Wedding Blog
I can not believe I am really sitting here writing my first blog for Weddingbee! When I got the email saying I was really selected to be a bee I screamed and my coworkers now think I am officially a crazy person. I have been dreaming about this since I stumbled on the hive shortly after Mr. Cloud and I got engaged (almost 17 months ago!) and I just can’t believe it’s really happening!
Okay, deep breaths. I should probably start by introducing myself. I’m Miss Cloud and I live in Virginia’s beautiful cap. city, Richmond, with Mr. Cloud and our fur baby Bella. I grew up in northern VA, but my family is from the Boston area, and my parents live there now as well. Mr. Cloud is also a Yankee from a tiny town in western New York, but we really love Richmond, we fell in love here, and we want to really showcase it for all of our friends and family coming in from out of town to see. So began our big fat Southern wedding of 200+ guests in a stunning cathedral and historic hotel.
So, why Miss Cloud? Well the decision wasn’t easy at all, but I think my thoughts were clouded (hardy har har) by all the cute icons. Growing up I had clouds painted on my bedroom walls courtesy of a talented cousin, and have loved them ever since. As I sit here and type I am also wearing my absolute favorite Nick and Nora PJ’s that I have owned (and worn through) three pairs of, and the print is their classic clouds! Being Miss Cloud seemed to be the perfect fit; if only I had time to sit outside and stare at the clouds these days!
I should also say that things have gotten a bit out of control.
Who knew these things could cost so much?? So I am now into budget cutbacks big time, but luckily I love to craft and am up for the challenge of money saving DIY projects, and I have a LOT to share. We are now just over four months out and things are starting to get crazy, so here we go!
(And I apologize for the large amount of exclamation points in this post. I’m not normally this giddy but I just can’t seem to bring myself to delete a single one!! I’m just too excited to be here!!)

Yay again for a richmond bride! I’m assuming you are having your guests walk from the cathedral to the jefferson? Since they are only about a block apart?

I had my wedding reception at the Jefferson this past November! We had an amazing experience and the whole staff was incredible. Good luck with your planning!

congrats! I think it will be really interesting to see how you work with the north/ south thing, if you do incorporate any of you and mr. cloud’s yankee roots. my fiance is from boston, but i’m from pcola, fl, and i hope we can find a way to mix all the southerners and yankees together!
@Lolo7835 - we actually rented buses and the richmond trolleys to move people. I didn’t want to leave it to walking in case of weather, and who knows if we would see any out of towners again with all the crazy one way streets!
