I Need a Necklace

June 17th, 2009 @ 2:28 pm by Mrs. Joey

Hi hive! I need your help! I need a necklace. I don’t have any ideas, except that I want it to kind of match my grandmother’s earrings. I did have a plan at one time. I was going to take the matching ring and have the stone part turned into a pendant. Then I was going to have the band part formed into a complete circle and use it as a pendant for a necklace for my sister. That way, we would both get a piece of the heirloom. But the ring is M.I.A. No one knows where it is.

So, I have to come up with something else, and I’m stuck. I have a gold chain I can wear if I find a pendant, but I just need the pendant part, or a new necklace all together.

Above are the earrings I’m wearing, featuring black diamonds.

What kind of pendant do you think would look good with these earrings and my dress? Any suggestions or links would be appreciated!

Those earrings are very unique (the history behind them is totally amazing), so it’s kind of tough to think of what may go with them! I have no suggestions, but, good luck finding something!

In all honesty….if you wore your hair up, those earrings would be the attention-grabbers. I think if you added a necklace, it might be too much for the ensemble. Your neckline has a lot going on around it, too. (cap sleeves, side ruffle detail, etc).

I say let the earrings take center stage. =)

I like Pinot Grigio’s idea! I just can’t quite think of anything that goes well, but I think doing a bear-necked look with those earrings would look great! Also, you mentioned a circle necklace for your sister that was to be made out of the other half of the ring, but since the ring’s gone you can’t do that- but what about giving her a karma necklace? I think they are really cute (got one as a gift) and I love the meaning behind it!

@Miss Burgundy: I’m wearing the Karma necklace right now. :) It’s where I came up with the idea for my sister’s.

How much time do you have? You might want to include a picture of those earrings in an Alchemy ad on etsy.com - the jewelry makers there are incredibly creative and they might come up with just the right thing!

I agree with Miss Pinot Grigio that you won’t want a lot going on with the neckline and those gorgeous earrings - maybe just one floating stone on a gold chain?

Good luck!!

I agree with the above posts, wear the earrings as the focal and forgo a necklace. You don’t want it to compete with your beautiful earrings.

I think with that neckline (the dress is so pretty, btw), you can get away without a necklace, or with just a gold chain. I love the earrings!

Dasha Boutique, a favorite among Bees, has some jewelry with black gemstones.

Though I agree with other posters that you might not even need a necklace! With your detailed neckline, your grandmother’s earrings might look best standing out on their own!

The neckline is beautiful. if you really want a necklace, check out etsy. they have great stuff and you might find something to complement the earrings

If you are wearing earrings, you probably don’t need a necklace unless you really want one? Good luck choosing :)

You don’t need a necklace, let the earrings be the “star”

If you want to wear a necklace, my vote would be to wear the gold chain by itself (I assume that if it’s a pendant chain that it’s probably fairly fine). You’re wearing those dazzling earrings PLUS a fab hair accessory, which I think is enough.

I was just about to suggest Etsy as well. I live in a very small city and we seem to have a surplus of bead stores.
Could you take it to a bead store and try to have something made to match?

I agree with Miss PG, if you wear your hair up, those will make a great statement alone!

I went back and looked at where your neckline hits you, and I really think a necklace would be overkill. Those earrings are amazing. The details on your dress are amazing. A necklace would only compete. A bracelet, on the other hand, would work really well, I think.

It’s hard for me to tell how big those earrings are, but they look like they’re small enough to have a simple necklace with them. I also totally suggest Etsy alchemy. I think you’d be amazed at how many responses you get!

I agree that you should let the earrings take center stage :)

You could always do an Etsy Alchemy - put in a request with a description & what you want to spend and let vendors do their magic to whip something up!

i agree with all the ladies that said you do not need a necklace, yet if you insist, do something super thin that will add a little sparkle that is a looser than a choker, yet wont take away from the neck line. Good Luck!!
