’ve since fallen in love with so many fascinators, and would love some opinions from the bee-nut gallery.

(requisite cute kitty picture to take up space before…)

…the warning for Mr. Bruschetta to not click any further!

I was first drawn to fluffy floral designs, and swooned over the creations in the Butterfly Enchantress Designs shop. Since the point of interest on my gown is fabric itself — rather than crystals, lace or embroidery — I started thinking a flower with a simpler center (add a few pearls in place of some of the rhinestones on this blossom, please!) would complement it best.

After a visit to the Weddingbee PRO Folio, I was smitten with two in-demand designers — Myra Kim of twigs & honey and Chelsea Petaja of Oh My Deer. I mean, seriously. How gorgeous are these accessories?

A tough decision was already getting tougher! But then, I mentioned my fascinator plan to Mama Bruschetta, who immediately asked if I wanted a floral accent — or if I’d rather opt for feathers. Nooooo! Not another option! I clicked back to Etsy, and this whimsical feather “flower”by Powder Blue Bijoux caught my eye.

So now, basically, I’m all confused. Do I want a fascinator that resembles a flower, or something more abstract? My dress has its own flower-like embellishment…

6

…and the over-priced birdcage veil from the bridal salon (which is the inspiration for the design Mrs. Sea Breeze is creating) was paired with a soft flower…

7

…but which do you think I should select? I’m fascinated (::wink wink::) to hear your thoughts. (Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

I love the first one. It would be so simple and classy, especially with pearls in it. I’m not so much of a feather gal, but if you’re going for a more whimsical look I’d choose the 4th one.

p.s. - I’ll admit to skimming over the text in the post and just looking at the pretty pics, but now that I look back I see that you already used the word whimsical! And here I thought I had come up with it myself :)

Honestly, I’m in love with the one on your head. I love the oversized birdcage veil with that poof. Maybe with the one directly off the headband that looks like it has tulle on it?

I love that floofy headband — i think you should go with that and not compete with the flower already on your dress :)

I think I like the feather one - I think the little “feelers” (for lack of a better word) will add some more height and fun to the poofy birdcage veil. And I think it’s distinctly different but not clashy from the detail on your dress.

I love the third picture down - the flower with the tulle. Feels very “fluffy” and whimsical and unique.

Good luck making the final decision :)

Oh boy, I see we are all split here but I like the whimsical feather “flower”by Powder Blue Bijoux that caught your eye ;)
Anyways, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them, but there are my two cents for my girl :)

I love the 2 that have the three pearls in the middle. They’re both so pretty.
