About Mrs. French Bulldog

When I went for my dress alterations appointment with Mathab I noticed something while I was standing there admiring my dress. My feet HURT! I brought two pairs of shoes with me. One was a light yellow pair of Calvin Klein pumps I’ve worn several times before and the other was my new pair of dancing shoes.

But, My Toesies Neeeeeed Them : wedding shoes Dancins
I’ve danced in these shoes for a couple weeks now. I think I finally “broke them in” this week, but they still hurth while I was just standing there in Mahtab’s studio. I’m going to be doing a lot of “just standing there” during our ceremony and I really don’t want to be worrying about my toesies while I’m saying my vows. So, while I was standing there I daydreamed about a pretty pair of Cole Haan Nike Air shoes I’d seen months ago.

But, My Toesies Neeeeeed Them : wedding shoes Ceciros

They’re pretty huh? But, the price, notsomuch. I could justify them saying that my toesies would be really comfy all day and I could dye them after the wedding and wear them again and again. Although Cole Haan doesn’t offer dyeing, they say the fabric is fully dyeable and they even include two fabric swatches to test on.

The question still remains though: do I really neeeeed $428.00 shoes? My head says no, but my toesies say YES!

What would you do?

If you really like the ones you have now, I’d say stick with them, and add some gel inserts (if you have room), or take a comfy pair of shoes to change into later in the evening, when you wont care so much.

As you can tell from my post today, I was having this same dilemma with expensive shoes. I say that as long as you have the budget for it, go for it! It helps having shoes you know you’ll wear again and again, too!

They are gorgeous, but if you’re gonna spend that much on shoes, you might as well get some loubotons!

I’ll be the first to admit my love affair for Cole Haan……everything. Yes, my wedding shoes are cole haan, I have cole haan shoes on my feet right now. I would not want to worry about my feet hurting on the big day!

I agree about getting inserts. I think planning a wedding makes us think we can and need to spend (”splurge”) on expensive shoes that, in all reality, we probably won’t actually wear again. If you have room in your budget, do you really want it to be on shoes no one will see or do you want to spend that $400 on more photography or favors or a signature drink or more open bar?

I just think - not to call you out in particular - that the wedding complex helps us justify purchases that we’d never be able to justify because it’s a “once in a lifetime” event. Doesn’t make $600 shoes practical though!

Get foot petals or something. I did and they made a world of difference. They make your feet so comfortable, and then as the dancing gets in full swing change into flip flops?

@northwestgirl19: 6 1/2 :)
@Cassie: I totally agree, and that is an excellent point. I’ve had my eye on a pair of Nike Air Cole Haans for over a year now. The only reason I would get these is that I know I will wear them again. But, thank you a really appreciate your honest :)

@Cassie: I agree and disagree. The same could be said for the average cost of a wedding dress. But for some reason, no one seems to argue that cost. I think that the “wedding industry” gets a bad rap. We’re all grown adults who can make an educated, personal decision. I am choosing to spend less on my dress (which WILL be worn only one day) and more on my shoes (which is a pair that will able to be worn countless times). I just think we need to quit blaming the industry and understand that it is up to an individual’s priority and budget.

Can you find out if anybody has successfully dyed these? I’ve heard to many dying horror stories to assume they’ll come out okay. Would you be able to reuse them if they remained white? I’m all for comfortable feet. My dress came in yesterday so I get to start my shoe search. I was told not to buy shoes before we saw how exactly my custom length dress fit.

I would really recommend just modifying the ones that you with some cushioning or gel inserts. There are tons out there nowadays. Also, as a side anecdote–I thought my wedding shoes were totally comfortable and loved them. And then I wore then post-wedding somewhere and realized they’re actually pretty uncomfortable. I have to assume I was so blissfully happy that day that I didn’t notice. I seriously doubt you’ll be thinking about your feet while saying your vows!

@West Coast Bride: I agree that we we do spend a lot of money on certain things that are for “one day only”. Haha, guess I didn’t make that clear! And I’m hoping I didn’t come off as confrontational. Just wanted to provide a little insight because this discussion comes up quite a lot.

Hot Cocoa posted these awhile ago & I wanted them SO BAD! I say go for it :) When else can you justify that expense?? Are they leather or satin? If satin, dye them black post-wedding. You’ll wear them all the time (in case you can’t tell, I justify EVERYTHING!).
