About Mrs. Labrador

The Imposter.

June 30th, 2009 @ 12:54 pm by Mrs. Labrador

My ring’s stunt double came in today. I’m quite impressed. Maybe I should start calling it “the clone”. See for yourself!

I feel so much better not having a naked ring finger. It isn’t as good as having the real deal, but it’ll do while my ring is M.I.A..

If you’ve ever considered getting a stunt double for your ring, I definitely encourage it! If you need a jumping off point, I suggest the company I used, Eve’s Addiction. They have tons of jewelry, and even some designer inspired pieces. The best part is that the majority of their stock is under $50! You are sure to find what you’re looking for there!

I’m sort of new here… What happened to your ring? The “imposter” is amazing! Looks just like it!

Wow, from that distance (which is as close as anyone will see it anyway!) they look THE SAME!

I love the idea, so I just started looking for my own clone… but there aren’t a lot of oval CZs out there, I guess, let alone in my setting. ;) My wedding band will definitely have a sterling silver stunt double for travel, though. :)

I am completely too paranoid to wear my ring to the beach (the ocean is just so huge!!), so my FH and I are both getting “Beach Rings” - I was able to find rings that are pretty close on: http://www.jasterlingsilverjewelry.com .

We’re using these rings on whatever our ring bearer carries up and having the priest bless them. :)

@AlissaLovelady: One of the micro-pave side stones fell out. It’s going to be around a month before I get it back! So Mr. Lab and I decided to get a “stunt double” ring for occasions like this where my ring is either M.I.A. or could be in danger of getting lost or broken like at the beach or gym, etc.

Wow–i can’t even tell the difference! Maybe we should’ve just saved a few grand and gone for one of these bad boys in the first place!

@Miss Mouse: Haha, I know right? I almost convinced Mr. Lab to just propose with a fake ring and then we could buy the real deal later, but he was SO against it. I think that most of us women wouldn’t mind so much with having a fake ring for awhile, but it’s the MEN who have to be all big and flashy! lol

@Miss Labrador: I have the EXACT same ring!! And the same thing just happened to me the other day. I was looking at wedding bands online and looked down at my ring and saw that a pave was missing. :( Apparently they need to be tightened every 6 months - who knew? Luckily it only took them 2 days to repair but I did hate having a naked hand. I definitely want the imposter!!!!!

So cool! They look so similar! Since I lost my wedding ring, maybe I’ll buy a cheapo one for now… I wasn’t planning on replacing it anytime soon, but I can swing a $50 ring with relatively low guilt! Great idea Miss L!

@Mrs. Penguin: How did you lose your ring Pengy? I can’t remember if you told us already. But you should definitely get a “stunt double” no matter what!

I never thought of doing this until reading your blog! And what a coincidence that mine is currently being worked on for the main diamond being loose. I looked on amazon and found one for $13.00 including shipping! Let’s hope it looks good once it comes! Thanks for this great idea :)
