About Beehive

Okay, so laughter is the best medicine and humor is the best antidote for anger, right? To that end, I’m going to start my own little list of the best passive aggressive wedding related comments I’ve heard - mine and other people’s - and remind myself that in the end they are so ridiculous you have to laugh!

Here are three comments from readers that caught our attention!

  • “from my grandmother after I’d spent over an hour getting my hair done for a cousin’s wedding: “Well, they made your hair pretty, but they didn’t make you pretty.” Before my brother’s wedding she said ‘You may never be beautiful, but you’ve got a nice face.’ (hello, backhanded compliment…)  And then she complains that people get offended too easily! I’ve taught myself to find it endearing instead of agonizing, but if she does it on my wedding day I might lose it.” - mvp_bride
  • “The first person I called after getting engaged was my mother. Here is a snippet of how the conversation went: Me: Mom, Jeff proposed during dinner tonight! We got engaged!
Mom: Oh, dinner. Did you drink?
Me: Yeah, I had two cocktails.
    Mom: Were you drunk?
    Me: No….”

  • “My mom (to my sister) regarding my choice of a strapless wedding gown and my very large upper back tattoo: ‘I don’t think Jesus would want to see that. Maybe we can get her a nice cardigan.’” - appleblossom
