About Mrs. Duckling

It’s the Final Countdown!

July 8th, 2009 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Duckling

With just about two months to go, all of the sudden I hear Europe’s The Final Countdown playing in my head (this could simply be because Mr. Ducky is humming it). It’s one of those moments when you say, “Oh.My.Gosh, I have SO much to do!!” I think I’d redo this music video with flashes of loading my Cricut and Cuttlebug, with lots of glue and paper everywhere, and wedding magazines scattered across the floor. (Maybe without the ’80s hair as well!)

The biggest things are all the DIY projects that I need to get moving on.

Mr. Ducky and I went to PaperSource this weekend and ordered all the paper for our invitations. I need to finish the design, and hopefully those will be out by next week. Our design changed a little bit when we discovered Khaki A2 matchbooks on sale for 50% off. Mr. Ducky was inspired, and sure enough, we bought enough for both our invitations and programs. They have that kraft paper feel, and I’m really excited for what we are going to do with them. Cross your fingers that you see a post on them next week, which would mean that I finished them!

I could write out a list of all the DIY projects that need to be done, but I think that might be kind of boring for you and my head might possibly explode. I have the designs and ideas, but it’s time to start executing them. What’s the best way to prioritize?

There are so many details that need to be taken care of, and on top of that we need to find a place to live, and a do a few other things that come along with getting married. We have been engaged for over a year, and the wedding has felt so far away for so long. Now it is right around the corner!

Anyone else feeling the time ticking away? What is next on your to-do list?

before i even read the lyric reference, i started singing the song to myself! haha. Make sure you devote enough time for those invites, though - we did ours by hand and it was a real project. Enlist the help of some pals? I’m not feeling the time crunch… yet… But i think it’s just around the corner!

Haha, I hear that song in my head all the time since Arrested Development came into my life. Mr. Lab and I always do the G.O.B. jazz hand movements to it! But yeah, my 4 month mark was yesterday, so the heat is on! I feel ya!

WTF? How did 8 months go by so fast?!!!! hahaha

Listening to this song makes me laugh so hard today. AND when I think of you mixing it up by editing in you working on DIY……I think we could ALL be in a video looking like that at this point. I laugh so hard! hahaha

so.much.to.do.
I don’t know how it’s all going to get done! I feel like everything is swimming around in my head - and realistically, I can’t do half of them until we’re back in portland!! 0.0

Oh, yes…we have plenty to do. I’m staying positive and constantly referring to our plan to get all these things done, but…when I look at the list for July and August, I’m a little scared. Eek!

Um, is it bad for me to be already freaking out with everything we have to do and our wedding is almost one year away? There’s never enough time!!

YEAH!! I was just thinking about this yesterday. I am scared to make a list because I just keep adding things. I’m trying to do as much as I can each night. I am planning to do the big items next week..

Last night I cuddled up next to the Mr. to watch a movie all the while using fantastic double-sided tape to assemble our invites! Those lap tables (the cushion on one side and the flat desk on the other side) are fantastic when you need to finish projects! I feel ya, Melissabegins, our invites have taking longer than expected. After I designed them (too many hours to count) I had Kinkos print them and it’s taken an additional 6-8 hours taping, cutting, embellishing, etc. If you get them printed at Kinkos, have them cut to size!!!! It is only 1.50 for 50 sheets of paper! So worth it!

I made a list, and it was daunting. But i luvv crossing things off. So, I taped it to the fridge and now it stares at me while I make dinner, eat dinner, clean up dinner… maybe I should stop eating and just do DIY projects instead!
