About Mrs. Bear Cub

How Insanely Awesome is THIS?

June 16th, 2009 @ 11:11 am by Mrs. Bear Cub

News flash:

You can look at your wedding dress forever after your wedding, even if it’s in the closet!

The incredibly talented Introverted Wife (formerly introverted bride) will paint you (your dress) and your husband (his attire) on canvas –

via her shop on Etsy

I personally think this is adorable - and such a unique way to remember that you & your dude dressed to the nines once upon a time! :) Well, maybe you get to dress up all the time - I like my hiking boots & granola all right :). Plus, you see that little cutie on the left? Plus one means it’s a family! She’ll paint in your pooch or kitty upon request!

Our wedding’s not ’til September - otherwise I’d send her our wedding pics to paint tout de suite!

What do you think? Is this rockin’, or what? Way to go, Etsy!

I don’t get it? Won’t you have photos of yourselves in your attire?

Very talented (!), but not sure how I feel about the headless people…it is a little strange to me :)

Thanks so much for the link love.

I do a lot of wedding dress painting which are generally just the wedding dress and an abstract background (there were just a few that were with a beach background). Here are a few other pictures if you’re curious to see some of my options

It’s just a nice easy decoration that incorporates your dress in a painting. I do my best to incorporate various pictures and angles to provide as much detail of the actual dress as possible for the low price of $15.

Yeah, I have to say, it kinda creeps me out a bit too… Although there are some of her other paintings that look more like a dress hanging up that I like much better! :-)

That’s a cute idea! I know the wedding dress takes up a lot of room! I would love to gaze at my dress every morning I wake up!

I really loved the one she did for Mrs. Avocado of her dress - I will be honest, though, the disembodied spaghetti straps in this photo creep me out a little bit. Is that weird?

I just don’t get the missing heads and arms. The dog is there, why isn’t he invisible?? Must be easier to paint than human faces.

@lreighard1: @Gilneas: I just saw that! I agree, her dress looks great in a painting!

@ruby39: The dog was actually something the bride asked me to add because the dog had recently passed on. So they wanted to include her as a lovely memory.

It was also the first dog I’d ever painted.

VERY cute! another great option is through Dreamlines where they will do a sketch of your gown, kind of like a fashion design sketch.

I’ll be honest, maybe it’s just because I watched Beetlejuice too much, but this kind of freaks me out! :)

I am the proud owner of that dress and that painting. I sent her 4 pictures and she worked very closely with me as to what I wanted.

I requested the beach and my dear doggie, if she could. And I knew ahead of time she did not do the people.

Do I have photos also to look at? Yes, quite nice ones that I am very happy with. But now, I have a beautiful painted canvas to compliment them, of which I am also quite happy with.

I think it’s possible while at one’s computer terminal alone, to become numb to someone else’s feelings. It’s kind of like being able to press a button to shoot a missle as opposed to seeing someone in the eye when you shoot them with a gun.

I feel that I have become “close” with the artist, and some of these comments hurt me as they just may have her. What is it they say, “if you don’t have something nice to say…?”

Wow, what a controversial post! This may be first time I’ve seen real opinions come out, unlike the usual “it’s so perfect,” “you look beautiful,” “how cute,” comments I usually read. To each his own, art is a very individual thing and the owner of this canvas is obviously satisfied. As an artist, we have to be ready to accept criticism of our work, but it’s the client that matters most.

@kelley@myislandwedding: @blablover5: I’m really sorry on behalf of those who have been rude anonymously. I really think, blablover5, that your art is fantastic! And Kelley, I chose this painting off her etsy site to show, because I love my dog (and would include it in a painting), and I thought it was nice how she painted both the bride’s wedding dress and the groom’s suit. I think it’s a wonderful painting! I was actually drawn to the abstract-ness (”clothing only” :) ) - I thought it was really unique!

@blablover5: *hugs*

People, let’s remember that this is an artists work and she has feelings, as do all her clients, and try to keep the feedback constructive. Sheesh.

@Miss Bear Cub: Don’t worry about it BC. The rule of the internet seems to be the more anonymous the option the ruder the comment. It just brings out the nastiest people it seems.

I didn’t really feel too bad for myself (maybe it’s all the benadryl I’m on, damn bug bites) but for all those whose weddings and ideas the commenters crapped on. I don’t just create the paintings in a vacuum, they’re formed from feedback and wishes from the people who then get them.

Wouldn’t it be a little nicer if there really was no anonymity on the internet and we were held accountable?

Oh and Mrs. Meatball, your wedding slideshow and video were fricken awesome. You and your hubby are way too talented.

Yes, I’m still around, like a big fat lurker with all kinds of posts floating around in my head that I never take the time to write down. I should have posted about this though and shown off my own example! Maybe once I hang it up I will.

Oh wow, Avo’s is such a great match! There’s something so timeless in this artwork — I imagine it will be a treasured keepsake to be passed from daughter to granddaughter and on…

And Miss Bear Cub, your amazing gown silhouette will look amazing as well! :-)

When the Introverted Wife first showed off her painting of her own dress (which has straps) on her blog, I was so impressed and really thought it was so cool, beautiful and unusual!! So many people take pictures of their dress hanging up, because it’s so pretty - and I saw this as kind of the same thing.
Just to give a little background, when she did this painting, it was for fun and for herself. It was only after getting several requests (me included) that she started up her Etsy store.
I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion about art - that’s what makes it so interesting. I really have loved my painting and think it’s beautiful and unusual!

I love blab’s paintings of invisible people in their wedding clothes. In fact, I’m a big fan of her art in general; she does great nature scenes that are reminiscent of both van Gogh and Gauguin. In more fact, I am the proud owner of one (so far) blab original:

Great stuff. 8-)

OK, you guys are being too sensitive. No one said anything mean, they just said it wasn’t their taste.

BTW - the dog is my favorite part!
