Mrs. Kitten's Picture
Mrs. Kitten, Austin/Grand Cayman Age and Occupation: 25, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Dental Student Engagement Date: October 19, 2006 Wedding Date: April, 2009 Venue: The Grand Old House, Grand Cayman About Me: In 2009 I will get married (after a two and a half year engagement!), become an Army wife, graduate from law school, take the bar, move from Austin to Washington, D.C., and start my career as a lawyer! With all this going on, Mr. Kitten and I decided to have a tropical, "stress-free" destination wedding. Nevertheless, my micromanaging, detail-oriented, perfectionist side has prevailed---I am currently obsessed with every last detail of my "stress-free" destination wedding! But most of all, I'm beyond excited to become Mrs. Kitten on a fabulous Caribbean vacation surrounded by my friends and family!
About Mrs. Kitten

A Valentine's Themed Bridal Shower : wedding bridal shower Shower6 The day after Valentine’s Day, Mr. K and I had a Valentine’s-themed shower hosted by friends and family back home. This was our first official wedding event, and it was so much fun!

The hostess of the shower asked me for an array of pictures of Mr. K and me, from baby pictures to engagement pictures, to use at the shower. I didn’t learn what she was using them for until I arrived, but it was the cutest idea: picture trees!

A Valentine's Themed Bridal Shower : wedding bridal shower Shower3 A Valentine's Themed Bridal Shower : wedding bridal shower Shower4 I had a great time seeing lots of friends and family from back home and snacking on Valentine’s treats! But my favorite food item was the punch! It was so good that I had to find the recipe! It is so yummy!

Another delicious treat were Rolo Pretzel Turtles. These are easily made with miniature pretzels, a bag of Rolos, and your choice of nuts. They are sweet, salty, and best of all, heart-shaped! Follow this link for the recipe.

I don’t have a theme that I love but I have heard of some fun ones recently.
-Candy theme party: She had a candy bar just like the the candy bars that are becoming popular in weddings.
-Black and white party
-27 Dresses theme: Guests wheres an old BM dress and someone brings a used wedding dress for the bride. The bride takes a pic with all her guest BMs.

@Charm bracelet: The 27 dresses theme is too cute!

Kitten, I love the picture tree! I’ve done a variation of that for a bridal shower, and it came out kinda wonky for some reason. Kudos to your hostess! :)

@Bearcub: They were hot lips! And yummy too!
@sarsk624: Thanks! It’s from J. Crew. I think they still have it, it’s called the Embossed Cotton Lorelei Dress. It comes in lots of fun colors and patterns too! Mrs. Quiche wore a bright blue one to her rehearsal dinner and added loops and a ribbon belt! Very cute!

@French Bulldog: I found a tray at Ikea!
@Charm bracelet: I SO wanted to have a 27 dresses theme for my Austin shower! I have 7 bridesmaid dresses in my closet and thought it would be so fun to bring them out again! But after talking with my friends, most of them didn’t have bridesmaid dresses to wear, and they would have to buy one for the party, so I let go of that idea. It’s not too late to have a “just because” party where we all wear bridesmaid dresses, right? :)
