Hooray Shoes!

June 22nd, 2009 @ 10:54 am by Mrs. Mouse

I just wanted to take a moment of my time to share this cuteness with everyone.

These shoes are handmade by a crazy-talented crafter based out of Chicago, whose company goes by the name of Mohop. Check out their website. Mohop uses reclaimed wood to make the shoes, so they’re easy on the environment.

They come in both heels and wedges, each in three different heights (the wedges are pictured above). You can also get them in three different colors of wood. Each pair comes with a set of five ribbons and instructions on all the different ways to tie them.

I have also been assured (by someone who owns two pairs) that they are comfortable enough to wear all day—even the high heels! The best part is that Mohop recently cut their prices in half! They’ve even got an Etsy shop, where you can find some of their earlier models at discounts.

I just bought a pair that I plan on wearing to several wedding-related events, such as showers, a bachelorette luncheon, and brunch with my mom and FMIL. I”ll just tie ’em up with a different pair of ribbons, and voila! Endless possibilities.

What are some great eco-friendly finds you’ve made on the internet?

Wow! I haven’t been on for a while because of wedding stuff and work sucking up all of my time. It is truly fortuitous that I checked into the “Bee” yesterday. I have been having trouble finding shoes that will work for my outdoor wedding reception, are 4″ high and have a stacked toe so that I do not feel like my size 5 1/2 feet are walking on tip toes for 8 hours (ok 2, since they would not last). So why 4″s, because my dress has already been ordered in the shortest custom length they will make it and it is still 4 inches too long. It has this darling double ruffle on the bottom that would be hemmed if it was too long with my wedding shoes on. I refuse to loose one of the best impact of one of the best things about my dress so therefore 4″ heels and no hem. The wedding will have a casual nautical vibe (guys in blazers and tan pants) so a more casual shoe is OK as long as it isn’t too causal for my dress. With the right ribbon these will be fab. I can even customize them to match my wedding colors. I can’t wait! Plus they will be great after the wedding with more casual cloths too! So the cost is much more justifiable!

I ordered some of these a few weeks ago and I’m eagerly anticipating their shipment.

The designer, Annie, is really sweet and helpful, btw - I’ve been emailing back and forth with her about questions I had. (FYI the medium height wedge is 2.5″ at the back and 1.25″ at the ball of the foot, so only a 1.25″ rise - which is perfect for klutzy me)

I flippin’ love them! The etsy shop is practically barren. :( What an amazing, creative idea!
