The dress! Most of us girls think it’s the most important part of the wedding, but we can’t forget about our grooms!
I’m very petite and it was hard for me to find the dress that would fit me perfectly. I went to many bridal shops and couldn’t find one that I liked. I always had in mind that I would want a lacy type of dress. I wanted more of a flowing soft fabric dress, but when I tried them on they didn’t look right. My sister and I ended up going to Terri Costa, a bridal shop that has many different bridal collections. I chose 3 dresses to try on. One had a HUGE train with blue crystal beading on top and some beading on the train, one was all lace, and one had lots of intricate beading and looked like it would fit me. My sister helped me pick the first two dresses, and the third one was just hanging by the dressing room door. I thought it looked different, and just wanted to try on for fun. The first two dresses were really heavy and looked like they swallowed me whole. When I put the third one on, it fit like a glove. It was quite different than the dress I would imagine myself choosing. I didn’t want a lot of beading, tiers, details, or even a corset top, and this dress was all that and more.
I would recommend trying on different styles of dresses even if you think you won’t like them. You might be surprised! The beading on my dress may be overwhelming for some people, but it was perfect for me. It added some mass so I didn’t look too small, and the dress had a vintage feel that fit my venue very well.

It was quite hard to find a dress that looked ,good from the front and the back and I’m glad I found mine. My dress was designed by Maggie Sottero. The style is called Evita, and I had a custom veil made to match.

My wonderful aunt decided to give me a beautiful veil to match my dress, and I can’t thank her enough. I had some ideas in mind about how it would look, and she had it made for me. The veil had teardrop crystal beading to match my dress. It was quite heavy, but it was worth it, for sure!

For my bridesmaids, I just told them that I liked semi pink and red dresses and I let them pick what they wanted. By having them pick their own dresses they were able to get a dress that fit them best and that they felt good wearing, too. It was important to me to have my girls feel comfortable about what they were wearing. My dress showed off your my style, and my bridesmaids were able to express their own styles, too. Their dresses were by Mori Lee.

For the groom, it was more about comfort. Ron has always been a causal guy and didn’t want to get too dressy with a tux, so we decided to go with a suit. He could also wear it after the wedding for special occasions. We picked out a nice dark chocolate brown suit. The groomsmen wore black suits and red ties. The ties made everything fit together. The groomsmen also chose their own styles of suits.

Have fun with the process of dressing yourselves. As long as the detail colors are similar enough, everything will tie in well together!
