About Mrs. French Bulldog

My Dream Wedding

July 2nd, 2009 @ 6:50 pm by Mrs. French Bulldog

The 4th of July is may favorite holiday! Yep, more than Christmas and more than my birthday, I LOVE the 4th of July. Why? I really can’t describe it, but I love BBQs and I LOVE LOVE LOVE fireworks. The 4th of July just makes me happy.

When Mr Frenchie proposed, I immediately told him I wanted to get married on the 4th of July. What luck, the year we’re getting married my favorite day happens to fall on a Saturday, the most common wedding day of the week. I had already fallen in love with an inspiration board on Style Me Pretty.

As you know my wedding is not this weekend. *le sigh*

Unfortunately, the 4th falls in the middle of my summer quarter at school. That meant there was no way we could go on our honeymoon directly following the wedding, like we wanted. I also had no idea what would be in store for me with school projects and didn’t want my grades to suffer. *Booo, hissss*

Was there a dream date you wanted to get married on, but life got in the way? Make me jealous: are you getting married on the 4th?

Awwww, that really would be a fun wedding, based on the inspiration photos.

I would have looooved a Christmastime wedding, but we wanted to honeymoon in Italy while it was warm (and immediately after the wedding) — and I wouldn’t have wanted all the added wedding stress on top of seasonal/shopping stress!

We’re getting married on the fourth of next year. I wish it was this year, Saturday is a much better day than Sunday. Oh well. I have been debating whether or not to do Red White and Blue though. The inspiration board is nice!!!

I wanted to get married in the summer, but I didn’t want to wait that long :) We got engaged in the fall and I thought I needed a whole year to plan (nope!), so we didn’t want to wait until summer 2010… so we’re getting married in the spring. It’s the vernal equinox, though, so I don’t mind. :)

I love fireworks too!! I love the inspiration board very cute and festive. I would think since its still in the summer maybe you could still have a 4th of July theme or at least fireworks! At first we were thinking fall…I love all the fall colors on the trees and there are plenty of trees at our venue. But then we realized we would need to save more money so we pushed it to next Spring…and I think it was a great idea! I love that my bridesmaids are going to wear tea length dresses and our blue and yellow colors go great with Spring!! I cant wait! I think even if it wasnt your dream date…its still going to be your dream wedding!!

I’m doing a beach 4th of July wedding! I’m totally excited… they got engaged at Disney World, during the fireworks, so it’s very appropriate - but they chose the date because it was the only summer date venues had available when they started planning a few months ago!

I have always wanted fireworks for the grand exit! My friend is getting married this weekend and is treating it like it isn’t even the 4th. There will be nothing related to the red, white and blue. Kind of sad to pass it by like that.

I really want to get married on a 25th day of the month! We met on the 25th, my birthday is the 25th, good things just happen for us on the 25ths of different months. But sadly there arent any good 25 days that will work. I would rather get married sooner than wait til a 25th day works… *sigh*

I am in a situation sort-of like yours…I’ve sort-of been waxing romantic about getting married on our anniversary of dating (February 2nd) or the anniversary of our first kiss/engagement (February 14th). Unfortunately, both dates are in the winter (which doesn’t go very well with an outdoor wedding when you live in Canada — with the exception of Victoria!), not to mention that Valentine’s Day would be SO DAMN EXPENSIVE, OHMYGOD.

So while I’ve been trying to find a “meaningful date”…I haven’t made much headway. Our wedding will hopefully be sometime between the end of August and mid-September in 2012 (which means that an extended honeymoon — aka, more than 2-4 days — is doubtful, as my fiance-then-husband will be starting his last year of university).

I wanted to get married on Halloween… it’s my favorite holiday and it’s a Saturday this year! I was certain everyone would dress up and I’d have my choice of vendors, but FH vetoed it. We’re getting married on October 16th instead, so I’m still carving pumpkins as decorations outside and having a “dress up” box for our photo-booth. Yay!

Both Mr. M & my parents were married on the 4th of July… but we chose the 7th since it was close to theirs but started a new tradition.

I wanted to get married in the month of December. No specific day but just December. But contrary to what I wanted, I got married in July. My anniversary is coming actually, this 19th.

I always wanted a spring wedding, when it wasn’t too blazing hot, but FI refuses anything but summer. He requests very little when it comes to planning, so I’m just kinda going with it.

Aww, I’m sorry you didn’t get your dream date, Frenchie!

We originally wanted to be married June 27th- last weekend!- since I’ve always wanted to be a June bride. But no such luck, that date was booked.

My dad was really pushing for the fourth, for the fireworks factor, but I didn’t bite. :)

I wanted to get married August 7th because the 7th day of the month is important to us (first date: 12/7; engagement date: 3/7). But it’s just too hot. and I didn’t want to wait that long! So June 26 it is.

My cousin is going to get married tomorrow–I am driving there in the morning.

Sorry you’re not getting married tomorrow! As much as I’m happy for my cousin, I kind of wish I could be spending the day with my own fiance (this isn’t a close cousin, so he didn’t know I’m engaged) at a barbecue or something!

Ya, Renewals could be a great idea. With all the fireworks :)
I say go for it… but you know there are fireworks competitions in Montreal http://www.internationaldesfeuxloto-quebec.com/en/

Maybe on your honeymoon ;)

May 23rd is my literal DREAM date. I had a dream one night back in 2008 while Mr. Sparkle and I were dating that i was arguing with a wedding planner because i wanted to get married on Sunday, May 23rd. She kept insisting that i get married on the 22nd, as it was a Saturday and Saturdays are better than Sundays. Either way, i wanted a Sunday! Lo and behold, i woke up, looked at the calendar, and there you have it, May 23rd falls on a Sunday in 2010. We got engaged Thanksgiving on 2008 and we’re getting married SUNDAY May 23rd, 2010. :D

I always wanted a winter wedding, (awesome date choices: Jan 1 2010, or Dec 11, 2010), but in ND that’s just not an option. The weather can be horrid that time of year (we’re talking temps in the negative digits and 50 mph winds), plus we’re both students and the december date would be right during finals.

Yeah, a fourth of July wedding would be so much fun! I love summer, and it’s like the quintessential summer holiday (at least in the States!). I never had a dream date, but it would be cool to get married on your dating anniversary in order to keep the same anniversary date.

I love your 4th inspiration board. My original dream was a fall wedding. Unfortunately, FH will be back in school, so it didn’t seem like a good idea. Instead we opted for a late summer wedding.

Wow, I love this inspiration board! A wedding on the 4th would be amazing–just not outdoors in Texas!! Way too hot!! It was up to 110 degrees in San Antonio last week! But free fireworks on your wedding day would be amazing! I would have loved to marry in October and keep our original anniversary, but because of school (sound familiar?) we chose April.

I really wanted a fall wedding - leaves, pumpkins, reds and oranges, the whole bit. But I will be in grad school and don’t want to take off a full quarter, my brother will be starting college, and my fiance’s uncle lives internationally and always comes in August. So, August it is. We’re at least getting the farm!
