Are fabric flowers becoming the new trend? I’m loving these flowers from this DIY kit that was featured on the Purl Bee. Aren’t the soft colors just dreamy? The kit comes with all the materials (pre-cut!) needed to make this luscious bouquet, and it’s made from organic cotton jersey.

*swoon*
Has anyone tried out this kit yet? Is there another DIY flower kit you would like to review? Where else on the web have you seen fabric flowers?
Despite my (okay, I’ll admit it) nearly constant nagging over the past four or five months, Mr. Star has finally just sent in his passport application. Yay! We’re actually going to get to go on our honeymoon together!
I’ve had a passport for a while now; I got mine so that my best friend and I could go on a whirlwind tour of France one summer during college. My honey, however, has never left the country aside for one middle school weekend trip to Canada. So, our honeymoon is going to blow his mind!
Our honeymoon will be in… wait for it… GREECE! Yes, Greece! We’re terribly excited about it. Not only does it go with our general wedding theme of drama, since Greece is the birthplace of theatre, but it’s also supposed to have incredible sights and delicious food. Plus, my mom bought me a subscription to Rosetta Stone online for Greek about a month ago, so I’ve been learning the language and can’t wait to use it! Granted, my Greek is still pretty limited, but considering how different it is from English and how quickly the program is teaching me, I’m pretty impressed!
One of the things I have loved most about this whole wedding process is the perfectly legitimate excuses that it has given me to learn completely new skills.

Well, that or Miss Vampire. Yes, that’s right. You’ll see.
My regular hairstylist called me about five weeks before the wedding to let me know that she had a family emergency and would not be able to do my hair for the wedding. I was really sad, because she is super talented and knows me so well (I wouldn’t even need to bring inspiration pictures) but I completely understood her situation.
After briefly panicking, I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I was able to book appointments for myself and the whole bridal party at a salon in Ann Arbor with very short notice.
I did my boudoir shoot right before my hair trial, and liked my hair down so much that I almost considered to go with it that way for the wedding. Up until this point I had wanted to put it up, mostly for the sake of convenience. Mr. Taffy suggested that I do the trial up, then decide between the two. I brought inspiration with me, and it seemed like it was going pretty well, but then the stylist decided to take a turn and it all went downhill from there. I found the hair to look very matronly; not my style at all.

But it gets worse…

I have a confession to make. In high school, I used to over-tweeze my eyebrows. See, here’s the proof:
I’m not sure how this got started, but I have a feeling that one day I must’ve looked in the mirror and thought, ‘Man, I’ve totally got a uni-brow. I must do something about it!’ And then instead of getting a second opinion, I probably grabbed my mom’s tweezers and plucked out about a thousand little eyebrow hairs. I guess I liked how it looked because I continued to do this to myself until my sophomore year of college. I only stopped because two good friends of mine decided they needed to stage an intervention with me regarding my tweezing habits. That’s right—an eyebrow intervention. They told me that the way my brows were shaped I looked like I was in a constant state of surprise. How could I have not noticed for that long?

… Ms. Joey decided on flowers for her bouquet.
I had some flower inspiration before, but now I know what flower is going to be featured in my modern bouquet — the Billy Button.
I first ran across this flower months ago when I saw it on one of my favorite wedding inspiration websites, Black. White. Yellow. I loved the Billy Button and then I forgot about it until a recent search for yellow flowers.
Then, I came across this:

Next up in our “Real Bee Budgets” series is invitations! Weddingbee has seen a great mix of invitations over the years. Some bees have commissioned artists and stationers to handle the entire invitation process, some have hired graphic designers and completed the assembly at home, and some have DIYed their invites completely! Up first today are invitations that were either entirely professional, or semi-DIY.

Thank you for the warm responses on our invitation post! The Mr and I had huge smiles on our faces while we read everyone’s super sweet comments. It made all our hard work totally worth it. And now, we’re ready to share the details. There were so many elements to our invitation suite, so I’ll try my best to lay things out as clearly as possible. But if you have any questions, feel free to send them my way!
Each part of the invitation was designed in Adobe Illustrator.

Miss Sunflower’s engagement shoot began at 5:45 AM! They tried to catch the sunrise, but because the day was cloudy, they missed it.
Regardless, their pictures turned out beautifully!
Way back when, I posted about the different centerpiece items I’d purchased from Crate & Barrel. If you link over, you’ll see the cute little tealight holders, vases, and black chargers. In my mind it was going to be simple, chic, and budget friendly! I’d pick a great bloom to go in each vase, wrap ribbon around the vases and place everything on damask table squares.
I finally compiled everything a month or two ago to see my vision come to life. Here she is:

It could be worse… but could be better, to say the least.

For some reason, every time I read the word “honorifics” my brain says “horrorifics”. This was pretty funny until I discovered the reason for my brain’s Freudian slip.
Honorifics are complicated! I went so far as to post my status on Facebook as “Married friends—can I get some sort of consensus here? How do you prefer to be addressed? Mr. and Mrs. John Smith? Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith? Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Jones-Smith? Mr and Mrs. John and Jane Smith (this one seems odd and redundant to me)? Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Jones?”
What I received? Was anything but a consensus. Some people said Mr. and Mrs. John Smith was fine, others said, “I’m not Mrs. John…”, and I received more opinions, still! I felt pretty much back at square one. I checked out these posts on A Practical Wedding, the Crane Blue Book, and Emily Post for advice. But what I really found to be the most helpful? Simply calling or texting those who I thought might have a preference on their honorifics and asking them what they preferred. This way I’m honoring our guests’ identity choices and attempting to avoid disrespecting their decisions. I also solved several horrorific addresses by addressing them to the XXXXXX family.
I did learn a few interesting things from my horrorifics experience. For example, becoming a Mrs.? That doesn’t come from getting married - it only applies if the woman changes her name. So my sister? Technically not a Mrs., since she kept her maiden name. I’m also grateful that we have very few military personnel in our family and I don’t know any judges that I would need to address as “The Honorable”.

Since becoming engaged, I’ve kept my ears open to possible “must have” songs for our wedding. I’m still unsure whether to hire a ceremony musician/reception D.J. or be an iPod couple all the way, but in any case, we’ll want to have a say on a few music selections for the day. We’re doing things a bit non-traditionally, especially when it comes to the ceremony music.
I’ve compiled a list of songs for different parts of the ceremony and reception. There are a few gaps where I’m not sure what song(s) to use, so feel free to suggest something that will flow with the choices we’ve made so far! Without further ado, I present our wedding day “playlist”:

Lately, I’ve been thinking about what my life will be like post-wedding. Like many of you out there, this wedding has become my baby. I spend so much time thinking about it, molding it, perfecting it… it’s hard separating myself from it. And often when I’m not physically working on it, my mind is turning over new ideas for it.
As we near the four month mark at the Beagle house, I’m realizing that this whole post-wedding depression that was once looming in the distance is speeding toward me like a bullet. Will I continue to get my daily fix of wedding blogs after the big day? How much will I miss all the projects I’m constantly working on? Even though sometimes I just want to get the wedding over, I know that deep down, I have thoroughly enjoyed this process in my life and will sorely miss it once it’s gone.
To prevent being overwhelmed with change, I’ve started to map out my married life.
