Hairspiration Revisited

June 30th, 2009 @ 6:23 pm by Mrs. Mascara

My hair and makeup trials are taking place this coming weekend, and I’ve been scrambling to put together some pictures to show the stylist the look I’m going for. This is where the problem lies. I’m no longer certain I know exactly what look I’d like to achieve on the big day. If you remember from my last hairspiration post (which was months ago) I wanted a low side bun, much like these two.

While I still love the low side bun, lately I’ve been drawn towards photos of the low side ponytail. I know what you’re thinking… it’s not much of a departure from the initial inspiration, but enough to warrant another set of pictures!

(all from Project Wedding)

I’ll probably bring in both sets of photos and have the stylist play with both looks to see what will work best. I am really hoping this trial goes well so I don’t have to think about hairstyles anymore!

Which look is your favorite? Are you wearing your hair up or down for your wedding?

I like the bun styles better than down, but they are both super cute. :)

I’ll be wearing my hair (mostly) down for my wedding… I feel like a pinhead otherwise ;) (small face!)

Since they aren’t that much different, could you try a combination - up during the ceremony and then taken down for the reception? You could ask your hairstylist if its possible…

I think it depends on your dress. The ponytail looks great with flowy, romantic fabrics, but the bun would rock with a sleeker cut. I can’t wait to see what you decide on!

I really love how cute curly side ponys are!

I adore the side-pony, but my concern with that look would be your style holding up all day through possible humidity/weather concerns, lots of hugs, dancing, etcetera. Side buns, on the other hand, almost always “keep.” I also think I like the slightly more elegant look of the side bun with your dress and veil. Either will look great!

@gji7: I was thinking about doing that! Might be a fun way to switch up my look between the ceremony and reception!

Thanks for posting these!! I needed more low, side ponytail inspiration to show my stylist come October.

I think I am going to go down, but clipped back out of my face a bit. Then again last week I wanted up, the week before that down, who knows what it will be by november!

I love the low side ponytail! You definitely have the perfect hair to pull these off as well! Lucky :)

You can always do both! I will have a low side bun for the wedding and pictures and at the reception I am going to let my hair down and do a side ponytail. My hair dresser said it is totally doable.

I agree with Miss. Mouse, it will come down to how formal your dress is.
I think the bun is perfect for a slight more formal dress and could translate well to a casual dress.
But the low side pony I think would look best with a more casual dress. And by casual, I mean not-ball gown or heavy on the beading.
All are great inspiration!

So hard to decide - I agree with Scarfy, that the only hesitation on the low side ponytail is whether your hair will hold the curl/waves all day. But, that’s why hair trials are so wonderful!
