About Mrs. Stiletto

Hair, Hair, Hair

July 1st, 2009 @ 5:41 pm by Mrs. Stiletto

I know I’m going to have to schedule my hair and makeup trial soon. Great, right? If I could nail down what I wanted, I’d be stoked. I’ve no clue about makeup, nor do I have any inspiration (or know where to look for some!), so that’s a post for another day.

I debated on different hairstyles previously, and even thought about being a short haired bride. Now it’s time to stop debating and get real… what’s a girl to choose?

This is my hair currently… except I’d curled it for a wedding and I’m sporting some fabulously awful roots (I’m hoping to make the color a bit richer before the day). I’ve got a decent amount of length going on, but my hair is pretty thin.

So, please help me decide!

A. This is still my front runner - I had posted it before. Not only do I love the cool loops, even though I can’t see the front, I imagine that there’s some volume/interest going on. I don’t want my hair flat against my head if at all possible.

B. So great! I love this. Although I hate that on The Knot you often only get a shot of the back. As I said above, I want volume. But this woven effect is fabulous.

C. One of Miss Hot Cocoa’s bridesmaids! I saw this and immediately dragged the picture onto the desktop! It’s similar to the one above - I must really be digging woven hairstyles these days.

D. A bit of a departure from the rest! I’m not normally all into curls, but I’m liking this. It has textures and detail and volume.

So, what do you think? A, B, C, D, or do you have a hairstyle that is just what I’m looking for?!

Being a curly haired girl I love D, but I also LOVE that B with that woven look! You need a poll!!! :)

B & C would probably work best since your hair is short. The other ones seems like they require longer hair to make all the tresses/curls, etc. They are all beautiful - but to save you some stress on your wedding day & worrying if it will come out the way you pictured it - I vote for one.
Might steal four from you though. I might have to cut my hair before the wedding - it’s growing too fast :(

A, B & D were all photos that I took with me to my own hair trial! I ended up with something similar to B, but as you said, with some volume in the front. I also had a tiny swoop in the front.
I’m going to say B…but only so we can be hair twins. ;)

A or C, C because I can tell that there is volume on the photo both would look stunning.

I like C and D. C looks very sophisticated and chic. D looks more romantic and whimsical. Maybe at your trial run, they can try both and see which works best.

I love B … very similar to Mrs Cherry Pie’s!

A word of warning about getting excited about those pics - a lot of them are of blonde hair, and I have a feeling that a lot of the weaving detail wont show up quite as much on darker hair. Will still look great though.

Have you thought about including some kind of hair brooch? I got mine from Etsy (Romancing the Bling) and it really added that little extra.

I like D also because it a mix between the formal and undone look.

I loooove option B, but have to caution you: I tried twice to get that look with my stylist, and ultimately, we settled on a slightly funky chignon instead — it didn’t work with my hair (thin-ish and light brown — as opposed to the blond in the photo) which ended up looking a LOT less “prom-ish.”

I personally really like D, so much that I think I”m going to drag that one to my desktop for inspiration!

I like the woven ones better. And if your hair is thin, maybe you could stick something inside the bun, ala Ms. Cherry Pie?

I’m got to go with the people suggesting the Cherry Pie look. Her hair was so great, I figure if you have the locks to replicate it, do it.

I really like D. It seems like the best mix of everything. I’m also a big fan of C. I don’t like A nearly as much. I think the curls kind of look tacked on, almost like an afterthought.

I have to vote for C! Hahaha. But actually, I think the Cherry Pie look is the way to go — her chic chignon was gorgeous. Your hair looks great in that first photo, btw.

You guys are all fabulous! Such great feedback, and I hadn’t remembered Cherry Pie’s hair, so that’s a great inspiration as well :) I think I’m leaning toward D or Cherry Pie’s…I’ll share both with my stylist and see what she thinks my hair can realistically be transformed into!

You could get volume on top by back brushing your hair and creating more “lift” like the hairstyle I had for my wedding. I did a twisted chignon like style in the back — sorry I don’t have a better picture!
You can see a side view of the volume here:

I think D would probably give you the best amount of volume you are looking for. I say that becasue I have tried a similar style and it didn’t work at all bc my hair is HUGE and THICK, and I want it just the opposite of you, flat on my head!

B and C for me! Although I can image that you could mix-and-match. For example, if you were to go with B, you could probably ask your stylist to create some volume for you too.
