Mrs. French Bulldog's Picture
Mrs. French Bulldog, Orange County Age and Occupation: 28, Administrative Assistant & Interior Design Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Purchasing Analyst Engagement Date: November 8, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: Bernardo Winery About Me: I've lived in Atlanta, Dallas and Laguna Niguel; although I've lived in Orange County, CA most my life, I'm a Southerner at heart. I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
About Mrs. French Bulldog

Napkin, Napkin, Napkin

June 19th, 2009 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. French Bulldog

Based on the title, you’re probably thinking this post is going to be about our linens, but it’s about calligraphy. As you learned in my fruity shower post, BM F and I met in college. She would sit and practice her handwriting when she needed something to do with her hands. I can’t tell you how many times we’d be sitting in the cafeteria and I’d look down to see “Napkin” scrolled across her napkin (natch) a bazillion times in the most beautiful handwriting you’ve ever seen.

My handwriting isn’t bad; it worked great for our Engagement Party invites and STDIs, but it is more casual. So, naturally, I asked BM F if she would do the calligraphy for our wedding invitations.

Here are the samples she gave me today…

Option A:

Option B:

Option C:

Option D:

Option E:

Option F:

Options A & C are a little too fancy for my taste. Personally, I like the whimsy of the others more, and they will go better with our invitations.

Sneak peek of our proof

So hive, what do you think?

I love B, E and F, but F was my favorite. It’s totally legible (although really, they all are), and clean, and *just* the right amount of cutesy. ;)

I did A because that is the way my calligraphy handwriting comes out no matter what I do ;) For a second I thought you had lifted my writing for that one!

I do like B a lot… If only I could do it!

I picked B ~ but I like E and D as well. This reminded me about how I also kept my hands busy in college by doodling fancy words … hmm, maybe I should practice again and try to do my own calligraphy! :P

I liked option A the best, but seeing as you wanted something less formal, I went with option E. It’s just the right amount of whimsy.

I liked “E” the best, but I thought “B” best matches the calligraphy text in the proof. So I voted B.

I picked E, but I really like the capital M in option B.

What does “natch” mean?

Thanks for all your feedback ladies! I’m happy “E” is winning, I’m was secretly pulling for it ;-)
@Grey56: Natch is short for naturally :)

That was an amazingly tough choice… I voted for Option D, but I mentally eeny-meeny-miney-moe’d between 3 of them. They’re all gorg!
