About Mrs. Labrador

Remember when I wrote about our wedding colors here? Well, I’ve had a slight change of heart.

I’ve been going back and forth (as evidenced here) on whether to include my all-time favorite color—pink—in our wedding. I just assumed that my manly future hubby wouldn’t be okay with having pink as one of our colors. Plus, my favorite shade of pink is fuchsia. Hot pink doesn’t exactly mesh with an outdoor autumn wedding. But still, I kept fantasizing about all things pink (to the point that I haven’t committed to any wedding color-related purchases in fear of my internal doubt) and finally decided to do something about it today.

Armed with inspiration photos of pink weddings, I sat Mr. Lab down and asked him his opinion on including the color in our wedding. I showed him an inspiration board that featured my next favorite shade of pink: “dusty” pink. And this board also included our other wedding colors we’ve already picked out: chocolate brown and champagne!

I was ready for the battle.

But, it never came. He immediately loved it!* We compared the old color palette to this new one and he said he preferred the pink. My FMIL was standing nearby (we’re currently at her house because my bridal shower was this weekend-update soon!) and she also approved. I felt so relieved and 100% sure that this was the color combo I should have picked in the first place.

To celebrate our new color combo, I made a new inspiration board featuring some of the dusty pink from the board above! This particular board is exclusively for our ceremony alone:

I’m officially “ooohing” and “ahhhing” over my change of heart. I’m in love with our color combination! Now I can finally start purchasing the accent color-related items I’ve been putting off because of the fear of changing my mind. Whew! *Weight lifted from shoulders* :D

*I think Mr. Lab agreed so quickly because of the super adorable Labrador in the inspiration photo. Maybe that’s because it looks so much like our Gabby (who was conveniently born bearing our wedding colors: chocolate brown fur with pink nose, lips, & tongue):

I think the brown and champagne are sufficiently neutral and masculine to balance out the pretty pink — looks great!

That is a great change! I disagree that fuchsia doesn’t go with an outdoor autumn wedding (fuchsia, gold, brown… it’d be a really great, bold palette!), but the dusty pink matches much better with the other colors you’ve already selected, and is much softer and more wedding-y. :)

I always support pink at a wedding! It will be a perfect color for your flowers and any other fun accents that you want to pop against the brown and champagne!

I LOVE! the colors are both autumnal and subdued; a great choice!! I thought my guy would balk at pink too but really he was happy with whatever made me happy. So I am using aqua, fuchsia AND petal pink (with white and silver). I was thrilled when he said the colors were “me” and looked nice together. I guess we don’t give them enough credit sometimes, eh?

I have to first admit that I really dislike pink…as a general rule it just isn’t a color I gravitate towards….however I LOVE it with your other selected colors. I think it has a really warm feeling and can’t wait to see what you do with them!!

Your second color pallate is what I’m going for too!
We don’t actually have a “color scheme” but my dress is ivory with a pink satin sash and we’re using potted pink flowers for the centerpieces.
Thank you for posting that inpiration board those pink peonies are so fluffy and feminine!

Great choice to include pink! And even greater that Mr. Lab loved it. I wish my dogs were bright yellow so that I could use them in my battle to include the color! lol

I like your comment about your manly future husband not being into pink as part of your wedding palette. Our colors were navy & yellow until I said one day “I really like the pink flowers more than the yellow flowers that available in September.” He said, “do pink then.” So I ran with it and changed our colors to navy & hot pink. The hot pink will be subtle though, I promise.
