In my last post, I discussed making a grand exit. Some of you took a guess at what we chose to be showered with as we made our getaway, and for those of you that guessed lavender… you were right! So why did I post a picture of birdseed? Because I am totally head over heels for this wedding-toss packaging!
Ellie at Mint Design Blog created these little birdseed bags for her wedding (she also designed tags for a rice throw). And aren’t they adorable? I love the witty explanation on the tag and the colorful stitched closure at the top of the bag. I was SO ready to take on this project.
After exploring Photoshop a bit while designing our cocktail hour Trivia cards, I was eager to design little lavender tags for our grand exit. I even had my aunt ready to stitch the tops of the bags! But when I got sick three weeks before the wedding, this project fell by the wayside. In the end, we still had lavender in little glassine bags, but no cute tags or stitching. Our little bags were really simple to put together. Here’s what we used:
Lavender Wedding Rice from Beau-Coup

Marth Stewart Crafts Stickers from Michaels
We filled the bags with a few tablespoons of lavender buds, folded the tops of the bags down a few times, and secured them with a pretty sticker. The bags were placed in a basket and passed around just before we left. And you know what? They looked really nice! Even without the custom tags and stitching.
Have you had to tone down any of your DIY dreams due to pre-wedding setbacks?
