Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Process Engineer
Engagement Date: July 27, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: Catholic ceremony, reception at local armory
About Me: A lover of Mr. Mascara, crafting, baking, Gossip Girl, diet soda, and all things wedding. A Yooper girl somehow displaced in the Chicago suburbs, planning a wedding from a distance, and counting down the days until I marry my best friend.
Ladies and gents, we have a flower girl dress. I had previously posted about some of the options, but never gave you the final selection! I’m sure you’ve been waiting in suspense. Or not.
Either way, when I first laid eyes on this adorable dress from TheBoutiqueBaby on Etsy, I knew it was the one.

Mrs. Gloss, Boston/Maine
Age and Occupation: 24, Designer/soon-to-be Architect
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Systems Engineer
Engagement Date: May 23, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2009
Venue: SS Katahdin/Lakeside Tent
About Me: I don't like nickels or the skin that forms on pudding when it's in the fridge for too long. I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. I am truly excited about having all my family and friends together, becoming Mrs. Gloss, and having amazing photos to prove it!
How else could she afford all of these fabulous dresses?

Mrs. Stiletto, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 26, Non-Profit/Fundraising
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Engineer and Photographer
Engagement Date: March 2, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: The 19th Century Club
About Me: My fiance and I love living in the city of Chicago with our cats Basil and Linus, and vow to never move to the suburbs if we can possibly avoid it! We’ve poured ourselves into planning a wedding that reflects our personal style - modern and high contrast with a vintage twist. Blogging keeps me creative, baking keeps me happy, and grande nonfat no foam sugar free vanilla lattes keep me sane.
Yes, in about 3 1/2 months, this is what Mr. S and I will be looking at:

We’re both getting really excited about honeymooning in Aruba! It was very important to me that we take a honeymoon immediately after the wedding… I wanted that feeling of jetting off after the big day and being just “us” for a while before real life came back into the picture. But unfortunately, we weren’t sure what we could really afford to do. In stepped the Stiletto parents, who never took a “true” honeymoon, and didn’t want us to miss the opportunity. They ever so generously gifted us 1 week of their timeshare, ours to trade for whatever location was available for our desired week.
We looked at the Dominican Republic (not the best location, we decided, for September) and I daydreamed about Thailand, Bali and New Zealand…

Mrs. Hot Cocoa, Boston/Los Angeles
Age and Occupation: 31, JD/PhD Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Medical Student
Engagement Date: May 30, 2008
Wedding Date: March, 2009
Blogging Since: April, 2008
Venue: Ritz Carlton, Marina Del Rey
About Me:
I am a professional student by day and an amateur cupcake taster, bargain shopper, and wedding planner by night. I am obsessed with NPR, the Food Network, paper, dance shows, Anthropologie, post-structuralist theory, Weddingbee!, "The Office," and celebrity gossip. When not procrastinating from my dissertation, I spend time catering to Jellyby, our overly anxious shih tzu, and getting to know Mr. Hot Cocoa. We have only been dating for fifteen years, so it's like I'm in love with a stranger! From the East Coast, we are planning a Jewish-Chinese Extravaganza in L.A., where we both grew up.
Just thought I’d pass along the info that One Kings Lane — the Gilt Groupe of home decor — is having a sale on Mindy Weiss’s line of wedding-related accessories. Everything looks to be between 50-75% off the retail price.

To tell you the truth, I’d never purchase any of these items for full price (what am I going to do with a “newlyweds” door mat?!). But 50% off? I love a good sale!

Mrs. Glitter, Los Angeles
Age and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/Writer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Accounting
Engagement Date: May 6, 2007
Wedding Date: June, 2009
Venue: Millenium Biltmore Hotel
About Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.
Our wedding will welcome guests from ages 1 to 85 years old. You can’t please everyone, especially when it comes to music, but I wanted our song list to appeal to a wide range of peeps. It’s tough because we have several older guests coming who are notorious for not dancing. We want everyone to have fun and get up and dance to at least a few songs! It is A PARTY after all.
We hope to create two different “moods” at the reception. During dinner, we will stay safe, classy, and upbeat with Sinatra-like music. After the meal, we want an infusion of current and old school songs. If our all-night open bar doesn’t encourage people to get loose, well then… it’s hopeless.
Here is a sampling of the tunes list we gave our DJ.
Dinnertime Music (Sinatra, Buble or similar… but nothing too cheesy to the point that we will feel like we are eating at one of those old Italian restaurants. I love those restaurants, but I don’t want to overdo it at dinner.)
- Michael Buble – Sway
- Michael Buble – Summer Wind
- Michael Buble – Everything
- Frank Sinatra – You Make me Feel So Young
- Frank Sinatra- Nice ’N’ Easy
- Frank Sinatra – Night and Day
Reception Music (Mr. G and I love hip hop amongst many other genres. But we have tamed our list down so that guests like my grandparents don’t run out covering their ears.)

Mrs. Bunny, Columbus
Age and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/Reporter
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Reporter
Engagement Date: September 23, 2008
Wedding Date: July 2009
Venue: Everal Barn, Westerville
About Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts.
Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
… by the DIY bug!
With less than a month left until the wedding and having finally nailed down a vendor or two, I can actually start to think about the projects I’ll do once I have all the major things taken care of.
I’m not exactly the most crafty girl in the world, but I did learn a thing or two from dorm life that have come in handy over the years.
I can convincingly wield a mod podge-covered sponge brush and make passable homemade cards. I can knit a scarf … kind of. I absolutely CANNOT use a sewing machine. The thought of DIYing my flowers makes me wince (hence the decision to hire a pro, in spite of the money I could save by arranging them myself).
But something along these lines, I could do:
Simple, fresh, casual and lovely. Blush pink looks great with kraft paper brown!

About Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. Mrs. Cub, Chile/Portland
Age and Occupation: 26, Astronomer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Astronomer
Engagement Date: May 10, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: Westwind YWCA camp
About Me: I'm a small-town girl who's making a living in Chile, with her heart in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in Southern California, went to high school in Texas, grad school in New Mexico, and now I can't wait to settle down in Oregon! I love pears, hazelnuts,
knitting, traveling, running, baking, and long talks on the phone with
good friends. I'm planning my Oregon coast summer camp wedding while
abroad with my best friend - I'm always at home when I'm with him!
I want a KitchenAid like little kids want to stick their fingers in the wedding cake!
Doesn’t it seem like everyone has a KitchenAid on their registry these days? I really need one, too! I baked brioche and sourdough bread from scratch this weekend, all using my hands. Kneading is tuff stuff!
Sometimes I wonder, though, if my kitchen gadget fiending type-casts me as uber-white. We’re under pretty hefty pressure, apparently, to
like cooking!
White people like a lot of stuff, and you can check out the rest of the list here - what a great way to get to know another whitey, like me! (I like that it’s a list. As a whitey myself, this helps. We like lists.)

Mrs. French Bulldog, Orange County
Age and Occupation: 28, Administrative Assistant & Interior Design Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Purchasing Analyst
Engagement Date: November 8, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2009
Venue: Bernardo Winery
About Me: I've lived in Atlanta, Dallas and Laguna Niguel; although I've lived in Orange County, CA most my life, I'm a Southerner at heart. I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
I can’t remember what I started drooling over first, wedding dresses or wedding shoes. I LOVE shoes! (Really, what girl doesn’t?) If I take a look at the collection of shoes I’ve bookmarked over the past 7 months (have I really been planning that long?) I see a trend—pumps.

Mrs. Yorkie, Miami
Age and Occupation: 30, Graduate Admissions Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 41, Asst. Professor
Engagement Date: July 3, 2008
Wedding Date: June 2009
Venue: Red Fish Grill
About Me: I’m an East Coast girl with a crafty streak who loves traveling, photography and being outdoors (barefoot, if possible). When I do have to wear shoes, I prefer Mizunos, and have worn out a few pairs running marathons. I have a thing for chai, crossword puzzles, Apples to Apples, The Office and my real-life Yorkie, Bella. My West Coast transplant, Mr. Yorkie, roots for the Buckeyes, loves baseball, and climbs mountains for fun. We’re planning a fun little seaside wedding filled with handmade details and vintage charm. I can hardly wait!
Expect the best, plan for the worst, and prepare to be surprised.
~ Denis Waitley
With our ceremony outdoors on a public beach in the middle of June in Miami, there’s no telling what conditions will be like on the Big Day. For starters, there could be pouring rain (as there has for the past 18 days straight). Another concern is that on the section of beach that Mr. Yorkie and I have identified as our “perfect spot”, there could be any number of bathing suit-clad park patrons, camped out with their coolers and umbrellas. Since the beach officially closes to the public at sunset (about an hour after our ceremony), we really aren’t allowed to ask them to move. Aside from asking someone to hang out on the spot for us, for who know
s how many hours before the wedding, there isn’t much that we can do about it.

Mrs. Latte, Boston/NYC
Age and Occupation: 29, College Admissions Counselor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Elementary School Teacher
Engagement Date: August 23, 2008
Wedding Date: July 2009
Venue: Stage 6 at Steiner Studios
About Me: I am an East Coast girl marrying a West Coast boy. After 2 years of over 3,000 miles between us, Mr. Latte and I are looking forward to finally living in the same time zone/coast/city/home and living “normal couple” lives. I am a crafter at heart and enjoy dragging my friends into new craft projects. I love my Mac, baking cupcakes, wrapping presents, my BlackBerry, naps, good NY style pizza, Jack Bauer and of course, Mr. Latte. I love him a latte. :)
Remember my big brown mystery box? Well, my instincts were correct… it WAS my dress! OK, I cheated and peeked at the return address, but that only made it harder to keep myself from tearing the box apart!
After a very long week of waiting, I lugged the thing over to Kleinfeld’s for my first fitting… where the box was immediately taken away from me! Uh wait, I couldn’t even indulge in my fantasies and open it myself??? I couldn’t sulk for very long, because before I knew it, I was introduced to my alterations specialist, Anna, and whisked away to my room. I stood in front of the curtain and took a deep breath…
See, I was pretty nervous to be reunited with my dress. It took so long for me to actually find, decide and commit to her, and since then, I’ve been (guiltily) eyeing other gorgeous gowns in magazines, store windows, online, and of course, here in the hive. Doubts would often make their way into my head, and as much as I would try to push them out, they would eventually make their way back. So darn persistent!
So I closed my eyes, pulled back the curtain and saw her:
(Mr. Latte, sorry buddy, but this is your cue to biz-ounce.)

Engagement Date: December 21, 2007
Wedding Date: April, 2009
Blogging Since: August 22, 2008
Venue: Country Club ceremony, ballroom reception
About Me: I’m a total wonkette who is lucky enough to be surrounded by her favorite things on a daily basis – awesome music, the great State of Texas and of course, Mr. Lemonade! I find any excuse I can to craft something and am completely infatuated with the 1950’s, all things Kennedy, and my furbaby Vida.
Are you ready for some recaps?! Well alright, let’s get right to it! I’ve spent some time thinking about how to structure the posts and I’ve decided that the most logical way to organize them (for me at least) is to go in chronological order, laying the events out in the order in which I lived them…

Thursday, April 16, 2009 was the first day of my wedding vacation. I had to work the days prior and up until that moment it seemed like any other week. I had planned to sleep in that morning since I had been up very late every night that week in a desperate attempt to finalize all of the shopping, packing, and crafting. It was a MAJOR goal of mine to be done by this Thursday and for the most part we hit that target. However, I was so stinkin’ excited to get my party on that I barely slept past 6AM.
