About Mrs. Penguin

Your ONE Picture

June 16th, 2009 @ 12:16 pm by Mrs. Penguin

My wedding date twin, Mrs. Toucan, and her one year anniversary post got me thinking about picking our own favorite picture from our wedding day, one year later. Mr. Peng and I both have a hands-down favorite. It’s the only one we have displayed in our house, and the one we sent out as our thank you cards. I feel a bit like a love poser though, as the picture doesn’t exactly evoke warm and fuzzy memories for either of us. It was T-minus 1 hour to the ceremony, and Mr. Peng was still battling a hangover from the night before (THE NERVE!), and he was afraid I’d be upset if he told me he was hung over. So he kept it from me as long as possible, but I could tell at that moment his face was turning green. And in a fit of panic at that moment, I feared his queasiness had to do with our impending vows. He was gonna be in it FOR-EV-ER.

I remember blurting out at that moment: “Oh my god. Do you not want to get married?”

I was dead serious. For a split second, I thought the whole thing was gonna fall apart.

And that was when he was forced to tell me that he had thrown back one too many with his buddies back at the hotel the night before.

I breathed a sigh of relief, as I was pretty happy that he was able to partake in the liquor that he had bought for his groomsmen as their gifts, and that he wasn’t about to barf from the thought of marrying repulsive ol’ me. I mean, I showered for the occasion… momentous in its own right! We were getting married no matter what!

The picture turned out nicely, despite the ball of nerves I was, and the fact that Mr. Peng was possibly on the verge of a pre-wedding puke. I suppose it’s a good thing you can’t see our faces. But we love it, and it represents not only our wedding day, but an accurate representation of our feelings every day since our wedding day: Me, feeling anxious about how much he loves me, and Mr. Peng, just trying to get through every day without vomiting.

Describe your favorite picture from your wedding day, or better yet, upload it to the gallery, and post the link in the comments! What were you feeling when that picture was snapped?

Oh, I can’t wait until Mr. Bruschetta and I can pick our favorites out of our wedding pictures. And Pengy, your reaction to your soon-to-be-hubby’s nausea is hilarious — and totally something I’d say.

awww. I’d be fuming if my FI was hungover, although i’m sure it makes for a good story now. I’d be relieved knowing it was that and not the cold feet though! That picture really is gorgeous. I just love every aspect of it.

Oh so beautiful! Your dress was amazing and that veil is just lovely. I’ve never seen a shot like this. In the dark but lit enough you can make out everything in the shot. The barrels are a nice backdrop.

Despite the fact that you thought Mr. Peng was going to throw up on you any moment, it’s an absolutely drop dead gorgeous magazine-shoot-looking photo.

Love the picture, but love the meaning behind it even more!

Are those wine barrels behind you? Pretty appropriate :)

This is such an amazingly beautiful picture! Everything about it is perfect. I can see why it is both of your favorites. :)

p.s.- You have such a funny sense of humor. I definitely lol’d about your last sentence about Mr. Peng–Poor guy!

Oh, that must have been so nerve-wracking at the time, but it’s so funny now. =)

Happy anniversary! The picture is beautiful.

Isn’t it funny how some of the most beautiful wedding photos have the silliest stories behind them? I love this photo, but I suspect my family will want a more “looking at the camera smiling” shot from us for our thank you cards!

This is sooo going to be me and my hubs. Love your sense of humour too re: evoking the same feeling everyday since the wedding.

Love the photo- no wonder it’s a fave!

That photo is gorgeous! For your anniversary, maybe you should organize a boat ride on a particularly choppy body of water to help “recreate” the special moment for your special guy! ;)

Hahaha… too funny your story and what a beautiful picture to remember that moment. I hope he did vomit before the wedding… cuz it does help especially when you are hung-over

No other wedding website will tell you the story behind the picture quite like Mrs Pengy!

I love this! It’s definitely a story to remember - especially with the “representation of your feelings” at the time (nervous versus barfy)!

Incredible picture!! And what a story to go with it! All I can say is I’m sooo glad my fiance and I don’t drink and aren’t party people. There will be NO hangovers on our wedding day!

Here’s my favorite. I remember feeling self-conscious, as I always do in front of a camera, but now I’m so happy to have it. It’s a little too lovey-dovey to be *the* wedding picture displayed in our house, but it’s still my favorite.

I love that story! LMBO! That’s like FI and I who always have a backstory to our photos. In one of our e-pics it looks like my hand is down his pants, but it’s just the angle! So…I photoshopped fingers in there to fix it. And now it’s just a boring ol’ e-pic photo…with a story. :-)
