House About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
About Mrs. Bruschetta

It’s been a festive — and hectic! — past few months for the Bruschettas.

My birthday follows closely on the heels of Mother’s Day. May ended with a bang, as we celebrated Mr. Bruschetta’s graduation. Next came our eight-year dating anniversary. Sister and BIL Bruschettas’ birthdays are in late June, and Mama Bruschetta’s is coming up in mid-July.*

And then there’s our wedding at the end of August. Phew!

(source)

We selected our date knowing full well that the months leading up to it would be packed with these festive gatherings — most involving dinner out and ending in cake. And that’s not the most wedding-friendly schedule or diet, you know?

But it’s been great to have these breaks from the stress and planning. We’ve enjoyed the quality family time, and tried at each function to keep wedding-related chatter to a minimum. (And the cake my mother insists on sending home with me is waiting patiently in the freezer; I’ll dig in come September, I promise!)

While I’m sorta relieved no birthdays are in too close proximity to our wedding, my imagination also goes wild when I think of the cute ways to integrate the two celebrations. Elaborate birthday candle cake topper? Bride and groom entering the reception to “Birthday” by the Beatles? Balloons in your wedding colors adorning the bride’s and groom’s chairs?

Next year, we’ll happily add another occasion — our one-year anniversary — to our family’s list of summer celebrations. Enough about the Bruschettas, though!

Do any birthdays or significant family events coincide with your wedding? Who is the birthday boy/girl? And did you do anything special to honor this person?

*Funnily enough, several other significant days — including Mr. Bruschetta’s birthday, Daddy Bruschetta’s birthday and Sister & BIL Bruschettas’ anniversary — are “chunked” together in the fall. What is it with our family?

My birthday was two days before our wedding. Everyone jokes that I will not get two gifts, but I’m looking forward to always getting one BIG gift! :)

My sister-in-law’s birthday was on the day of our wedding. We ordered her favorite cake from the bakery that made our wedding cake. Shortly after the cake cutting, the DJ called her to the floor, her cake was brought out and all my guests sang Happy Birthday to her! She was so touched!

One of my FI’s good friends from childhood is celebrating his birthday at our wedding. He jokes a free night of drinking is the best birthday present one can get.
In terms of family birthday’s, FI and I are within a month, as are both sets of BIL/SIL and in one case my dad FIL BIL SIL are all in one month! October is always packed

My fiance’s birthday is 2 days after our wedding day (which is our anniversary), and my birthday is 4 days after his! We’re used to it though…we’re getting married on our 11th anniversary! So we’ll be celebrating our birthdays on our honeymoon!

Mr. MJ’s an August baby and I was born in April, so our wedding won’t be too close to our birthdays!

Brother Star’s birthday is June 13. Then Father’s Day. Baby Sister Star’s Birthday is June 24. Then Stepdad Star’s birthday is July 7, mine is July 11, Little Sister Star’s is 12. Throw the 4th of July in there and you’ve got a jam-packed two months! We call these two months “the holidays” in my house :)

We wanted to get married on hubby’s bday but because it was a Wednesday it would’ve been too difficult to get family members here. But we celebrated his bday during the honeymoon!

My sister’s wedding and my grandpas birthday were on the same day. Before they cut the wedding cake, they presented my grandpa with a small birthday cake made by their bakery. Everyone sang to him and it was a great way to aknowledge his 70th birthday without taking away from the wedding…or his special day.

My fiance, brother, brother-in-law, future mother-in-law, grandmother, and one member of the wedding party all have early November birthdays. Two will be on the actual RD date. We’ll definitely have to incorporate some of these ideas into our RD, but the wedding is going to be all about us.

My birthday is the day after our wedding. We wanted to get married in May, but with multiple siblings in college, we had trouble finding a date that worked, so we settled on the day before my (25th) birthday!

It will be nice to (hopefully) have the first day of our honeymoon coincide with my birthday. I’d like to say no one will acknowledge it during the reception, but knowing our families (especially his brothers!), I’m sure something extra-celebratory will go down.

The week of our wedding was horrifically busy. Thursday my Maid of Honor and her husband and daughter came in to town and stayed at my house. Friday was our rehearsal and our rehearsal dinner. Saturday morning was my cousins graduation (who was also a bridesmaid). Followed by our wedding at 2 in the afternoon. Sunday was our Brunch for out of town guests followed by my brothers Catholic Confirmation in the afternoon. Which my new husband and I were his Godparents/Sponsors so we had to attend. Monday was the same brothers high school graduation in the evening. Then we left on Tuesday morning for our honeymoon for 8 days to Disneyworld and the Bahamas. Barely having had enough time to pack. Everything went okay but very hurried.

Yes! Mr. Bookworm and FBIL Bookworm are born a day (and 2 years) apart! Our wedding is 4 days before FBIL BW’s birthday, and we’ll be on honeymoon for Mr. BW’s. Not a bad wedding gift eh?

We are June and July Birthdays so not much after. However my parents and grandparents share the same anniversary. I always thought that was kind of fun.

My brother’s birthday was the Wednesday before our wedding–the first day that we were all in the Cayman Islands. We had a family-only get together and dinner to celebrate. It was a great, informal way to break the ice and let everyone mingle over some Caribbean food and birthday cake!

I am getting married the day after my birthday. Unfortunately school semester schedules and cruise ship schedules for our honeymoon kind of dictated when our wedding needed to be. Our rehearsal dinner is birthday dinner for me though with ice cream cake! Yum! Plus I guess I won’t have to worry about my future husband forgetting our anniversary or my birthday since they are right next to each other.

My dad’s birthday is the day after our wedding, and we’re having an Adios Luncheon for everyon on Sunday, and we’re going to suprise my dad with some kind of cake. I’m thinking ice cream cake since everyone will have had wedding cake the night before.
