Mrs. Quiche's Picture
Mrs. Quiche, Chicago/Montego Bay Age and Occupation: 28, Interior Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 42, Telecom Guru Engagement Date: July 2, 2008 Wedding Date: May, 2009 Venue: Coyaba Resort, Montego Bay About Me: I love Chicago and can’t imagine living anywhere else (Well, except Paris. Or anywhere in France, for that matter!). I’m a full-time worker, part-time student, soon-to-be-step-mom, indie music lovin’, architecture and design fanatic, macaroni and cheese addict, vegetarian, Francophile, Ohio State football obsessed, wedding planning girl. Mr. Quiche and I are “Partners-in-Crime” and cannot wait to celebrate our marriage surrounded by our family and closest friends. I plan on DIYing my little heart out (or as much as a suitcase to Jamaica will hold).
About Mrs. Quiche

We do!

Now, I am an extremely cautious person by nature. I don’t tend to do anything that I feel might cause me any type of hurt. For example, when I was little I was in gymnastics. Fairly common activity for a little girl, right? Well, when “forced” to walk across the balance beam, I crumbled. Did I mention that the “balance beam” was essentially a 2×4 laying on the floor (as in, no distance between the beam and the floor). I was the awkward girl with long as* legs doing (very, very bad) eagle spreads and herkies on the trampoline, never a flip. And the list goes on.

So, when Mr. Quiche suggested that we go Zip Lining* a few days before the ceremony, I immediately said, “no.” I was more than happy for everyone else to go, content arranging OOT bags (let’s face it - laying on the beach) by myself. Not only did I not want to perish, but what if I swept by a tree or something and ended up with a big scrape across my arm? Or face?? But, once Mama and Petey Quiche decided they wanted to go as well, I couldn’t very well say no. Right?

Exiting the bus, not looking too thrilled.

Still not convinced - especially when I realized that a hook was all that would be keeping me from plummeting to the ground.

Groomsman DJ B-Fresh steps in to help calm me down!

But Mr. Quiche saved the day by making me feel great & relaxed. How can you not be, when wearing such sexy gear?!

Everyone else, though, was having a blast! Trevor, our trusty guide, had us all rolling with laughter. I *think* he was thisclose to proposing to the superfabulous Bridesmaid Bethany. He was in love. Who could blame him?! :)

A montage of us, zipping away! Notice the happy grin on my face. This was a breeze, zipping through the trees with the azur sea in the background…

Easy, breezy Quichey came to a complete halt when the 3rd platform looked like this.

(Side note: check out Trevor’s fly shoes!)

Yes, you are seeing that correctly. A vertical drop. Literally, a rope going straight down and dangling. WTF? I didn’t sign up for this! I honestly didn’t think I was going to be able to make it down. My breathing increased as I looked for a makeshift heli-pad (that didn’t exist. We’re in the trees, Quiche!). Everyone else made their way down. I had tears. Mama, Petey & Mr. Quiche all waited for me to go down first, and eventually, I did.

Vertical drop? Check! The rest of the zips were back to normal, and so was I!

After hearing about our adventure, the later arrivals wanted to book a trip as well! They all had a blast. :)

*So I realize, to some, Zip Lining isn’t that daring or exciting… but to me, it was! Eep!

So now, I have to ask: Did you do anything “daring” pre-wedding?

So scary! You’re brave to do that right before your wedding. The scariest thing I’m going to be doing pre-wedding takes place in a salon, if you know what I mean.

Quiche, I did something scary and adventurous right before the wedding too! But to tell the truth, I was most scared about getting terrible tan lines right before the big day!

We are going ziplining as a group activity before my destination wedding. I am afraid of heights so this should be interested. I love hearing about your wedding, keep the posts coming. And hope I get bumped to first class too :)

I too am scared of getting hurt before the wedding. Mine is in Vermont in January, so everyone will be going skiing. I think I will go to the spa and wait to ski until after the wedding.

My heart literally stopped at the picture of the 3rd platform. I’m glad you did it in spite of your fear!

Wow! Looks exciting…
Not daring exactly, but we will definitely be doing something active before our wedding. We are planning a men’s hike and a women’s hike on adjacent mountains the day before the wedding.

@Miss Mouse: @Mrs. Peep Toe: agreed! ;)

@Mrs. Taffy: Thanks girlie!!

@mel: Awesome! We had a couple of people who were afraid of heights that went…and they did very well! :) You can do it!

@Carbon Girl: I would NEVER, EVER go skiing remotely close to my wedding. YIKES.

i did a whole adventure course like that, zip lining through trees, climbing cargo nets… but 2 mths before the big day.

no horrendous injuries except a bruised toenail — nothing nail polish can’t fix!

I feel like I’d be a ball of nerves to do this pre-wedding! But after, I’d be game! Straight down? THAT is crazy talk, though. Way to brave it out!

We are planning on going skydiving- me, my fiancee, my father, and my brother the week before the wedding as a ‘family bonding’ trip.
Your trip looks like fun, and bonding… and safer!

SOOOOOO cool! Mr. Lab is scared to DEATH of heights, so we wouldn’t be able to get him near something like that.

On an unrelated note, you’re arms look amazing! Especially in that first picture!

I love zip-lining! In fact, that was how my guy proposed to me- 50 feet up on a tree in the middle of our zip-line tour. It was exhilarating and scary at the same time. I had to say yes to him so we could get off that tree!

hahaha I might be even more cautious than you because there’s no way in he!! that I would EVER do this. I get nervous looking at that picture!! The most daring thing I will ever do with my fi was when we were only dating for a few months, so I went on the Tower of Terror (I hate rides, big surprise) with him and his friends. I hated every minute of it. No way would I do that now. I’d be like, bye honey, have fun!!! Pretty sure even if my parents did it, I wouldn’t. So, kudos to you!!! And no scratches?!

I agree with everyone on your arms….hot quiche! Everyone but me and my parents when whitewater rafting the day before our wedding….I’m kinda sad I missed it but I managed to get a massive scratch on my knee having lunch at a cute cafe that day so I’m thinking I made the right decision! :) We did do the zip line on our honeymoon and it rocked…I’m not sure I could have done the vertical drop part though!
