Hey Nor Cal gals! Mrs. Peep Toe and I would love to see you at the Bay Area bee meet up today!

Join us at 3PM at Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley. The address is 1920 Shattuck Avenue and it’s conveniently located near the Downtown Berkeley BART station. See you there!
… Ms. Joey will attempt a difficult task — the seating arrangements.
At first Mr. Joey and I weren’t going to do assigned seats. The lunch is a buffet, so it wasn’t like servers needed to know who sat where. We changed our minds when we started looking at the guest list. It’s a pretty random assortment of people from all phases of our lives, together and apart.
We decided on assigned seats because A) we have 4 different size tables that seat anywhere between 4-10 people, and B) We will have random people at the wedding who aren’t going to know anyone.
We don’t want a group of 6 to take the table for 8 and then have a random couple have to sit there, because there isn’t room for both of them elsewhere. We also want people to mingle. We don’t want my side of the family to sit on the right side of the dance floor and Mr. Joey’s family sitting on the left. They don’t necessarily have the sit together at tables, but maybe every other table could be my family or his.
The seating chart seemed doable. I got through 2 of the big tables painlessly and then I got stuck. Who sits with whom? What about the random single person at the table? I don’t want a singles table, but I don’t want a single person stuck at a table of just couples.
I thought about just randomly selecting people - just throwing names into a hat and filling tables - but then thought again.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
To Mr. G,
Has the day finally arrived?! My cup runneth over. Soon we will become husband and wife. I remember when we first met. I felt like the world sort of melted away. It was as if no one else existed but us. My heart grew a little bigger that day. And I don’t think it has stopped since then. You mean more to me than I could ever say in words. Take good care of my heart, it’s yours now and forever. I love you!
And to the fabulous Weddingbee community,
Blogging for Weddingbee has been an amazing experience. I never realized how much the kindness and support of you, the readers, could affect my life in such a positive way. You don’t know how much your encouragement and sweet comments helped me get through all the happy and challenging experiences of this process. Wedding planning is a roller coaster of emotions. It’s fun, exciting and terrifying all rolled into one. Thank you all for making my journey a memorable one! See you on the flip side.
Love,
Miss Glitter
Mr. Bear Cub and I both have a deep appreciation for poetry. When we were getting to know each other three years ago, he chose to learn more about me by looking in my bookcase. I had recently acquired a book of love poems by Pablo Neruda. Amidst our tiny circle of friends in graduate school, Mr. Bear Cub was surprised to find another person who even knew of Neruda!
I’m sure many of you already know of this poet - his words are commonly found in wedding ceremonies these days - but for those who don’t, allow me to briefly introduce you to one of the most famous and beloved writers of Chile.
Pablo Neruda was born in 1904 in a small town a few hundred kilometers south of Santiago.

Yesterday was an extraordinarily sad day for myself and my family. After fifteen wonderful years, we decided to put down our sweet little dog, Molly.
Molly was an adorable little girl who loved jumping through the pachysandra, going on romps through the woods and relaxing in the sunshine. One of my favorite habits of hers was in the summertime when we had shorts or a skirt on, if Molly walked by you and was feeling especially lovey, she’d give our legs a little slick. Like a little passing, “Love you!”
But in recent years, Molly had heart problems.

More than you’d think! Last weekend, I ventured to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in the Four Corners area of Colorado. I’ve become a big fan of bluegrass since I moved to the Southwest two years ago and while I didn’t recognize most of the bands playing, I thoroughly enjoyed them all and even picked up a couple new favorites.
Early on in the day, a band called Greensky Bluegrass rocked the stage. You’re probably thinking, “C’mon, Ms. Cowboy Boot. What does this have to do with Weddingbee?” Well, let me show you how one die-hard fan (and bride-to-be) went about booking her music vendor:

Over the months, I have changed my mind many a time about what my wedding band should look like. Hey, I think I’m starting to see a pattern here! At first, I was obsessed with the idea of my and the Dude’s wedding bands matching. I thought that matching wedding bands were more symbolic or something. And since the Dude has known from day one that he just wants a simple platinum band, I thought the decision was pretty much made.
Then I somehow got into my head the idea of buying Celtic rings. I don’t really identify that much with my Irish and Scots-Irish background–I just thought they were pretty. I brought my mom and the Dude with me to a local Celtic boutique, and they both loved the idea of wedding bands with three-dimensional Celtic designs on them.
How cute is this idea for the kiddies at your wedding? Reader t-blaz’s caterer put together these kids’ meals, and t-blaz added pics of her and her hubby at kids to the table. Check out what was included in the meals here!

I’m a busy girl. I wish I had tons of time each day to sit down and click through all of the new stuff I’ve got in RSS, but I don’t. That said, there are some I rarely skip. I want to take a minute to share with you some of the sites that I do make a point to visit on an almost daily basis (aside from Weddingbee, of course).
These sites all focus on individuality, frugality, and/or non-traditional wedding elements. They’re not listed here in any particular order.
Offbeat Bride
Offbeat Bride is not just a blog, it’s also a book! I haven’t read it, but I would if I had time. Admittedly, a lot of the weddings featured on Offbeat Bride are a little too offbeat for my taste, but it really helps to see that so many couples turned their wedding days in to exactly what they wanted. The author, Ariel, says that “To me, offbeat isn’t about rebelling or showing the world how weird you are. Rather, it’s about questioning all the wedding visions you’ve been fed and to striving to create an event that’s an authentic reflection of you and your partner.” I can definitely agree with that!! There’s also the Offbeat Bride Tribe. Don’t be thinking you have to have visible tattoos and purple hair to be a member of the tribe. It’s a members-only forum with hundreds of supportive groups. (Examples: Quaker Brides, The Heavy Metal Bride, Ebay Addicts, Non-Legal Weddings, and my personal fave: Tiny, Small & Intimate Weddings). Join up! (And if you’re a member, PM me your username so we can be friends!)

Today the bees are sharing their cake costs! Check out all the rest of the bees’ budgets featured in our Real Bee Budget series!

Mrs. Cookie’s Cake
Cake: Chocolate cake with raspberry preserves, white fondant, and blue royal icing
Cost: $500
Served: 65 (hardly any left over)
Bakery: Blue Moon Bakery
Location: Silverthorne, Colorado
Topper: $5 at Target

“After our initial baker backed-out on us a month before our wedding, I was just happy to have cake at all. But Chief Ben Reil at Blue Moon Bakery stepped in and saved the day. He made us a chocolate cake with raspberry preserves covered in white fondant and decorated with blue royal icing. Unfortunately, with four other weddings that weekend, he couldn’t deliver the cake to our venue. The cake was modified from our original design so that my parents could pick it up and also so it would survive the trek up the mountain on a windy gravel road. The cake toppers were salt and pepper shakers that I found at Target.”

Who knew weddings had so much STUFF? Napkins, lanterns, batteries, glasses, gifts, decorations, and the list goes on.
As our date gets nearer and nearer, our apartment is getting overwhelmed with wedding paraphernalia and gifts.
Remember my new inspiration for the table numbers? Well, I played with it a little and came up with this…

It doesn’t look great because I haven’t finalized the text of each panel and I printed it on regular copy paper. I have some thicker paper leftover from the luggage tag favors that I’ll use.
