So, I’ve been dreaming up our wedding since I was about four years old. I’m not kidding. I was totally the little girl with a veil (or pillowcase held on by a head band) fixed to my head regularly. Things got worse when I was 6 or 7 and a distant cousin got married. Think late ’80s/early ’90s wedding: big hair, big sleeves, lots of tulle—I loved ALL OF IT. My cousin let me be in the room when her dress was bustled, and I felt like I was really part of the action.
What I really remember though, was the cake. It was HUGE (well in relation to my size at the time, of course). Tiers of white icing held up with plastic pillars, and a colored waterfall running underneath. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.

I guarantee the water matched the bridesmaids’ dresses. And I thought it was PERFECT!
The best part of this whole cake experience?
I got TWO pieces. Daddy Cloud slid me his, causing the sugar high of a lifetime. Needless to say, I have never met a wedding cake I didn’t get along with. Have I ever mentioned that I did a brief stint in culinary school? I would be lying if I said I didn’t go for the sole purpose of wanting to learn to bake a really good cake. I pulled a good one off once; it was a cake for 100, complete with fondant, and all for my Mummy Cloud’s 50th birthday party. But this post is NOT about me baking my own cake. It’s more about a girl with a cake infatuation for most of her life who can’t decide what in the world her cake should look like!
I have spent HOURS pouring over blogs, photographers’ sites, and especially, The Knot’s photo galleries and bios. I have found a few that I like, even love, but none that stood out and I HAD to have. If I had it my way, I would sit down with Sylvia Weinstock and let her design something one of a kind, just for us (*swoon*). But there is that little issue of a budget. Oh, and I don’t live in NYC. So here are a few that I have found that I like. I lean towards simple, I’d definitely like it to be white, and I’m not interested in a cake topper (I prefer flowers, I guess).

Love Martha. Tulips are obviously not possible in November, but I love the rest of the cake.

Who doesn’t love April Reed? And the colors are perfect, too!

Mrs. Cupcake had a gorgeous cake!

I love the flowers and overall style, but I’m not sure of those dots.
So yeah, I’m all over the place!
Was anyone else surprised about how hard some decisions were to make, while others were easy? I really thought the cake would be an easy one!
