Inspiration 2.0

June 19th, 2009 @ 11:27 am by Mrs. Mouse

I won’t show you guys my original inspiration board, as it literally has nothing to do with our wedding now! My original colors were pomegranate and gold—not exactly what comes to mind when you hear the phrase “English garden”.

As the wedding planning progressed and I started to develop more of a cohesive “feel” for the wedding, I decided to add two colors to the palette: the palest of pinks and cream. For now, the pomegranate is tentatively staying as an accent color, mostly in the bridesmaids’ dresses; there are a few gold accents thrown in there as well. However, being the perfectionist that I am, I’m quite happy to edit my little heart out until I have every detail exactly right. We’ll have to see whether pomegranate makes the final cut!

I came across this beautiful inspiration board in the archives of Snippet and Ink, and it made me completely rethink our color scheme! Maybe I should edge out the pomegranate/berry color for good in favor of pale pink, cream, and vintage gold! My bridesmaids have already bought their adorable berry-colored dresses (which were also worn by Mrs. Cherry Pie’s beautiful bridesmaids), but maybe we can figure something out that goes better with the new color scheme.

Ah, the dainty teacups, the poufy, fifties-style dress, the sweet ballerina-esque headband. I’m in love!

So with that in mind, here is my second attempt at an inspiration board. The first one was mostly just me playing around with Picasa (as I was still trying to figure it out). I basically just did a Google image search for burgundy and gold weddings and then crammed all the pictures together. But this time, I tried to pick things I found beautiful and inspiring. Some of the pinks are a little too pink, but overall I’m salivating over the flowers in this board. I like the touches of cream thrown in there, too. I think they keep the pink from seeming too sugary. As you can see, the pomegranate is starting to take a backseat to the pale pink, cream, and gold.

The tea length dress in the left center is absolutely stunning! I’m also loving the little puffball cake.

Do you guys think the pomegranate matches the rest of the colors? Should I nix it? How many times did you change your color palette before you found the perfect combo?

I changed colors a million times! I always intended for there to be some green, but originally it was olive paired with eggplant… I’ve become a lot more flexible with it.

By the way, I love the pomegranate accents with the colors you chose. :) And I swear it’s not just because my favorite part of the fall is pomegranates at the farmers’ market! If nothing else, it will be a much more flattering color on your bridesmaids than a pale pink would.

I LOVE that tea length dress as well! Delicious.

Also, that new color scheme has my heart going pitter-patter. I love it!

I wish I had a sitting/dressing room. I would totally decorate it Mouse inspiration board. Sigh.

;)

Okay, maybe I’ll just find a cliet that has a dressing room & project my wishes on to her?!

I’d leave the pomegranate in. It’s lovely and a bit richer.

Ugggh, color decisions are the hardest! I’m still changing my mind with every beautiful inspiration board I see! I love the pale pink, champagne & gold!

I did raspberry with light pinks and ivory at our wedding and it was an awesome and rich pop of colour. Naturally, I suggest keeping it! Plus, I’d avoid re-making big decisions that affect others too significantly (ie your BMs who would have to go through second round of dress hunting!)

I think it would totally work! Just think of it as using the whole range, from the darkest richest pinks (the pomegranate) and going through to the paler pinks, all the way to cream/ivory. Adding the gold will keep the lighter colors from washing everything out. I love this!

We are basically doing this, but adding in a ton of grey b/c it’s my fav color and the one thing I haven’t wavered on, since I really wanted grey BM dresses. Good luck to you!!
