About Mrs. Crab Cake

To PWC or Not?

July 8th, 2009 @ 12:54 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

There’s been a lot of talk lately of the PWC (post wedding chop).

I’m torn.

I’ve always had short hair. There’s only one time in my adult life I can remember having hair this long.

Shall we time travel? Let’s…

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 11 1

This picture is so dated… January 2001—I’m a senior in high school. Check my enormous bangs. They are hiding my caterpillar eyebrows (as I did not understand the concept of waxing yet).

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 2 2

Here I am at my high school graduation. It was two days after Senior Prom (and a few weeks after a bad break-up), and I had whacked all my hair off. It was liberating—kinda like new life, new hair. I still had not discovered waxing.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 3 3

That’s me in the middle in 2003, my sophomore year of college. This was a good length. It was long enough for a ponytail, but still low maintenance. I was so stinking skinny.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 4 4

In 2005. This is the longest it has ever been. We’re talking lifetime record. It didn’t last long. Shortly after a trip to Mexico (where my hair did not get along with the water, and I thought it was because my hair was too long), I hacked it all off again.

Then, I let it grow back out. Here I am at my college graduation in 2006.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 5 5

Shortly (like days) before meeting Mr. CC in the summer of 2007, I chopped it all off again.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 6 6

This is too short.

Once I was hooked on reenacting, it was time to grow my hair out a little. Then we got engaged.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 7 7

Must have long hair for wedding… right?

It’s been trimmed and shaped since our engagement in April 2008, but it has not been cut.

Here I am on our 5th day of wedded bliss.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 8 8

I was burnt to a crisp, but this is a very good representation of what my hair looks like on a daily basis. Sort of messy, and just hanging there. I’m no good at putting my own hair up, so it’s usually all down or in a ponytail.

Hmm… there seems to be a detail missing. I started wearing glasses back in October.

To PWC or Not? : wedding hair 9 9

I still wear contacts on occasion, but it is rare.

I’ve already made an appointment for later this week to get it cut, but should I leave it long or chop it off?

Don’t do it! Keep it for a while and enjoy it. Getting it short is easy, growing it is hard. Enjoy the fruits of your labor ; )

I LOOOOOVE the one that you say is too short! I look it looks young, fun and flirty! This could be because I had hair 8″ past my shoulders and then after the wedding cut it short like in that pic (but a bit different because it’s curly - think SJP in sex and the city when her hair was short)
ANYWAY - I say GO FOR IT!!! PWC all the way!!!
As Soon2BeeMrsLewis said - it will ALWAYS grow back!

I thought I was going to chop all of mine off, but I didn’t. I only took 3 inches off. I always thought I would go back to short hair, but I am enjoying it…for now.

I like the way it looks in your wedded bliss photo! I think shoulder length suits you best (my 2 cents, so do what YOU want). And can I just give a little shout out to the proposal pic featuring Savannah!!! ;)

You have great hair! I know you said it was too short, but that short-short cut looks great. I shouldn’t really speak, though, because I can’t live without a ponytail.

I really like 2003, college hair :) If you could handle it in college, it could probably hold up to current wedded lifestyle, no?

I really like the cut you think is too short… that length is too cute on you! Maybe that short but no bangs? Easy peasy!

I like your hair long, but I love the way that short hair and glasses look together. Short, funky, and cool. But to be honest, you look great with your hair at any length.

You have beautiful hair…so natural and has great body. I would cut it to how it is easiest for you since it doesn’t seem you like to be hassled by complicated hair. And I agree w @lovesthebear Short hair and glasses is so chic!
