Gifting Our Guests

June 17th, 2009 @ 3:19 pm by Mrs. Quiche

Having a kick-ass Out of Town Bag for our guests was high priority on our list. I mean, our awesome friends and family were traveling all the way to Jamaica to celebrate us, so the least we could do was try to thank them with a few goodies! :)

Gifting Our Guests : wedding accommodations favors 13 1

Letter and agenda for our guests, rum, waterproof camera, coffee, DIY CD, sunscreen and mosquito wipes!

One of our first tasks upon arriving in Jamaica was buying two local items: a bottle of Appleton Estate Rum & Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. We had our driver take us to a slightly shady grocery store/bar/I don’t know what, where we ended up bargaining down the price of the rum about 30%! Score!

Our wedding monogram, decked out in the colors of the Jamaican flag, served as our CD art. Ya Mon!

We transported these down to Jamaica, along with Underwater Cameras, $1 sunscreen from Target, mosquito wipes (that reeked!), and these awesome bags. I found them through Mrs. Lemon & they are a great quality bag for cheap, cheap, cheap!

We loved the Jamaican vibe of our OOT bags. Did you have OOT bags? Were they themed?

Wow, I love these! I’m a huge fan of small things, and that mini rum bottle’s the cutest!

I love your OOT bags! We will definitely be having bags as well, since 90% of our guests will be from out of town for our pseudo-destination wedding in Maine (most will be coming in from the Boston area). We plan on having Maine-themed bags, and I am completely *in love* with the idea of using mini LL Bean tote bags for the bags themselves. Unfortunately, the bags run something like $18 a piece :-(

Fun! those came together perfectly. I love the idea of giving rum or any adult beverage. I know we always have after parties back at the hotel, as do others I am sure, so I am sure the local rum was nice to have.

I’m still trying to figure out if we need OOT bags. A lot of our guests are OOT, but most are local or within a county or two. I do love yours!

@Miss Bruschetta: It’s actually 1/2 the size of a typical full bottle - not mini :)

Cool! I’d be so excited to get something like this. I don’t think we’re going to do OOT bags, but it would be fun to think of some Austin-y things to include. I’d love to include passes to Barton Springs (a really cool natural swimming pool), cheap sunglasses, a rec list for restaurants (there are so many!), and a CD of some of our favorite music.

Very cute OOT bags! May I ask where you found the waterproof cameras? I’ve been scoping around in the internet looking for a good deal.

skibobrown: check LL bean outlet stores. They often have misprinted totebags for cheap, and all you need is a seam ripper to get them as good as new (google for directions). If you don’t have that many out of town guests (or have a lot of time on your hands / dedication), it can be worth your while.

we’re having OOT baskets because we’re renting condo units for the overseas guests. it’s local-themed (they’re coming to my homeground) so it’s gonna be filled with fabulous treats from here!
