The reply cards are rollin’ in, so that means two things: 1. The wedding is really happening! And 2. It’s time to reveal our invites! Woohoo!

We decided to go with the pink/brown combo for the invitations, and the green/brown combo for the reply cards. I love the way they incorporate all of our wedding colors! Mmmm… letterpress. Don’t you just want to reach out and touch them?

I was chatting with my friend Jeremy (of the panel) about registries and whether he and his lovely bride Dani got many gifts from it. I’ll admit, I’m a little worried about it. I’ve been stalking our registries; I admit that, too. Anyway, as we were chatting, I realized he must have thought that I was really superficial about presents. I’ve blogged way too much about our registries already, and I’m sure this was the 3rd or 4th conversation we’ve had about them. So, I decided to come clean about why I’m paranoid about gifts.
I’ve gotten some pretty weird gifts over the years. Yes, everyone gets weird gifts, but this has been pretty consistent throughout my life. I once got a can of peaches for Christmas. My Dad had just seen this S & W commercial where people were really happy about getting canned fruit, so he decided to copy it. He was joking, of course, and later gave me a card with some money. That’s kind of cute and funny, but that’s where those types of gifts end.
Some of the funnier gifts I’ve been given:

I’m pretty much in love with this rehearsal dinner designed by Amy Nichols and featured on Style Me Pretty. I want to know what the wedding itself looked like if the rehearsal dinner was this beautiful!

Last night, the Boston bees descended on Radius in the Financial District. The usual bar crowd — guys doing post-work drinks in corporate uniforms — didn’t know what hit them.

Check out the hotties! These bees bring all the boys to the yard.

This boot, that is.
Mr. Bruschetta and I have known for some time that we want to honeymoon in Italy — in fact, we selected our wedding date to ensure it would be the optimal time — shoulder season — to visit our desired destination. And, after monitoring airline prices for the past six months, we recently snapped up our plane tickets. We’ll have one day after the wedding to recuperate, and then we’re flying into Rome for our 12 day Italian honeymoon!

When Mr. CB and I first moved to Santa Fe, two years ago, we road tripped it from New York City through the south. We’d been living in Brooklyn for a year and were craving some wide open space. If the concrete jungle taught us anything, though, it was how to eat and plan your meals carefully. You can’t get a table without calling ahead, you can’t cook at home without first devising which way you’ll walk from the subway to ensure you pass a grocery store, and you can’t eat well unless you look at reviews first.

Thus, on our road trip, I carefully mapped out which restaurants we should stop at along our route out West.

I did it! I gave up control… of our honeymoon!! (Very difficult for me and my OCD-ness.)
I have no idea where we are going, and I love it. I posted previously about not knowing where to go on our honeymoon here, here and then again, here. I got so frustrated with the amount of choices and my desire for it to be absolutely perfect; it was overwhelming. Add that on top of wedding planning and I was getting seriously stressed out.
So Mr. Gloss took over, with a few suggestions from me of things I was hoping for.
My criteria: Someplace warm, where somebody will put a drink in my hand (preferably a margarita) and I won’t have to do anything all day long… unless I want to, and in that case, I want there to be a lot of options for things to do.
My parents have offered to pay for our flights. So between my mom, Mr. Gloss, and the travel agent, I’m pretty sure they can come up with something wonderful. I get a few questions every so often about my ‘travel preferences’ from Mr. Gloss, like, “Are you planning on working out when we are there (i.e. do you want a nice gym)?” Or, “Do you want there to be a TV in our room?” On top of that, more logistical questions from my mom, like “Should we book tickets in your new name?”
I’m packing a floppy hat, large sunglasses, and warm weather clothes, no matter what.

This is our second post on flowers of the month. This month, I’m covering my favorite June blooms. Of course, some of these flowers are available longer than just June. These are just a few of the flowers that I’m seeing this month. Some of these flowers might be hard to find in your area; I’ve tried my best to note that.

I don’t know anything about flowers.
Yeah, I know what some of them look like. I can tell a peony from a poppy. I can correctly identify Queen Anne’s Lace when I’m walking along a country road. And a rose is a rose is a rose, of course.
But I’ve only gotten maybe three or four bouquets in my life — one grocery store bouquet on the occasion of my graduation, miniature yellow roses from my parents on my 18th birthday, bright pink and white lilies for an anniversary.
So I have no idea how much flowers cost or where to buy them. I know what I like: full, open blooms like peonies, which of course, I can’t afford on our teeny tiny budget. What bride doesn’t love peonies? They’re so soft and romantic. Perfect for a wedding.
Yah, you’re seeing “our” green with other floral greens, and it’s OKAY! Where were you, With This Ring, a few days ago, when I was stupidly stressing about greens?!

Scrolling through her wedding, I see so many similarities to mine - bold green, black and white damask, etc. But I also noticed that there are different shades of green represented throughout the wedding, and not just in the flowers.

Did you know that South Americans hate it when people from the US call themselves Americans? They love saying “America’s a continent, not a country, #$(&@!!” I now find myself saying things like, “Hi! I’m United-States-ian!” You learn all sorts of interesting things about your home country when you move abroad.
This isn’t a post about living abroad, though, because Mr. Bear Cub and I are going to have a real American engagement shoot! (in the sense we’re used to thinking!)
In the months leading up to our move, I poked around a bit on the ‘net to see what possibilities lay in actually getting married in Chile. This was really just a fleeting thought (my parents would be pissed if they had to fly down here for our wedding), but it led me to Kyle Hepp, an American girl (United-States-ian
) who married her Chilean sweetheart in Chile, lives in Santiago, and is now a professional wedding photographer.
In addition to having some pretty hilarious insights into Chilean life on her personal blog, her professional work reminds me of some of her favorite wedding photographers, like Punam Bean and Elizabeth Messina.

Oh yes, I am a total shoe whore - so it’s only appropriate that I ended up being a two-shoe bride. Therefore, while we continued to be primped and the boys headed down to the limo, our photographer, Travis Hoehne, took the opportunity to take my two pairs of shoes and dress out for a spin. He displayed them in a variety of fun places - from hotel hallway, to bathroom, to window ledge. I’m really happy with how these shots turned out - they will look fabulous in an album!
First up, my Alexander McQueen black and white striped satin slingbacks! They would be used for the reception, and I had been practicing our first dance in them for the past few months.

Ah, the thank you cards. I knew from the beginning that I (I say I because “we” didn’t care) wanted to do postcards. I love getting postcards more than I like getting letters. Maybe it’s because I’ve sent so many as a traveler, or because I love seeing images of all the places my friends and family have visited.
Originally I was going to go with something like this:

And then I wanted to do something more personal, like takign a cheesy picture of Mr. Joey and me holding the presents and giving the camera a wink and a thumbs up.
The first option was doable, but I wasn’t feeling it so much.
