About Mrs. Stiletto

As I recently posted, we’ve gone through some centerpiece adjustments and will have lovely branch centerpieces for 8 of our receptions tables. We’re left with 6 or 7 tables (depending on the number of guests) to outfit with “low” arrangements.

Since my original plan was to have a single stem on each of the 15 tables, I had already been budgeting around $9/table for this, or $135 total. Now that 8 of the tables are otherwise taken care of, that $135 can go toward just 7 tables. That gives me around $19/table to play around with.

I still want to use one of these small Crate & Barrel vases on each of those tables for the low arrangements (I mean, I have them, I may as well use them…):

When I was recently looking around for some green floral inspiration, I happened across these two low arrangements on With This Ring.

This first arrangement is pretty and definitely green(!!) but I don’t know if it’s as vibrant as I’d like.

However, I’m swooning over this second arrangement (and it’s a bathroom arrangement, of all things!). It’s vibrant and fresh, which is what we’ve been trying to achieve overall. These Kermit mums have been growing on me a lot, too… they might be cute to incorporate in other places, as well!

I’d love it if the bridesmaids’ bouquets had this “fresh” feel to them, as well. No, no, I’m not planning on changing any flowers - I still want hydrangeas (which this arrangement has), dahlias and ranunculus in all of the bouquets, but I’m liking how these mums “pop”. Maybe they could be added in?

I’ll be sitting down with our florist in about two weeks - I plan on showing her this inspiration picture and seeing what my $20 per arrangement can buy us! I’m so excited to share with her all of my inspiration so far regarding all of the flowers for the wedding and hear what suggestions she may have.

How many inspiration photos did you take to your florist? Did you detail your arrangements down to the exact flowers you wanted, or were you OK to just give your florist creative license?

I love the second arragnement! I went armed with lots of inspitation pictures. The first floist I met with wasn’t too helpful in picking out flowers in my color scheme. All she wanted to use was roses, daisies, stock and Peruvian lillies. So I did my flower research and went armed with flower choices to my other appointments. In the end my bouquets were made in my style with my flowers and some suggested by my florist. They were beautiful and I am amazed at what people can create and keep it in your budget. Good luck. I am sure you will end up with something beautiful!

We had Mums for the boutonnieres and in the centerpieces. They were great!! And super affordable.

I mentioned what kinds of flowers I liked — and which I don’t like — and together, we figured out the centerpiece ideas. But I still can’t wait to see how she executes them, since I only have a vague idea of how it’ll all look in my head!

haha… I have these as inspiration photos as well! I love the spring green with the whites… very fresh.
Hypericum Berries in the green adds a nice pop of color.

We stapled a swatch from the bridesmaids dresses to a piece of paper that basically said “white, not ivory; silver, not gold,” and left her to her own devices.

Or rather, we tried to.

We got married in an area popular with hard-chargin’ type-A old-money Boston and New York women, the kind who fire their landscapers if the poolside flowers clash with their bikinis, making our florist overly cautious about making any choices on her own. She practically begged to meet with us, and no matter how many times we told her we trusted her, she just wouldn’t buy it. Eventually we sent the MOG to a meeting, and she reported back “I don’t know why you had me meet with the florist. She had everything under control and it all looked great!”

I’ve given our florist our likes, but would love for her to take the reigns with execution. We shall see!

I like the second as well. Those little green mums have grown on me too! I am torn between those and green cymbidiums for the bridesmaid bouquets to accent the lavender roses.
