Like, breathtakingly awesome.

On my way to Fargo yesterday with a friend, I got an opportunity to stop and visit the Traill County Courthouse. If you recall, this is was 6th courthouse I called, and the first one that offered marriage ceremonies on the day we wanted. My friend and I also got to meet and speak with the woman who’ll be performing the ceremony, and she was very nice: even better!

Now, feast your eyes:

In my humble opinion, a gazebo or park ain’t got nuthin’ on this absolutely gorgeous example of turn of the century architectural detailing. Look.

I grew up in a home filled with rich, good quality antique furnishings. although I hated spending hours on end following my parents around in antique stores and auctions as a child, as an adult I feel I can fully appreciate the beauty that is this original woodwork. It’s such a classy building, and our photos are going to be fabulous, I’m sure. Look at the court room itself. This is where we’ll be married.

K. So maybe these wall A/C units (behind me in the photo below) aren’t quite original equipment… but they could be necessary for our late summer wedding, so I’m not complaining.

I wanted to steal the tables and chairs for my house!

And, wow, check out the stained glass in the stairwell:

I’m even more in love with our venue (and feeling satisfied with our choice) than I ever was before. I’m glad a different, closer county couldn’t/wouldn’t marry us. If one of the original counties I’d called had been game, I would have never found this place!
