House About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
About Mrs. Bruschetta

(Cuff) Link Love

June 26th, 2009 @ 11:20 am by Mrs. Bruschetta

Sure, we get to don gorgeous white dresses, yards of tulle (or a poof of netting) and super fab shoes. And trust me, I’m definitely excited to pull my look together on our wedding day. But my attire and accessories have a decidedly bridal feel (um, duh), and I’m feeling a bit envious of my mister — and really, all those grooms out there who are able to wear their passions on their sleeve… literally.

As far as man-cessories go, I think cuff links are the coolest. I mean, look at all the cute (uhhh, I mean really, really masculine) options for pulling together a dude’s dapper duds.

I love how so many designs are re-purposed goods; bits of old wine barrels, vinyl records, Scrabble tiles and newspaper crossword puzzles were just a few of the styles that caught my eye.

(top to bottom: source, source, source, source)

Worrying your groom will get tongue-tied and forget his lines? George Washington can help out with that!

Etsy, of course, is another great source — Mrs. Tiramisu and Mrs. Quiche worked with sellers to create custom sets that included mini maps of their wedding and honeymoon locations.

BIL and Mr. Bruschetta share a fantasy baseball team, and compete in a league against (among others) Daddy Bruschetta. So, it figures that I’m more than a little tuned in to cuff links devoted to America’s pastime.

And for our wedding? Mr. Bruschetta will be giving a nod to our adopted city (where I attended grad school) with recycled T token cuff links I gifted to him last Christmas.

Will your groom be sporting special cuff links? If so, what do they say about him — or you as a couple?

Aww, I love how personal those are to you guys!

I have some special cufflinks to show off myself, but I’m trying to figure out how to do it without Mr. Star catching on because they’re a surprise ;)

i got the boy a pair of links that look like the linux penguin.

the night we met, the ONLY reason he came out to meet up with us, is because his computer that was running linux reformatted itself (which is apparently REALLY rare) and he was so frustrated he had to get out of the house.

almost 3 years later, here we are….so i’m really excited about giving them to him! plus, penguins mate for life =)

I got the FI cuff links that I know he is going to LOVE. He is a gun enthusiast and works in law enforcement as well so when I saw 12 Gauge Shotgun Shell cuff links I knew I had to get them for him! I’m sure you think I’m crazy right about now but they are actually really cool looking and the plastic part of the shell is NOT a part of the cuff link. lol Check out the pair I got him here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23377644

I really like the ones you and your guy chose. Those are so cool! The dude’s wearing a suit, and I think cufflinks would look too formal with it. I’m not sure if he knows what cufflinks are!

My fiance found instructions for DIY cufflinks and is making his own with his parents monogram. He’s also making them for his brothers! I think it’s such a nice touch and a very special to way to have his parents with him.

I was just thinking about this yesterday and decided to get FI beautiful cufflinks as a wedding gift. Sure, he will only be able to wear them about twice in his entire life, but I don’t care… they are still special. ;) The ones I’m getting him are the green version of the semi-precious stone I’m named after, so it includes my name and his favorite color, so that I can justify the cost because I can pretend that they are meaningful. ;)

We bought cufflinks from QACreate, an Etsy seller that recycles old typewriter keys. We chose his and my first initials, which spell “AW” (or WA, pronounced WAAAAA, for times of distress!) They were stylish and reasonably priced, and very appropriate because we’re both writers and there’s a loose literary theme to our wedding.

@Hayley. I love the Linux penguin! Nice work.

I know I’ve posted this before, but I went with the cufflinks made from Yankee Stadium seating. And yes, we live in Red Sox territory.

I got my husband cufflinks from cufflinks.com. I had them customized with the Brasilian soccer crest and they turned out amazing!! All I sent was a Jpeg of the image and they engraved it on the cufflinks. The prices are really good and the customer service is awesome. I highly recommend that site if you’re looking for cufflinks… they have a ton of premade ones too.

There were so many cufflink choices I didn’t know where to begin. I love your choice of the L tokens! Very creative!

I decided on Green Bay Packer helmet cufflinks for my guy as a surprise. They are the vintage yellow helmet design. Not only do they give a nod to our Wisconsin wedding, the gold coordinates with my choice of yellow roses and yellow sandals!

FI is a mechanic, and all his men are big into cars, so I got them all a pair of gear shift cuff links!! FI cannot wait to wear them. I got my brother a pair of pool tables cuz he’s a pool player, my dad some guitars cuz he loves to play his guitar and write songs, and FI’s dad a pair of wrenches since he’s also a mechanic. Can’t wait to see their faces when they get to wear these awesome cufflinks, I wish I could get a pair myself!

We did cufflinks as groomsman gifts. The guy who travels a lot got compasses, the computer game fan got space invaders, and the blues singer got 45 adapters. Man, the 45 adapters were hard to find!

I got my fiance card cuff links (etsy of course). Gambit is his favorite x-men (the one that throws cards), and don’t ask me why but he LOVES the number seven. So both of the cuff links are 7 cards in spades! And I got him a black 7 tie tack.

Oooooh….I heart the Irish flag ones. Part of me would love to have the Mr wear an Irish flag on one sleeve and an Italian flag on the other to pay tribute to both of our backgrounds. Thanks Miss B - now you got me all obsessed with picking out cufflinks…lol!

These are so amazing! I’m absolutely in love with the baseball ones! Mr. S. and I have become avid fans of the Royals (we know they suck, but that’s where we’re from!) and it would be great if he could have some personalization on the big day too!

I actually stole mrs tiramisu’s idea and used etsy to find cufflinks made out of vintage maps. One was a map of the beach where I fell in love with Champ, and the other was at the beach where we got engaged.
