You know how we all have a list of things that went wrong on the big day? I know I focused on it a good bit during the honeymoon. But you think, OK, get over it. You are married now!
One of the things that went wrong is really hard to get over for me. My “something old” wasn’t there on our big day. It was my great-grandmother’s rosary and, like many Catholic brides, I had planned on having it weaved somehow in the bouquet. So, two weeks before, my maid of honor, Miss K, drove it over to my florist and dropped it off.
The wedding day came, and she dropped off our beautiful bouquets.

Photo of flowers taken by Mizz K. Aren’t they lovely?
–back to the story –
I was still getting beautified by the miracle workers that were my hair & makeup artists, so I just thanked my florist so she could run to the church.
Ten minutes before, I was getting ready to climb in the limo, when we each took our bouquets. They were breathtaking, gorgeous… wait… where was my rosary?

OK, OK, I’m late. I promised to post about my next something way back in May but then never got around to it. I have no excuses. You’ve seen my something borrowed, so now, here’s my something old…
My something old is really old. It’s the oldest anything in my family and besides my engagement ring, the one thing I cherish the most (people not included).

The earrings belonged to my maternal grandma Isabel and before her, to her mother. Great Grandma Joey died when grandma Joey was about 8 years old. These earrings mean a lot because they belonged to Grandma Joey and we were really close when she was alive. I actually think that apart from when we or she was on vacation, I saw her at least once a week until she died when I was 12 years old.
So these earring are special to me not only because they are hers, but also because of the story behind them.

Hi, my name is Miss French Bulldog, I have HORRIBLE skin and I cannot believe I am about to post this on the internet for the world to see. I must really love you readers! (Aww)
This past Sunday I drove down to San Diego for my makeup trial with Ashley Lowe of AC Makeup. Ashley was recommended to me by Mr Frenchie’s best man’s wife, Lindsay (did you get all that?). Lindsay didn’t use Ashley for her wedding, but she had heard wonderful things about her from her friends on Bridal Insider. Plus, Lindsay wanted to keep me far away from her makeup artist because, well, that was a nightmare. Okay, enough stalling, here is everyday Miss French Bulldog.
Lemme just point out the lovely zit on the corner of my mouth and I’ll stop with the self deprecation. See it? Okay, I’m done.
One of the reasons Ashley is to highly recommended is because she uses an airbrush.

Because with less than three months to go, and very little checked off my wedding “to-do” list, I couldn’t just stick with one of the few decisions I’ve made and move on from there. Oh no. Dresses are just too pretty!
First of all, to those of you who commented, PM’d, and emailed: thank you so much for your suggestions.
I am not even going to pretend that I was able to keep straight who sent me what dresses. I am not that organized. All I know is that I received dozens upon dozens of beautiful, wearable white and nearly-white inexpensive dress suggestions from a wonderful community of style- and sale-conscious women!
This post showcases some of my favorites.
First, the Etsy options.

Our day has finally come! In a few hours from now, Mr. Yorkie will become my husband and I will become his wife. (Just typing those words causes tears of joy to stream down my face.) I have loved every moment of our journey over the past three years and can’t wait for us to embark on this new adventure together!
The last few days have had their share of trials, be it canceled flights due to bad weather in Dallas and Atlanta to my bridal shower-gone-awry yesterday that ended almost as soon as it started with my aunt’s visit to the emergency room.

This weekend my fiance will be painting the town of Milwaukee red, or whatever color it is that men paint a town… blue, perhaps? Either way, he and his boys will be having a blast! He says he’ll take pictures, so maybe we’ll have a full report next week! Now that I think about it, maybe not the full report. A partial one could be fun, though.

The party should be pretty crazy.

Last night I had one of my first wedding-themed dreams.
We were running late, or we were rushed - I can’t remember, only that everyone was seated really quickly. The weather was gorgeous, and everyone was sitting in chivari chairs on the high meadow at Westwind (the grassy meadow that overlooks the coastline). I was running late, I had no makeup on, and my hair was just down - normal, straight, flat. The ceremony was starting in a few minutes, so I grabbed a strip of extra lace fabric, and tied my hair in a loose low side ponytail with a lacy bow (I’ve actually been eyeing my mom’s vintage lace scarf! I don’t think she’d actually let me use it, though… it’s sooo pretty). I was wearing my insanely stunning gown, but I was barefoot and late. So I ran the mile from our cabin to the ceremony site. Barefoot. In my designer gown and lace bow.
Everyone was waiting there for me, and although only 20 or so (out of 150!) had made it, they all looked so happy to see me. I caught my breath - and I caught the most beautiful smile from my fiancé, waiting for me at the other end of the aisle. I grabbed some wildflowers from the earth, and, holding them haphazardly at my side, I walked down the aisle to marry my best friend. We had forgotten the rings, but we didn’t care - we said our vows, and we married anyways.
My first wedding dream was riddled with hang-ups and problems, but the thing I remember most of the dream wedding day is how happy I was.

Ever since I’ve become a bee, I’ve been in love with anything bee related, and it simply added to my already existing love of honey. I eat honey with practically anything… almost. So When I received an email with The Buzz about Naked Honey… I was excited!

This week, I’ve taken on a very serious mission – one that few at work would guess I’m equipped to handle.
By day, I’m a mild mannered reporter, but after work I slip into the nearest phone booth and transform into …
MAKE-UP LADY!
Wielding my magic brushes and two large cases of makeup, I transform a cast of ordinary teenagers into a slew of crapshooters and hotbox dancers for the musical Guys and Dolls.

This poor high schooler looks scared because I just finished yelling “Not enough blush!” and attacking her face with my brush.

Lately I’ve been trolling Etsy like crazy for everything from wedding day jewelry to rehearsal dinner outfits. Buying stuff off of Etsy makes me feel good for many reasons: 1) it’s unique, 2) it helps to support independent artists and crafters, 3) it’s cheap, and 4) a lot of the stuff you can buy is made out of recycled or repurposed (upcycled) items.
During the invitation extravaganza that was taking place in my head last week, I became obsessed with looking at paper goods on Etsy. Here is just a sampling of the wonders I found.
Has anyone thought about using a handmade vintage journal like this as a guestbook? I think it would be pretty.
