It’s Overtaking Our Apartment!

June 26th, 2009 @ 6:17 pm by Mrs. Gloss

Who knew weddings had so much STUFF? Napkins, lanterns, batteries, glasses, gifts, decorations, and the list goes on.

As our date gets nearer and nearer, our apartment is getting overwhelmed with wedding paraphernalia and gifts.

There is no longer any point in ’cleaning up’ the weddingness when people come over - there is NOWHERE for it to go - I have already taken over the guest room (which you can barely walk through right now). There are no pictures of the room because it is that much of a disaster! The back of my car is filled with Cranberry Daiquiri mixers due to a spur of the moment shopping spree at Williams Sonoma this weekend, and we have numerous packages scheduled to arrive this week!! Some of the stuff has already made its trek up to Maine (vases, water bottles, jam jars, syrup bottles, some of the alcohol) and the rest will go up in July. I cannot wait to have it out of here!

I know wedding planning commonly takes over your life as the date nears, but is it taking over your home, too?!

yes, it has taken over our entire guest room. No floor space in there anymore whatsoever! I have no idea where we will put the gifts we receive.

Most definitely! I don’t even have room to workout anymore! Yes, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!

Feel your pain! We have a whole “wedding cabinet,” plus a huge cabinet in the kitchen plus a closet of wedding stuff PLUS a huge box propped up in the corner of our bedroom fill with the branches for our centerpieces. Ahh.

But with 2 cats and a dog, we have to be strategic about where we keep things :)

This post cracks me up because we are going thru the same thing. It started with keeping things in the geuest room. Now it has moved to and totally taken over the office. Plus things on the kitchen table, a half done DIY project in the living room
Yep.I feel your pain! haha

My apartment was the same way. We gave up trying to clean up the guest room and focused on just keeping it organized according to the wedding event for which it was needed (ceremony vs. reception). There were so many boxes being shipped to us I couldn’t keep it straight of what was still left to come.

I am right there with you. You should see our apartment now that we have all the wine!

Ha, yes! I JUST commented on this to Mr. Bruschetta, saying that I guess we’re sacrificing our den — and a corner of our living room — until after the wedding.

The wedding projects are starting to take over my house, too! I don’t know what to do!

Definitely!! My walk-in closet is no more. With my wedding only over 3 months away, I’m finding I’m squirrelling all the little things away in there.

Us too! I finally added a sign to our shelves that says “Wedding Central” in a feeble attempt to make our growing piles of wedding stuff at least “look cute.” Is it working? Notsomuch. I attribute it to good ol’ Michael’s and their automatic 40% off coupons with every purchase. :)

Ugh. Every time someone comes over, I have to apologize for the state of our apartment. I wish we had a spare bedroom to stash stuff in!! Ours is literally in my wardrobe and alllll over my livingroom.

It’s been overtaking my apartment for the past year! It’s insane.

Haha, we had to separate all our “stuff.” We stored some at my place and some at his. Now that it’s over, the aftermath is sitting in a corner (hoorah for condensing!) of our living room. I should just sell it…

Um, yes . . . wedding stuff is taking over my office at work and our home! Currently, there is a sample/work-in-progress centerpiece on my kitchen table, save-the-dates right next to the centerpiece, a huge box of wedding planning guides/bridal mags nearby on the floor, and a whole box of wedding stuff, including the ties for the groomsmen and usher, my shoes, and other random items! The hanging tealight holders and manzanita branches for the rest of my centerpieces are holding court in my office at work . . . as soon as I make room, they’ll be here at home!!!

I’m scared of this part. I barely have room for my clothes in this house as it is. We will have to have a yard sale to make room for wedding stuff! I’ll have to keep this post away from my FI, or he will get another point on the “Courthouse vs. Party Wedding” argument!

Miss Gloss, we are also a Boston/Maine couple and I recommend taking a load up with you every time you go up to Maine! We fill our car up with boxes almost every single time… we are having ours on an island so we have to contend with a ferry, too. It’s getting difficult!

Our wedding was almost 4 months ago and we still have a corner of wedding poop. I’m slowly reclaiming the house back. :)
